Lucivar wanted to slap his paw across his face for his so very obvious mistake. Gah.. of course he should have given his name at the very start!!

Gathering himself he dipped his head slowly, keeping his face a mask of calm even though he wasn't entirely sure what to do now. This had been his first real challenge and no one had informed him of the proper protocol. "There are many rumors about our pride.. both true and false." He conceded, knowing the pirates would likely love spreading the less impressive ones for sure.

Nudging his chin in th direction of the path, he set off, assuming the other would follow. "My name is Lucivar, son of Gunner.." Ahh.... this new guy wouldn't know his father, clearly.. He supposed it was simply habit that he added the name.. and really, he was getting too old to say it. He took responsibility for himself now but somethings were just harder to stop doing than others.

Hmm.. maybe he should find out what this Ruzanski knew about the stormborn.. and he could set straight any other misconceptions. "Is there anything about our pride you wish to ask of me?"

Lucivar son of Gunnar, his opponent had introduced himself. The Stormborn did take their ancestry seriously, he thought he recalled being told, but it had not been something which really registered for him at the time. Now he wondered once more what his place would be in the pride. He could not call himself son of anyone, except to give his mother's name, and he was sufficiently well-versed in stories to know that nobody did that. What did it mean to be a b*****d among the Stormborn? If they let lions in who could defeat one of their warriors, surely it wasn't so important who the lions' fathers were. And yet the very name of the pride referred to the lions' ancestry.

"Is there anything else I need to do, any rite I need to pass still?" He could ask that, but he couldn't ask about what it meant to be fatherless. He had never cared before, even though his mother had cared a great deal (it had been obvious), and he would be damned if he'd start caring now he decided.

Actually, he wouldn't have minded asking if it was permissible to see a healer at this point, since he would like to have someone look at the injuries he'd sustained before too much sand from the beach got into them. Falling backward had given the hateful granules more than ample opportunity to get into his fur and begin to irritate his wounds. But he couldn't ask that, either. Stoicism was clearly the order of the day.

Padding along he concentrated on ignoring the slowly increasing pain in his side. The wound was bleeding, he could feel its warmth slowly sliding through his fur. It wasn't overly painful, but it cut across his lateral muscles and making their way up to the pride meant climbing, and that made his muscles have to work harder than simply walking on a flat surface... and no way was he going to limp in view of the lion who had caused the wound.

The question surprised him, having though the other wouldn't reply, wincing inwardly he scrambled through his mind for a suitable answer that wouldn't make him sound like a complete idiot. "Not for the time being." He returned, knowing that at least, was true. Mind skipping ahead he glanced back at the newest pride member. He could drop the guy off at one of the healer's and then go find Aesir and find out if he needed to present Ruzanski formally, or if that was done at a later date, perhaps in some sort of ceremony though he couldn't remember ever hearing of such a thing.

"We will go to the healer dens now, they will tend to your wound while I go see the Warlord."

Making his way uphill was painful. Ru was definitely impressed by Lucivar's hiding his own discomfort, and therefore made all the more determined not to let it show how uncomfortable he was. He had fought to a draw, after all. He would have to make sure no one doubted that he belonged here.

"Good to know," he said when Lucivar answered him. And it was. He definitely didn't feel up to doing anything more, but if it was expected of him, he would try. It was good that he didn't have to.

There wasn't anything more to say, really, even after being informed of their destination, though it was good to know he would be presented to healers. He doubted his injuries would turn fatal or anything like that, but the longer he spent injured, the longer it would be until he could train at full strength. He wasn't going to think or worry about the Warlord. What happened there would happen, and worrying certainly wasn't going to change anything.

He was still grinning faintly though. He'd done it. He'd made it in!
