The simple words ‘You’re back’ meant a lot to Sakn, who had felt like he had lost himself far too much as of late, though thankfully he had found his humanity in the end. The words warmed the redhead’s heart, and he couldn’t help the stupid grin that smeared across his dirtied face. And when Yue pulled back her cloak, his eyes quickly took in the details. She was obviously still Yue (no scars marred her face, luckily), but there was a certain agedness to her now, a change that was subtle but there. Sakn decided he liked it, liked the way it suited his friend.

They were friends still, right? He feared she would hate him, after their last meeting. But Yue had yet to hit him again, and if her smile said anything, she had forgiven him(or at least, let by gones be by gones). So, the redhead continued to smile up at her, relishing the afterglow of their brawl in the rain, which was still pouring down by the buckets. And when she teased him about their fight, Sakn scowled half-heartedly, eyes squinted from the rain.

Y-jus’ got lucky this time, I c’udda beat you,” the comment lacked the regular ferocity that Sakn’s words usually possessed, but that was because he wasn’t really trying to argue with Yue, just trying to prove he was still the same lanky lad she had met back in the Ichi Koi. A moment passed then when nothing sounded between them but the soft rumble of thunder off in the distance and the rain on the rooftops; gurgling out of pipes and down the streets, and when Yue spoke again, Sakn couldn’t help but laugh, and would have raised his hands in surrender if he wasn’t pinned to the ground.

Truce?” he mused, before adding, “At least until the next time I run into you,” there was a smile(and a promise) in his words, because Sakn was certain this wouldn’t the last time him and his friend would fight. It seemed that brawling was turning into their favorite (albeit violent) pastime.

Yue looked forward to seeing Sakn outside of the rain and the mud. How different did her close friend look? Had his journey away made him change so profoundly that she would simply not recognize him in the same way? Yue Lao was apprehensive for such a reunion, but she did doubt that the old Sakn she had cared for so much was really so far away from the one who was pinned beneath her.

That fight felt very far away. And even if it didn't, she had known from the start that whatever was fighting was not really Sakn. It lacked the warmth in his eyes and the passion behind his punches. Whatever that thing had been, she was glad it was gone. Yue unpinned him and offered him a hand after she'd risen to her feet, to help pull him up in the slick rain. She didn't say anything about the fight they had before, the one where she had wanted to protect Jianyu, but had in the end failed to defend against Xiu... It wasn't a loss she regretted. Xiu was both a Soul Conduit, which had proved to be her weakness, and fighting out of love for Sakn. She couldn't fault them for a passion like that.

"It was just the rain, right?" Yue agreed, grinning.

Although it usually took a lot to make Yue Lao mad, as she grew older it seemed like her temper was harder to keep in check. Lately, though, it had mellowed out a bit. She was no longer the bumbling Academy student she had once been, and she wasn't waiting for anyone to love her back. As such, although she had fought with Sakn tonight, she didn't get as angry at others as she had during that transitional period between being a student and being a fighter. Still, she did suspect that because they were both so headstrong and liked to resolve things with their fists, she would be fighting Sakn again someday soon.

"Until the next time," Yue agreed, with a grin. "Or rather, the time after that; we still need a good reunion," she finished, pulling her hood back over her hair, because her face was beginning to be chilled by the rain.

Yue Lao stepped up to Sakn, embraced him lightly (it wasn't light enough, it was just what she considered light) and stepped away. With a wave, she headed off into the alleys, on her way home.

A few moments later she returned and walked back through the other alley, as if it had never happened. Yue still didn't know how to get home.
