Seiji watched on as the other ghost wandered around his room. At first it had seemed as though he was looking for something in particular, but now it he just appeared to be looking for the hell of it. Not really surprising since the pup had never been in his room before.
When he set Hikari on the mattress the little ofuda stepped to the very edge of it, whisping tail wagging happily, to watch as Jove bent to look under the bed. Dirge was under there, his old zombiejox, and he cracked a glowing eye, so like his owner's, to peek at the young ghost curiously. Decaying ears rolling slowly forward.
Not grasping why exactly the younger boil was investigating under his bed, Seiji went out on a limb with his guess. "Ah, that's Dirge. He's generally.. well, not friendly, but very tolerant." He might like Jove though, considering the pup had a similar mindset.

The pup's glowing eyes could only see so far under the dark bed, but when one glowing red eye met his glance he pulled back, startled. Jove fell onto his fluffy tail and sat there a minute, just watching the old zombiejox. Then his head tilted, and he leaned forward to better see under the rest of the bed.
Would the jox mind sharing it's little, dark space?
Jove decided to leave it in peace, at least for his first visit, and crawled up on top of the bed next to Hikari instead. The little bedroom was small, and that translated to 'cosy' for the pup. It made him feel more relaxed.

Dark brows rose curiously as the pup continued to stare at the old jox beneath his bed, chuckling faintly as he pulled back with a start to land squarely on his tail. Dirge was generally harmless, but he did have a bit of look about him. Seiji suspected the rotting flesh might have something to do with it. "He's basically harmless, but old and occasionally moody." Why was the pup so keen to examine under his bed?
He would have asked, but the younger boil finally got up and clambered onto his bed beside an overjoyed Hikari. The Ofuda very happily reclaimed the younger ghost's lap, curling into a rather compact ball, and released a mewling sigh in delight.
"She really likes you, not that that's surprising." She seemed to like most people, though there seemed to be something special about the whisp. Perhaps his intimate understanding in being small and fluffy.
"Alright, scootch over," he waved his hand vaguely, pushing the covers down so they could both climb in and get comfortable.

Jove petted the little scareon, picking her up and giving her a hug as he scooted towards the wall. He made a little muttering noise at the creature. It made him happy that Hikari seemed to like him, he was becoming quite fond of her too. She was fluffy, and very friendly, and there was nothing better than hugging a friendly little thing. Had he given that more thought, he might have realized that was the reason others were so keen to cuddle him all the time.
He stretched out his spindly little legs, and lifted is arms above his head, but didn't take Seiji's hint and crawl under the covers. Instead he flopped backwards across them all, arms spread out. Sure there was room for Seiji to lie down next to him... But not much.

A single dark brow rose as the pup sprawled over the covers and did an impressive job of taking up more room then what seemed physically possible for a kid of his size. It was all summed up with a slightly exasperated little sigh as he sat on the edge of the bed and took hold of the blankets. Giving them a solid yank to free them from beneath those thin little legs. "Pain in the butt," he scowled, though not as though he meant it.
A tiny whine sounded from Hikari, and she squirmed out of Jove's grip before crawling up to his pillow so she could curl up on the edge of it with her little face pressing against the top of Jove's head. She always did like to sleep up near Seiji's and Junko's face whenever she was allowed to. Clawed fingers gave her ear a little scratch before smoothing down her pale fur. She was hyper, but he was getting rather attached to her.
With the two kits now all nicely tucked into place Seiji lay down himself and pulled the blankets up around himself and Jove. Folding his arms beneath his pillow and shifting about until he found a comfortable position. "All comfy?"

Jove did a good job ignoring Seiji's lighthearted grumping, and reached up to scritch at either side of Hikari's little head. Right behind the ears. He made a happy murmuring noise, and seemed to settle for all of one minute before wiggling out of the covers and crawling across Seiji to peer one more time under the bed.
The jox was still there...
He flopped onto his stomach, apparently showing no desire to actually sleep. Just being with someone was nice, and he didn't want to ruin that with bad dreams or unpleasant memories... So like any other young child who didn't want to go to bed, he was entirely too busy procrastinating to curl up next to his friend.

The old boil blinked as Jove crawled out from under the covers and over him to peer under the bed at Dirge. "Or not.." There was the barest thread of humor to his voice, and if the pup had bothered to look up at him he'd have caught the hungry ghost rolling his eyes. Kids, they could never hold still for more then a minute.
Reaching beside him, Seiji grabbed his eyephone from the bedside table and poked at the main button to make the screen come to life, then slide a human finger along the bottom to unlock it. After a moment or two he'd pulled up a game about launching grumbling birds at piggles and offered it over to Jove.
"If you're not tired yet you can play this for a while." He sat up so he could point down at the screen. "You have to slingshot for corrividus at the rickety looking structures so they'll fall on the piggles and kill them. You just touch here," he touched the screen and slide his finger along it to pull the slingshot back, angled slightly upward. "Then you let go and watch them fly."

Jove scrambled back across his friend, all bony knees and elbows until he sat down and peered at the eyephone. Oooo, a game! He accepted it carefully and watched with glowing eyes as Seiji demonstrated. It really was like a slingshot...
The little pup sat still and launched a couple rounds, apparently satisfied with the new game for another couple minutes. Every now and again his tail wagged behind him. But not even that distraction could keep him still as long as his older friend might have liked, soon he flopped on his stomach across Seiji's body as he played, and shortly after he rolled onto his back and slid so he was lying with only his head using Seiji as a pillow, with his legs propped up against the wall. It was a good thing he was wearing shorts under that night shirt...
Finally he settled on his stomach facing the foot of the bed, his tail curled up and over to touch his lower back. He liked Seiji's bed, it was nice and comfortable. Even if he didn't plan on actually sleeping there.

The more and more the pup moved about restlessly the more aware Seiji became of the fact that sleep was probably not at the forefront of the kid's brain. Being a ghost himself, he didn't really mind. Neither of them really needed sleep, so staying up to all hours of the night wasn't going to hurt them. With an amused grunt the older ghost sat up and propped his pillows behind his back.
"Not tired, I take it," he finally said as Jove flopped down on his belly with his tail curling up along his back. Considering the sort of things they all now had running rampant through their minds he couldn't blame him. Seiji had been having his fair share of nightmares as well, and it didn't help that he couldn't get a hold of Junko at all. She wasn't answering her phone, and her answers on groanspring were unhelpful.
He knew something was wrong, but she wasn't letting him help. Hell, he didn't even feel much like her boilfriend at the moment because he hadn't seen her since they'd gotten home from that jack damned field trip. Every day he didn't hear from her was another day filled with doubts and worries, and it was putting him nearly a perpetually sour mood. Jove was actually a welcome distraction.

Jove shook his head, still focused on the game. The screen was brighter than his glowing eyes, and it cast a pale light against his bruised face and single perked ear as he flung another little corvidus at the piggles. He wasn't very good at it, but the sounds were fun regardless.
Seiji fell silent behind him, and the pup sensed it wasn't simply a comfortable silence shared between two friends. Perhaps it was just his canine instincts acting up, but it felt like there was too much space, like when Ren retreated into his darker thoughts. It was all too familiar.
Jove sat up and scrambled over to sit right next to his friend, leaning against him with almost a determined pressure, game forgotten in his hands. Everyone had dark thoughts after the field trip, and now that he knew Seiji was okay, not dead again at the bottom of a cliff somewhere way out in the middle of nowhere, he wasn't going to let the older ghost slip into them. It brought back too many bad memories, and the little pup had to hold back a whine. No, if Seiji was going to go take a mental trip into black space, Jove was going to sit there like a good lapdog and keep him from straying too far.

The older ghost hadn't realized he'd fallen into an awkward silence, nor that Jove had picked up on it. Not until the pup had sat back up and cuddled against his side, effectively snapping Seiji of his unhappy thoughts. He gave a very soft sigh as he looked down at Jove, raising clawed fingers to brush lightly over that one drooped ear. "I'm sorry."
He hadn't meant to pull Jove away from the game, he'd seemed to be enjoying it. "I haven't gotten a hold of Junko in a few days, I'm just worried," he admitted after a moment. Gray lips pressing into a thin line before smoothing out into a soft smile. He didn't know Jove had watched Junko die as well. Didn't know anything had even happened to the ghoul on the trip. She hadn't gotten a chance to tell him before she'd walked off with Sarias then disappeared.
Something happened, he knew it, but he didn't know what. It was a very frustrating state to be in. Jove needn't have to worry as well though, so Seiji tried to turn both their attention down to the game in the pup's hand. "Getting the hang of it? It's fine, right?"

The little ghost whined, and buried his face against his friend's chest. He had been trying to avoid those memories, of students dying horrible and violent deaths. Somehow he had survived, but how could everyone else have been so lucky? All he had to deal with now was those jackdamned aches and pains behind his dark bruises, but what about all his friends?
"Fall...?" Jove asked, still keeping his head down, all interest in the game lost now that Seiji had unknowingly gotten straight to the heart of his little visit. Was he really okay? Did he really die like Ren had back on that island?

Oh Jack, he'd hit a sensitive spot. That had not been his intent, not by half. He'd been trying to reassure Jove, and now it seemed he'd only managed to make things worst. Jack jack jack! "Hey, it's ok," offered, perhaps a little unsure. Not entirely certain what was causing this reaction in the pup. Tentatively he lifted a hand to rest it on the kid's shoulder.
He blinked as the pup actually spoke, frowning. "Fall? My fall?" Had to be, unless someone else he knew well fell into the pit after him. "I did fall, and I... I went to strange place." Vague details and soft truths seemed a good idea. "I didn't have a body. I'm ok though. That crystal thing we came out of to return to the academy brought me back." It had brought everyone back so far as he knew. "Everyone's ok, Jove. At least physically." He knew damn well they weren't all ok mentally.

The pup's good ear flopped back to match his sore one. A strange place? He didn't die too? That was such a relief, he had been so afraid for everyone... And then he had no recollection of anything after that final battle, after he was hit by something. There was a crystal? Was that how they had gotten back to school? Jove only remembered waking up in his room later, with no memory of how he had arrived there. At first he thought it was a giant nightmare.
After a minute the pup relaxed, all at once as though he couldn't keep the tension inside any longer. Everyone was okay...
Jove looked down at the game left on his lap, one last angry corvidus just waiting for it's turn on the slingshot. And then he picked it up and gave it to Seiji. It was his game, surely he could play it really well.

Had the older ghost realized Jove had misunderstood him he might have been hesitant to correct him. Seiji had indeed died, but that seemed like such a harsh reality, and perhaps Jove was better off believing he'd only been lost for a little while instead of the alternative. Who knows how many of their peers Jove actually witnessed falling or worst. Had anything good actually come of that trip? Any goals met? He couldn't recall why exactly they'd been sent there to begin with, nor if anyone had mentioned anything upon their return. Granted, he'd been a little distracted, first with Junko, and then with Jove.
Did the pup even know who it was that'd made sure the pup got back to his room safe? Probably not. It didn't really matter anyways.
He blinked out of his internal thoughts as Jove relaxed against his side, glancing down at the pup with a reassuring smile. He was fine, really. No need to worry, kid. The game was slipped into his hands and he looked down at it, watching the piggles bounce beneath the rubble Jove had made of the original structure. Chuckling he slide his finger along the scream, lining the last bird up before letting it go to soar through the sky and straight through the fallen wood, colliding the with last piggle and winning the game.
