Alkaid drew her attention slowly back to him, away from the things she had been silently observing with her little speech. Rooftop talks were quickly turning into rooftop philosophies and for a moment she felt bad for it. There were some things he needed to figure out on his own before she started to shove all of her ideas onto him.
"Sure," she even managed a small smile at the idea of a 'walk'. It was probably more like a sprint through sky-high park, but the sentiment was still nice. She didn't often get many people willing to run along rooftops with her.
"Which way?" She held up her hands in both directions of the line of buildings, waiting for him to make the decision. She'd done enough roof hopping that it was all the same to her for the most part. She supposed he might still be new enough to find some adventure in it.

"Hm..." A small, thoughtful noise, and then he seemed to decide to go left, walking toward the side to make sure he wasn't startling Alkaid by just running off.
It hadn't been long since Alunite actually started being good at this whole roof-hopping business - he'd gone through a long period where he just couldn't trust his body and it's new-found capabilities to actually do these kind of things.
Yet he cleared the distance just fine, if a little over-carefully - his lack of experience was showing in his hesitation, in his careful studying of the distance before he jumped. It wasn't a natural thing to him - not yet. It would come, in time.
He waited for her to catch up, and seemed to realize he didn't quite know what to talk about, now. He really didn't want to turn this into a show of 'him, him, him', even though there was indeed a lot on his mind.
"Do you know my sister ?" It came to him, suddenly. "I think she mentioned you to me before..."

She followed him with her eyes as he finally decided on a direction and took a measured leap across the space between the buildings. His hesitance made her smile, in a fond way, because it was nice for her to see fledglings getting their wings.
She followed him with a graceful running leap, landing with a click of her heels. To someone that didn't know a time when even walking had been hard, rooftop running was almost as natural to her as keeping her feet planted firmly on the ground. She crossed the space left between them just in time to hear his question.
"Yes, I met Fluorite in a time when I.. was questioning a lot of things." She smiled as she spoke though, as if she were only remembering the best parts of that time instead of the worst. "She was a lot of help in grounding me, so I could see what was important."

"That doesn't surprise me..." He said, with a fond smile, as Alkaid explained her relationship with his sister. "That's just how she is. Would give you the clothes off her back if you needed it..." Ashley had always been the more open, more giving half of the pair they formed.
In ways, Alunite did wish he was more like his sister. How many fights could he have avoided by choosing his words more carefully ? No matter. It was useless to think about these things.
"Through if you'd told me my little sister was busting invader a** before recently." He let out a small chuckle. "I don't think I would have believed you..."
He paused again, to calculate his jump before actually acting it out. Fledgelings getting their wings sounded about right.

She turned to watch him as he spoke and began to measure himself for the next jump. She just waited patiently behind him and crossed her arms behind her back, folding her hands together.
"I somehow don't doubt that she would," there was a fond smile as she said that, glancing down at her own senshi outfit though she knew that the civilian clothes Ashley had bought her weren't there.
Then he spoke again and she almost opened her mouth to tell him Invader wasn't quite the proper wording she would have used, but bit her tongue. Semantics weren't important. She just smiled and nodded at him, stepping a little closer (though to the side) so she could examine the distance of the jump.
"It's easier if you don't think about it so much, it's a lot about feeling." Then she shrugged with a knowing smile and glanced sideways at him. "Of course, it's harder to train your brain to know that."

He paused to listen to what Alkaid had to say, nodding his head. "Im just... always scared that i'll fall." It sounded silly, but hey - who actually mastered leaping along rooftops on the first try ?
Well, certainly not him. The most extreme thing Matthew did in his daily life was bike through traffic on sunny day (that certainly got extreme on bad days), so when Alunite had been told his best means of travel was roofs ?
Yeah. He wasn't an innate building-jumper.
He forced his mind to calm, then tried to do exactly as the super senshi had told him - it was a little shaky, but he got on the other side alright.

She smiled at his back as he tried to calm himself and took another shaky jump. For a moment she just stood there, evaluating and studying his landing and the way he looked afterward. It wasn't often that she got to see people just learning to do things that were second nature to her.
"Don't be scared to fall, we're built to withstand more trauma than any human on this Earth."
She made the jump after him, landing just as gracefully as she did the first few times. She walked forward and stood at his side again then, smiling up at his dark eyes. "Don't worry, as long as I'm here I won't let you fall either, okay? I can help you until we get it right."

"I know." He said with a nod of the head. "It's.. instinct, I think. Im used to thinking of heights as dangerous..." And falling a few stories never did anyone any good.
At least, never did a normal person any good. It was hard to admit falling from this height and being even remotely fine, but that was just as he had said. Instinct speaking.
"I must look quite silly." He said, trying to find amusement in his own inexperience and embarrassment. He didn't seem to be truly afraid of falling, at least not with Alkaid around.

"That's a human instinct, yes." She couldn't remember ever simply feeling human, but she could bit and pieces of her early Senshi life before she'd come to grips with not being so. Relearning yourself wasn't as easy as people thought.
"You don't look silly at all, we all have to learn."
She watched him for a moment, contemplating something she wasn't saying out loud. Then she walked slowly to the edge of the building. She put one hand out on the raised ledge and vaulted, falling and landing in a half-crouch on the ground below them. It sent a jolt up through her body at the impact, but she was fine. She turned then and looked up at the ledge she had just jumped over.
"Jump!" She called up, stepping back and lacing her hands together behind her. "Take the fear out of it."

His gaze followed Alkaid up to the point where she simply vaulted off the roof, as if it was the simplest thing in the world. She made it look easy - the mastery that came with years of experience. At least that was what he assumed.
Jump ? So simple, and yet... He swallowed the lump forming in his throat and walked closer to the ledge. Don't look down, right ?
Of course he looked down.
But then he jumped. His landing was nowhere near graceful or practiced - he nearly lost balance on impact, but he had more or less landed on his feet, and everything was still in one piece.
"...Whoa." He looked the first surprised. Seeing it was one thing. Doing it was another.

As he landed she shot out one arm to hold his shoulder and attempt to stabilize his wobbling frame. Past the instant concern of his imbalance, a smile was forming over his bravery.
He'd done it, no questions asked.
"See?" She let her hand fall away from his shoulder slowly. She glanced up at the building where she could just see the ledge they had both leapt over, then glanced back down at his face with a look of pride on her own.
"Now you know what it's like in case you do fall, and it's not that bad." She laughed softly under her breath and turned to look out at the city that stretched out around them. Buildings filled every horizon.

If Alkaid hadn't jumped before him, he probably wouldn't have - it was a mix of proven concept and the fact she was already down here to catch him as needed that gave him the bravery to do it.
"...That was pretty cool." He grinned now, looking up right where he'd jumped from. "Damn..."
This certainly helped put things into perspective, really.

She glanced over at him with a smile and a gentle laugh beneath it, happy that such things could be so helpful. Of course, they were only small to her in the grand scale of all the larger things. To him they were probably still massive obstacles.
"I'm glad I helped you conquer at least a tiny fear tonight." She turned back to face him completely then and inclined her head with her words, a signal of her pleasure at being helpful. When she brought her gaze back up again, she was already taking a step backward.
"I have another lost soul to go take care of before the night's over, but I'll be around if you need me?" She took another step back and brought her hand up for a half-wave. "It's been a pleasure to meet you, please tell Ashley I said hello, okay?"
Then she was turning her back to him and setting off down the street, pleased with herself for having been helpful but knowing that she still had a lot to do before she could ever be happy with her efforts at carefully prodding her friends along.
Baby steps, though.

Maybe not completely, but it was a start. He'd only rarely seen Fluorite do things like these, which was part of the reason why he had not learned for himself save for his own baby steps.
After all, he was the only one who knew of Fluorite's small fear of heights... or whatever remained of it by now. The negaverse would surely beat it out of her, if it hadn't already.
"I will." He said with his own smile. "See you around, Alkaid."
And just as she went on her way, so did he.
