"Oh! I am so jealous!" She said but her face was pure delight. "I wish I spoke two languages well, you must be so talented!" She shook her head in delight and clapped her hands together. "Languages AND violin, do you like it here?" She tilted her head and waved her hands around to indicate the city that encompassed them. "Do you miss Germany? I've only ever seen beyond the city in pictures... forgive me!" She laughed softly brushing one hand against her cheek as a blush feathered across her face.

Being assaulted with questions was something rather new for him - and for a moment he was left just processing all that she had asked before he could even begin to answer it all.
"Languages are easy... For me at least." He never had any issues with them, and he hoped to be able to sneak in some more language courses for the rest of his university time. "This place is... special. Really." How else could you qualify a city that had it's own brands of terrorists, and rumors of monsters lurking in the dark ? "The first years were the worse, but im used to the distance now. I go back for holidays and such."

She gave a small sadder laugh. "Yes... yes it is rather special Isn't it..." She twisted her boot in the sand again and then added. "...I wonder, if there aren't more citys just like this...I've seen some very strange things that never -really- make it onto the news."
She twisted her hair around a finger looking introspective.

"I don't know." Daniel had to admit, and a thoughtful frown took form on his face. "The fact that things are like this here... Actually doesn't seem to be making it out ?" He tilted his head at her. "I mean... My parents didn't know. I think my father still thinks I am making this up."
One would think something so odd would be making it out, right ? "Well, beside the... sleeping thing. Coma ? Last summer. I was asleep all summer." His mother had barely ever left his side that summer.

"Oh..." She said and turned a deeper pink for some reason. "I know a lot of people who fell asleep as well. A.... actually my sister has gone missing too... The police can't find a trace of her, sometimes I wish I..."
She stopped and shook her head and smiled, though there was a sort of weariness to it.
"I don't know if I want to run away or if I just want answers... that must sound so foolish though. I'm glad you woke up... if you hadn't I'd never have met you"

"Your sister ? Im sorry." Had her sister been one of the nameless statistics of Destiny City ? It was rather chilling to think about, and the words he said felt lacking. But what he could one say to something like that ?
He was glad that his parents did not live here, really.
The thought of going back to Germany had crossed his mind, but it felt mostly like quitting. And Daniel did not quit, oh no. There was a strong fire, an iron determination hidden under that outward shyness. One simply had to dig deeper to get a true glimpse of it.
"Ahh..." His cheeks colored again. "Thank you. I understand, through. I thought about moving back after a woke up." That was similar... right ? "DCU has the best literature program I know about, through."

"She nodded in agreement, I heard that... they have some amazing programs, there are some internships that I'd really -really- like to be part of..." She said wistfully.
"Would... would you like to walk with me?" She offered suddenly, she craved company but somehow walking seemed to have the right feel to it. Maybe because it was more like the patrolling she should have been doing more frequently than she had been...

"Then why not ? You should give it a try, maybe ?" He wasn't quite sure how old Ume must have been, but she didn't seem much older than he was.
The question seemed to surprise him. Walk with her ? Well... Why not ? "Sure, just give me a moment..." He had to put the violin away, back in it's case, first of all.

"...Just 17..." She said with a soft shrug. "I.. I'm a little worried that people will find them 'creepy'. She laughed softly. "I want to...learn forensic science, I thought if I got an internship at... I'm not really sure. I know I'll be studying for a very long time but... I think it's amazing what something as simple as a drop of blood can tell us."

"Forensic ?" He asked, getting up when he was done putting his violin away. Ume had just hit a word he wasn't completely certain of. It happened rarely now, but it still happened - mostly over technical terms or those less used in conversations, but he couldn't help but be a little embarrassed about it. Was he looking stupid ? He really hoped he wasn't looking stupid.
"Ahhh... Medicine ? Or ? And people think it's silly I want to write stories rather than have a 'real' job." He shrugged. "You should do what you like, what you want to do. You won't be happy otherwise."
It was something he had struggled with, but having his parents' approval - his father's, most importantly - had helped.

"Writing is an amazing job though, if we had no one who wrote who would tell the new stories for a new generation?" She beamed at him curious and interested. "What do you write if you don't mind me asking?"
She admittedly dodged the definition of Forensic for now, the idea of telling this sweet young man that she wanted to study cracks in skulls to determine what killed them... well, she was afraid she might just scare him off.
He was strangely 'comfortable' to be around and she needed that so much right now.

The definition did not come, and thus Daniel made a mental note to just check it out later. He could understand someone skipping over explaining something if it was supposed to be obvious, even if it wasn't obvious to him.
"I write short stories for now, through I started outlining a novel. I don't know when i'll get started on it. Mostly fantasy." Darker fantasy, sometimes, but he saw no need to creep her out right off the bat.
...Rather ironic, really.

"I'd love to read that some time if you ever...would allow?" She said and she truely meant it. Sometimes it was more delightful to see something that hadn't been chopped and rehashed by editors than it was to read something 'professional'.
She paused and bit at her lip. "I could offer to tell you what I know about Forensic Science just from books, but I'm... afraid it's a bit morbid." She smiled at him but it was a little nervous. Funny perhaps given that she was wearing what amounted to 'goth' and she was worried about his reaction to morbidity.

"Ahhh..." Was she being serious ? Sometimes it was just had to tell. Especially after going to a science school like Azure, where he had gotten his fair share of teasing. "I don't have anything with me right now, through... Maybe later ?"
Morbid... Ahh, yes, it took him a moment to recall the word. "I don't mind." Hell, some of the things he wrote probably might scare her off. He really would need to pick carefully...

"You sure?" She said looking timid at the edges again, demure but strong under the velvet somehow.
"some of the books have real crime scene photos, though... I should probably lend you 'dead men do tell tales' first." she said trailing off into thoughtfulness. At least that book didn't delve too heavy into any fleshy illustrations, it showed more matching up skeletal remains than 'juicy' corpses with their settled-bruising
