((Sorry that took so long))

Shandar lay stretched out on the marble floor of the atrium, the sun from the glass roof warming his body nicely. Yawning lazily he watched his reflection in the central pool his jewelry gleaming in the sun.

In two days he would make the journey to Baarikmet where it would be warm all the time. Sighing he touched the water with his paw and watched his reflection ripple.

At the knock on the door he looked up.
"Door!" He called lethargically making no attempt to move from his position.

Hakim had been in his study reading anything he could find about mysterious underground cities when he heard Shandar call. Slamming the old volume shut with an unwelcome cloud of dust he stood.
"Well, you could have answered it." He said irritably. Walking over to the old door.
Shandar gave him a patronising look and turned back to the pool. Shaking his head, Hakim pulled the door open.
"Ah, Hello." He cried brightly to his visitor. Eyes flicking between Trin and her Dumyr. "Come in." He said gesturing with his hand. I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to remove your shoes." He added with an apologetic smile.

{=3 S'ok!}

Trin smiled. "Not a problem! good thing I wore my sandals today, eh?" she said, slipping off the shoes right next to the door. Her eyes widened as they scanned the sunlit house. "Wow... this is really nice..." she murmured, ushering Laima inside too.

Coming back to herself, she smiled at Hakim. "Laima and I just decided to come visit, check up on you and stuff."

Laima snorted. "Not my idea. I'dve just as soon stayed at home..." she mumbled with a roll of her eyes. She wasn't trying to be disrespectful, she just didn't feel like socializing at the moment. Or, well, ever.

"Thank you." He grinned. He was proud of the house and always enjoyed compliments. "Please have a seat." He continued gesturing to the couches at the back of the atrium. "Would you like anything to drink? Tea? Coffee?"

He laughed a little at Lamia's comment. It sounded exactly like something Shandar might come out with. This was going to be interesting.

Laima was having trouble deciding which was the lesser of two evils; talking to Shandar, or listening to the two grown-ups talk. She chose the former. Meandering slowly over to Shandar, she plopped down about a foot from him with a simple "Hey."

Trintika, however, kept all of her attention on Hakim. "Tea, thanks," she said with a grateful smile.

As Hakim dissapeared off to the kitchen Shandar looked up at the new arrival. She was a Dumyr just like him only female and white.
He raised an eyebrow and regarded her with a superior expression.
"Hello." He said smoothly his tone less than enthusiastic. "Who might you be?"

Hakim appeared after a few moments bearing a tray with two cups of tea. Setting it down on the table he handed Trin a cup and sat down.
"So, how are things going?" He asked gesturing to Lamia.

"Laima," she said simply. "And you are...?"

Trin took the cup of tea, blowing on it gently. "As smoothly as things can go, I guess. She's really been a dream, compared to the others I've had in my house. But I dunno... she just seems very reclusive, yanno? I would like her to associate with people a little more, but I'm not going to push her." She shrugged, taking a small sip of the tea. "And how are things going here?" she asked, glancing at Shandar.

"Shandar." He sighed inspecting his claws. Thinking he smirked a little at least this Lamia girl wasn't going to be too talkative.
"So, how is life with the human?" He asked casually.

Hakim nodded. "Hmm I know what you mean. Shandar's not the most talkative of creatures. He seems to like company though. He rarely hides on his own." He paused and took a sip of his hot tea. "Though to be honest I think he likes the attention. He's rather vain, fussy and incredibly stubborn. I don't suppose Lamia has shown any of those traits?" He asked wondering if it was common among the Dumyr.

"Could be better. She refuses to let me be." She sighed, shaking her head. "And you? What of your human?"

Trin shook her head. "I suppose they're just like people, with individual personalities. However, she did rather like it when I bought her the jewelery. She insisted on that silver earring though, which doesn't matching anything else; maybe it's a Dumyr thing." She took another, larger, sip of tea. "I think she'd prefer to be at home reading right now, honestly. But she and Shandar don't seem to be at claws yet, so I'll take that as a good sign."

{Gotta go for now, but I'll be back soon, hopefully!}

((sorry...I dissapeared too. sweatdrop ))

Shandar gave a fake smile. "Mine let's me alone." He said giving a glance to Hakim. "I have no complaints. Other than life is a little boring here. That should all change soon though." He yawned, looking back to Lamia.

Hakim thought about what she said and nodded once again. So, that was Shandar's personality, vain and sly. Well, things could be worse. "Yes, he is mild mannered and can be quite charming once you get him talking. I quite regret not spending more time with him actually." Hakim sighed. "He will be going to Baarikmet in a couple of days. Akhetnnami has chosen him for her apprentice."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 08, 2006 7:33 pm

"Change?" she asked, looking thoroughly confused. "Why's that? You planning to murder 'im or something? 'Cause killing is one of those unsavory things. Mhm."

Mentally, Trin sighed. Another bites the dust, as they say, and Laima would lose another playmate. However, there were still others. Probably. Outwardly, she grinned and nodded. "Congrats! I know he's gonna get a great education there. Hopefully it won't be too hard for him to adjust after being here."

Shadar gave a snort of laughter at Lamia's suggestion.
"Messy yes, Unsavory...not if it's neccesary." He added with a grin. "I'm going to Baarikmet. To be an apprentice." He said proudly.

"Thank you." Hakim said grinning back. "I'm hoping it will actually do him some good." He said cupping the mug in both hands. "Get him out of some of his bad habits."
Hakim was trying to stay positive. In reality he was worried about Shandar adjusting when he returned if he wanted to return. "Have you been in contact with any of the other owners?"

Laima's eyes widened. "Really?! That's awesome! To whom?"

Trin shook her head. "I've wanted too, but taking care of Laima has taken up the majority of my time. I'm planning to visit them later, of course, but as of now you're the first."

"Akhetnnami." He replied simply, his tail swishing. "It should be very rewarding."

Hakim smiled again. "Well, even though Shandar is going off to Baarikmet my door is still open if you need any help." He said finifhing his mug of tea. "Maybe we should organise some kind of get together or meeting, one for all the Owners and Dumyr. What do you think?"
PostPosted: Sat Mar 11, 2006 9:23 am

"Indeed it should." There was a bit of silence, making Laima squirm. She didn't mind silence alone, but silence with another person was discomforting. For lack of anything else to say, she blurted out "Nice house."

Trin smiled and nodded. "It would be a relief to see how the other owners are doing, just to make sure I'm not screwing this whole parenting thing up." She giggled, glancing over at Laima again. "We should really do that some time."

"It is isn't it." Shandar said nodding and looking around him. "I was lucky to be placed with a person who shares my idea of order and style." He glanced at his reflection in the pool again. "So what's your place like?"

"I know what you mean." Hakim agreed, laughing. "I'm always wondering if I am doing things right. You know? Like not being strict enough. "Maybe we could send everyone a message or something?"
