As soon as he felt his wild punch connect only with air, JK fought to regain his composure, even as he felt his body wobble with the follow-through. Idiot! He chided himself mentally; can't you see that he just wants to goad you to anger so that you make a fatal mistake? And here he was in the process of it right now, unless he found a way to regain his edge. Shin had seized upon the memory of Genine so quickly; it HAD to have been a girl that had driven him to distraction. Perhaps it was Genine herself; after she had gone with Shin, JK had been so angry that he had not so much as looked at the girl after that day; for all he knew or cared, she could have transferred to another school. Any desire he might have had for her, he had shoved angrily into a box in his mind, willing that it never see the light again. All that remained was the dull anger of his rival taking something away that he had REALLY wanted.
Placing his arms on either side of his head, JK allowed himself to fall, moving his body to the side so that he ended up in a short roll, avoiding the incoming fist. How badly did he want to stay on the floor and sweep his leg around, tripping Shin and landing him on his arrogant little a**, but he knew with a scowl of resentment that no good would come of his getting disqualified, and giving his adversary a reason to brag that the only way JK could best him was to do it unfairly. He scrambled up before the temptation could present itself further, and regaining his fighting stance, moved in for a mirror uppercut of the one that Shin had just tried on him; he would show the litle upstart how it was REALLY done!

Drat! Shin had honestly been hoping to nail JK in the chin to perhaps prove that the other had a glass jaw. He'd never actually hit anyone in this way before, though he had no doubt that he would not manage to win. Even though he missed his chance to score another point and thus place him in the advance position in the contest. Blast it all! Shin turned and twisted on his feet. In his mind he could see pages flickering to other picture examples. He knew this move! He knew it perfectly well because he had been planning on using it himself. Shin actually felt a thrill of adrenaline pumping through him as he sidestepped JK's rolling form. he moved another two steps and gave a happy little bounce. When JK would rise from his roll and sweep his fist into an uppercut, Shin would merely have to take a small bounce...and he would not be there at all. With a eager growl he jabbed a quick and eager bunny punch at JK's head. Forget the body shots, he wanted to swell those eyes of JK's closed! HA! As Shin's blood began to boil a bit more, he began to move more quickly. This was it. This was how he could really get at JK. For every embarrassing pin he had head suffered, every slight the taller boy had paid him, and every comment he had made at his expense Shin would leave him limping from this ring with a bruise. "Huuurah!" He yelled with that eager punch.

Ugh! JK managed a small sound of disappointed anger as his hasty upper cut landed upon nothing. If only he had a nice staple gun; he'd nail that imp's feet to the floor and punch on him like an upright punching bag! His eyes widened in surprise as he saw the incoming fist; at least when HE had opted to punch at Shin's head he aimed for the side! But he could tell that Shin was actually aiming for the front of his face. Huh; and here JK thought HE would be the one trying a cheap shot first. Smiling at the irony in spite of himself, JK tilted his head back to avoid getting himself what promised to be a wonderful shiner, then watched as the overbalance caused Shin to pitch foward onto the mat.
Blinking in surprise and amusement, JK watched the smaller boy topple, stepping aside and watching him regain a moment of composure. He would have loved to return tit for tat and give him a smart elbow between the shoulder blades to ensure he stayed down, but not only was he sure it would count as an illegal blow, or at the very least a dirty one, but he knew that Shin would just be burned up knowing that he was so sure of victory that he would wait and let his opponent get up. But the instant he saw Shin rise and ready himself once more, JK was more than ready with an incoming blow to the side of the head; time now to end it and be victorious!

FWAP! The mat was much harder then it felt under his feet. When Shin pitched forwards, he smacked face first into the mat. He had put a lot of his strength behind his punch. He had wanted JK to wear that bruise for weeks! He had wanted him to feel the hot pain every time he blinked! Instead, Shin ate a mouthful of dirty, sweaty, blue mat. Sputtering he pushed himself up onto a elbow and snapped his head back towards where JK currently stood. Shin pushed himself to his feet in the matter of a second. Scrambling to his feet, he turned towards JK...and nearly walked right into that swing.
Shin twisted his torso in a sharp twist to avoid the blow and felt a sense of satisfaction. They were still two and two...but so many possible strikes had been missed! He needed to reclaim his lead! Shin grinned a little as he danced around JK and took his time regaining his momentum on his feet. Perhaps if he followed the plays he had read? Shin launched himself into a series of testing jabs and feints. He wanted that face shot still. But he could not go directly for it. Shin jabbed down near JK's torso to draw his protection downwards before he aimed for the other eye. Come on! Fall for it! He silently prayed.

Damnit! Not again! JK cursed under his breath as once again his punch failed to connect. He hated to admit it, but he was starting to think that they really were equalled in this, He had the stamina and strength, but Shin had his puny frame serve him well for speed and recovery. He tried to recall what he had done before to land those punches, and what he had done since then. He needed something different, something the little dweeb wouldn't expect.
He brought up his arms as he was assaulted by jabs and feints. Noticing that none had the sheer force of a landing blow, he kept his eye out for something more, maybe something Shin had in reserve once he was done sissy-punching him around......and there it was! He ducked as the punch went sailing over his head and shot out his right hand toward Shin's stomach. Try to put HIS lights out, will he?

Jab-jab-jab! Okay. A series of short small strikes. Something to make the opponent get used to the lightness and general focus of the blows. Then..A snap to the face! Shin had been so confident that he was going to land the blow on JK, but he did not make the err of over extending himself. That was how he had ended up on his face after all. JK's focus seemed to have sharped notably, as he easily avoided his attempt to land a blow on his face. In fact, JK seemed to be annoyingly spot on. Damn him! How was he going to prove to everyone and JK that he was the better of the two!
JK's fist connected with enough force into his solar plexus that it literally lifted his small frame up off the floor. Shins feet left the ground and he bent over JK's forearm with a whoosh of air expelling from his lungs. Shin's eyes widened from the force, and when JK pulled his fist back, Shin's weak wobbly legs gave out under him. He fell to his knee's, a arm wrapped around his stomach as he wheezed for breath. He was going to be sick. He could feel his lunch trying to force it's way up his throat. Tears stung his eyes and he choked back the feeling. No..no..that was three points to JK... Shin had not regained his breath yet, but he staggered uneasily to his feet. With a slight drunken like step, he took a desperate shot at JK. No! He could not let him keep that lead!

Though he expected his surprise blow to Shin's stomach to land, he didn't seem to realize just how much pepper he had put on it until he was straghtening up and Shin was kneeling on the mat, gasping and looking as though he might retch right onto the ring. He found himself actually pausing for a moment, not to humiliate the other as he had before, but out of a small lick of actual concern. Of course he had envisioned beating Shin up numerous times, just as he was sure the other had the same dreams of HIM, but he had never sought to rupture his guts or anything. Even now he was trying to think if his rivalry; he didn't want half teh school flocking to Shin out of sympathy, even if JK's blow HAD been above the belt and therefore within the rules.
He watched Shin struggle to rise and watched his arm swing wild with desparation. No Shin, he thought to himself, I will end this NOW. Moving aside almost halfheartedly, feeling awkward for having to hit someone still obviously reeling, JK aimed a quick jab out at the other's shoulder, hoping to catch it as it came around in the follow-through of his last wild swing.

Was it.... was it pity? Shin's stomach was already in knots from the punch. To see JK possibly holding back because of one...one lucky punch was unforgivable! Shin knew that his wild swing was something of a desperate measure to try and regain at least a tie. He could not lose this to JK. he had lost nearly every physical contest with him. What good was proving he was better at menial tasks if he couldn't gain the respect of those in the physical arts? He needed this. Shin's brows furrowed as he stumbled back a step. He needed to prove to JK that he could keep up with him on all fronts. Academics could only test them so much. If he and JK both got all the questions right on a test, there was no real way to prove which one knew the material better. There was no 'beyond' with the questions. Just a general median.
So he needed this, because then he would have something to prove to JK that he was not delicate or girl like He would be able to prove to JK that he could keep up with him and he would not stand in his shadow any longer! JK seemed to be getting his head back into the fight, and Shin spun away from the punch. "Your... style is sloppy." He panted while quickly wiping away the sweat from his brow. His shirt was clearly showing sweat stains, but at least he was managing to get his breath back. Shin performed a four punch combo. Left - right - left- uppercut!

Feeling a lot less emotional turmoil than his opponent, JK should have been able to mind the fight more clearly, but his focus was still on whether or not he would face some kind of lawsuit for punching a kid's guts out six ways from Sunday. Honestly, had the word 'accident' just become an old-world word? It wasn't as though he meant to do anything so serious; sure he got mad, but he still knew this was a boxing match, not a slug-fest out behind the school dumpster! But it only took Shin's avoiding of his jab to the shoulder to make him realize that the other, while visibly tiring, was also focusing hard on the fight at hand.
He heard Shin's gasping for breath and smiled with actual pity at the gasping words. All that punishment, and he still had breath to goad and taunt. He had to hand it to the guy, he could sure take a lot of punishment for one so small. It seemed a shame that he had to end it, but at least he would send Shin off with as quick an end as he could put to the fight. He was readying to try the shoulder punch, on the other side this time, when suddenly he found himself set upon by a flurry of blows, the lastof which landed him square on the right side of his jaw. Reeling back in surprise and tasting blood in his mouth, JK narrowed his eyes and then smiled a little. Make it a good fight, huh Shin? Alright then! Rushing back toward the other youth, JK feinted an opening on his own shoulder and darted to the other side, hoping to land a solid hit on the bit of exposed back that would be visible should the other extend their own arm in response to the invitation.

A hit! They were tied again! Shin felt a great deal of relief over the small accomplishment. He was going to prove himself this way! He was going to assure his dominance in a physical conflict! Shin's breath was coming a bit more short, but all he needed to do was start controlling his breathing. Yes. Control. He may have been tired, but he could overcome this. He saw the look flicker over JKs face, and Shin actually smiled. It was not a gloating or superior smile. Not yet, that would come after he claimed his five points. His smile was one of mild appreciation. JK could have..well. he could have claimed a quick victory with that one particularly hard blow. At least his opponent was being fair enough to face him without such cheap shots.
Of course, JK did not return his attempt at mocking, so he knew that he was not proving to be the nuisance he wished to be. Shin focused on blocking some of JK's shots, and he truly was in the zone as it were. So when it was that JK managed to slip past his established defense, he was feeling very frustrated for a moment...just a moment. For in the next he felt a horrible amount of pain shooting through his back. Shin, for a second time, found himself face down on the mat. Pain radiated like a sunburn that had just been slapped from JK's last blow. He laid on the mat, wheezing desperately for breath while fighting the horrible feeling of wrenching pending defeat. No..Damn it no! Why did JK have to be such a...a... Jock! But Shin was not going to just roll over and lay there. He was not going to just give up. So what if JK was one point away from winning. He could still make it up! Shin heard the ref counting, was he on three or four now? He pushed himself up slowly. His arms trembled as he ignored the pain and exhaustion. Shin was determined, against all odds, to at least win this match, or force JK to win it by the full five points. Laying down was not an option! Shin swayed as he got to his feet, but his fists were up, and he jabbed at JK. He did not have the energy to trade words along with blows right now. He needed to land a good strike of his own to bring them even!

The collective gasp of the crowd seemed amplified in JK's mind as he once again apparently hit Shin with all the force of a moving train. He watched the other go down, once more kissing floor mat. Come on, he thought silently to himself, stay down you little b*****d! Why do you have to do this to yourself when it's so obvious that you're no match for me? Did he think he liked being made to beat on him like this, even if it was in the 'noble sport' of boxing? Might as well have asked him to pound on a child, for all the frame Shin had to start with. Had it been his idea to have this match in the first place? JK found himself unable to remember who had made the first suggestion, but he was sure that Shin was regretting either making it or agreeing to it.
He watched grimly as the referee counted; two, three, four......then he saw Shin struggle to regain his feet, finally standing there, to JK looking glazed and unfocused and definitely NOT fit to continue this fight. JK shook his head a little sadly; he had hoped that he would spare Shin from any more crushing blows, arrogant little snot that he was, but it appeared that he wanted to see it through to the end. Admirable, but ultimately doomed to failure. He wished the thought wouldn't end up taking so much of the joy of his impending victory away; he had still earned it! He deserved it! What was one boxing match compared to a potentially happy year with the girl he loved? Fists clenched in determination inside the padded gloves, JK loved in for a final blow to the right side of the head, at least trying to withhold the follow through so that it would be a smart tap rather than another brutish slug.

He hadn't even come close to breezing JK with that last attempt. Shine felt sick to his stomach and his back hurt. He was forced to move in one direction, due to the numb feeling now traveling down his leg from the terrible blow he'd taken. At least it wasn't his face. Had JK gotten his face with that hit he surely would have had a broken nose. He blinked his eyes and tried to remain light on his feet. He felt...a sick sense of pending sour defeat. Damn him. Damn him to hell and back! For all his desire to win this match he was going to lose.
Shin would not cry though. His heart fluttered in his chest as he tried to find a opening to connect with at least a simple and basic hit. Sadly Shin would never get the chance. JK's fist came in and tapped him more quickly then Shin was aware. In fact, he didn't even realize the match was over until he heard the referee call out. Shin took a slow step backwards and swayed, though he managed to keep himself on his feet. He was not going to fall! But...he had lost! Lost! This was supposed to be a sport he could have mastered!!

Finally; it was over. This whole match was won, and by his own gloved hand! JK couldn't resist a smile as the referee announced him as the winner, encouraging him to raise his hand in victory. He was determined to enjoy this, the release in his chest of pent-up tension from the fight, the way the sweat made little cool spots all over his forehead when they weren't running between his eyes and off of his nose, and most of all the sound of the watchers cheering for him in the stands, hooting their approval like a band of gorillas who had just witnessed the birth fo their new silverback.
He did not spare a glance behind him, at what he was sure was Shin, slumped in defeat. He was afraid that if he did, he might feel that same twinge of pity that had bothered him throughout the match, and then even in defeat, the smaller boy would still have a hold on him. No, this was HIS moment, and his alone. Let Shin recover by himself, without so much as a glance from the one who had bested him once and for all.

The roar of the bystanders sounded like a cackling caw of crows. They were cheering for JK, but they may as well have just been laughing at him! Shin glared with a slow burning anger at JK. He didn't even spare a glance back. He just waved his arms in the air, sucking in the admiration of those that should have been looking at -him-. Shin felt such strong pangs of jealousy. He brushed the sweat heavy bangs from his eyes, and in a childish act of envy, he reached out with his gloved hands and grabbed the billowing bottoms of JK's shorts. Kneeling down, he gave a swift jerk on the material.
JK's shorts would be snapped down below his knees, thus panting his rival right there in front of the crowd. Let's see them cheer him on now! Shin would turn those cheers to the jeers he heard them as. Neither of them would have the glory they sought! He'd rather deny JK then let him win! Well..he won the match, and now he was going to win his fair share of ridicule! Just to add more injury to his pride, Shin pulled back and bunny punched at his eye level a**. Shin's lip curled up with a sneer. "Congratulations Katch!" He snapped sarcastically.

Perhaps it would have been better if JK had at least turned to the side momentarily to keep an eye on his bested schoolmate; then he might have been able to see a hint of what the other was planning. But he was still determined to keep the one focus on him and his victory; Shin had no place in this moment. He stood there, enjoying the cheers, the admiring looks.....
He felt a sudden jerk down at his navel, and suddenly the cheers and shouts were turned off like a faucet. His eyes widened as he looked down in disbelief. Apparently Shin had chosen a last act of desperate humiliation by pulling off his gym shorts! Even worse, the yank had also taken his black and red boxers down with them, allowing every bystander present (as well as a positively scandalized referee) a full view of his nether region.
He heard the silence quickly become peppered with laughter, until the entire room rang with the sound of jeers, so different from the enthusiastic cheers he had been hearing only seconds ago. "Congratulations Katch!" came the snappy shout, and as he yanked off his gloves and hiked his boxers back up, he turned around with murder in his eyes. "I'm gonna KILL YOU, you b*****d!!" Hands no longer encumbered by thick, padded gloves, JK lunged for Shin, aiming a punch right at the other's smug little face.
