He didn't look back at her. Instead, he shut his eyes as he slightly bowed his head and then turned away. He had done what he came to do. Meeting Blossom there was unexpected, but clearly the spirits had guided them both to visit the grave at the same time for a reason. Their conversation, while short, was meaningful. The words shared would likely carry on with them both as a comforting whisper. Rath however, was a busy man and had other things to take care of. Having properly paid his respects, it was time for him to be going.

"It was nice speaking with you." he said to her. "I will leave you to your privacy. I'm sure... you would like some time alone." He then quietly walked away, allowing Blossom to return to the reason she had come in the first place.

Blossom bit her lower lip and kept from speaking. She had said her peace regarding Rath's feelings of guilt, but she could not force him to feel any differently. It would be just the same with him and attempting to convince her that she wasn't to blame for the situation. And yet the tears still fell, trickling silently down her cheeks and hitting the grass. The little Hero cast her eyes over to the nomad as he turned away from both her and the grave, watching him, rather than listening, as he spoke.

"It was nice speaking with you. I will leave you to your privacy. I'm sure... you would like some time alone."

Blossom nodded slowly, rubbing at her eyes. "Take... take care, Rath." She watched him walk away until he disappeared over the dip of the hill, with the last thing she saw as the tips of his bandanna. She turned back to the grave once she could no longer hear his footsteps, crouching down to study the headstone in silence.

"...I just... wish you'd talked to someone," she finally whispered, voice raw. "A-Anyone. Anyone at all."

There was another moment of silence as she struggled to gather herself, rubbing furiously at her eyes. "I thought... I thought you could have told me anything. We're... were married. I thought I could trust you to... come to me for anything..."

She sank down on the grass and out of her crouch, pulling her legs against her chest. "Were you not happy? Was everything that... that was happening in Eyris too much for you?" Another pause, and her voice started to gain strength, even as the tears fell with greater speed, staining her skirt. "Did you not realize that... it wasn't just me you would hurt if you left like this...?"

Blossom pressed a hand against her face and listened to the wind in the tree above her, its eerie rustling and music soothing her nerves enough to calm her sobs. She could remember happier days, speaking to members of the company on a day of rest, as if all the bloody days of war both behind them and to come were only a faint, reddened memory. Aidan was always there, laughing and smiling and doing something that amused whoever he spoke to.

"...Are you happier now?" Blossom sniffed. Her cheeks were splotchy and dark red by now, and her eyes slightly puffy. "Like... like this, I mean. Away from it all. Even if... even if I'm not there with you. If you thought that this was the only thing you could do for... for yourself, I suppose. I don't know if... if it was for our sake so much as your own, which... which I can understand, I... guess..."

She stared at the grave for a few long moments before slowly resting her chin on her knees, closing her eyes. The wind felt nice, grazing against her exposed skin and tousling her hair. Staying near the grave, she spoke for the last time before falling into a tearful silence, voice lowered to a pained whisper. "I just wanted you to be happy."

Vice Captain Rath stepped lightly down the graveyard path, out of the sight of the widow. A ways down the road, none other than Lord Zeon was awaiting him. When the two drew near, they looked at one another sternly. It was clear that they were about to have a serious talk.

"She came." Rath said, after they had begun walking.

"Did you tell her?"

"No."

"You don't think she deserves to know?"

Rath stopped walking. Lord Zeon took a few more steps and then turned to look at him. The Vice Captain glanced to the side and shut his eyes as the breeze blew against his face. "She just lost her husband. She's not ready to handle anything else, right now." He opened his eyes and looked back at the head noble. "I'll tell her... when the time is right. Just not right now."

Lord Zeon stared at the nomad, trying to ascertain the truth to his words. Eventually, he resigned to acceptance. "Very well. I leave it to you." The two then continued walking. As they strolled, a pair of soldiers passed by. Lord Zeon glanced out into the graveyard and saw even more soldiers working.

"What did you discover?"

"It's what we didn't discover..."

"How many?"

"At least a few others are missing, including one from Fefga Manor." Rath glanced at the noble with a look of concern. "I have men searching all the sites, but it will take a while to determine how many precisely have been taken." The two grew quiet as another soldier passed by. "And even then, we'll still need to check other cities as well."

"Mordache?"

"Likely."

"When?"

"Likely during the siege."

"...Why?"

"Why do any villains do villainous things? They don't need a reason..." The head noble sighed deeply. "It is a powerful form of mockery. We may have survived, but they know it was only because of our new allies. They are still stronger than us and they want to make sure we know it."

"Perhaps..."

Lord Zeon archer a brow and glanced over at the Vice Captain. "...You think there's something else?"

Rath grew quiet as he went deep into his thoughts. For some reason, he felt as if there had to be something else. He thought maybe there was a clue he was missing. He also thought that maybe he was paranoid, which was probably exactly how Mordache wanted him to feel. He had to be careful, or else his judgement would begin to slip. Just then, a chilling sensation passed through him, a fleeting memory playing hard to get. Rath turned and looked behind him, unsure of what he had just felt.

"...No. It's nothing..." The Vice Captain slowly turned back and continued walking with the noble as an eerie sensation blew through the wind.
