Chris shook his head lightly in response to Azzo's question. "I've been to a lot of funerals..." he admitted, feeling guilty that he couldn't remember exact details of Azzo's Gramps' funeral, but... those were some of the things that he liked to try and block from his memory. It was a part of every day life, of course. Babies being born... couples getting married... people dying... It was nothing new, but he could at least admit that he didn't like certain aspects of life. It's also what happened when your father was fairly well known in his line of work, and was always going to funerals and memorial services for those who he served under, as well as those who served under him. It also didn't help that his extended family was huge, and at least once every couple years a great aunt or uncle passed away.
"Of course I've heard about the terrorists," he assured him, thinking it was a little difficult for him to not keep up with the news in a family like his. So far, only himself and Peter hadn't joined the Navy for at least some part of their life. And Peter was too young, so that was excusable. So while he didn't want to be a Navy man, himself, he at least kept track of things that happened around him and in the world.
"Well, what is going on?" he couldn't help but ask, wishing that Azzo would just tell him if there was something he should know. "The media never seems to have the same story. People claim that some of the terrorists are good and trying to help, and then there are some that aren't and go around killing people. And then there are others that say that everyone is bad and is its own gang. I don't like it, but I don't know if I can just... believe anything..."
Yes, he was skeptical about all this terrorist hype. If it was really something to worry about, the government would have stepped in to take care of the problem, right...?

Azzo titled his head and looked slightly disappointed, "Either way you helped me find a nice watch." The boy said with a shrug before moving on.
He gave a nod, "I wasn't sure if you still kept up with it or not." Azzo took a few of the sugar packages and sorted them out, after he polished off the salad.
"That's a good question. I haven't figured out that yet but I know why the Media doesn't tell the same story twice. It's because they don't know and are probably too damned scared to try to find out. With good reason though."
He paused having the sugar separated into two color piles. "I don't think our armed forces are able to handle this actually, but see there's two sides. One's the good side." He slid the pink packages over pointing at them, "They fight for light, and to save people's lives. These monsters I mentioned, they also have to fight them."
He paused and then moved over to the blue packages. "Then there's the bad guys, however, somehow they're under the impression they're good as well. Despite that they kill people, they do it through different methods but it's nothing like your normal warfare. They also, from what I can tell, use the monsters as weapons."
"Techinally they are sort of like gangs. Some how both of them think it's their job to save the world, but one of these guys is Lex Luther, and the other is Super Man... I know it's hard to believe, specially when you can't see it for yourself." He paused, "But trust me when I say nothing is what it seems. I can show if you need proof, I know enough of them. I just haven't been able to figure out the whole story..." Azzo seemed to frown, as if it was important to figure out the story. He took a sip of tea and adjusted the 'bad guy' packages into lines much like an army.

A watch, huh...? Chris racked his brain, trying to remember, but without more detail, that memory seemed to have been washed away with time.
He listened to Azzo as he started to explain things to him with the sugar packets, peering down at them and trying to process everything. "Even journalists don't seem to know what's going on," he added, remembering the articles he's read on these terrorists. But other than that, he remained silent as Azzo moved around the packets to give him a visual example of what was going on. So there were good guys and bad guys...? But why? Who was determining who was bad and who was good...?
"If one side is good, why are they all being labeled as terrorists...? Do they not care about their representation to the public? Wouldn't they want more people on their side if they really are the 'good guys' as you say...?" he couldn't help but wonder, glancing down at the pink packages, and then back over at the blue ones.
"These 'bad guys' seem to be a lot more organized..." he assumed, using Azzo's treatment of the packages as a point of reference. He hadn't moved the pink ones into a line, but the blue was organized. It was difficult trying to figure everything out by just using sugar, but he thought he could understand a little.
"What do they want from each other...? What are their goals?" Chris asked, still not thinking he believed everything being told to him, but he at least wanted to find out the basics behind these... groups...

Azzo listened to questions as they were being fired off. "I think... because someone framed them all as being terrorists. Granted most battles I've seen sort of leave some mass destruction around."
He was thinking of the doom tree and the fact they were massive. "I... don't know know they get more people on their side honestly. All I know is that these girls in skirts are more like super man."
He paused, "They are. These guys are much more military seeming. I think... these guys," He paused while gesturing to the pink pile, "Don't have a leader."
He paused, "Well from what I've understood and I'm still trying to figure that much, but I think the blue guys want the earth." He paused, he needed to talk to Aurora about that again. "To do that, they kill civilians." He was still talking about the blue side, "The pink guys, end up having to save us from them."

He was firing off questions? Er, guess he was... Yeah, he had a bad habit of doing that every now and then. Okay, so he had a habit of doing that a lot.
"They were... framed??" he sputtered, not believing that at all. "What? And they just allow themselves to be slandered like that? They couldn't have done anything to correct the media?" Er... again with all the questions, but he felt as though that explanation didn't make any sense. "So... the good guys are girls in skirts and the bad guys are... guys...??" Because it sounded that way to him, at least with how Azzo was laying it out.
"And they don't have a leader..." That's classy. There is a group of free-lance terrorists running around the city, fighting monsters that appear out of nowhere. "Why are they killing civilians, though? That makes no sense, either. Couldn't they use them as... I don't know... randsom or something? How are they going to take over the earth by killing people who aren't even fighting to begin with...?"
Maybe all of these people were just crazy... Maybe Azzo was just crazy... Maybe Chris was crazy for sitting around and listening to him. Who knew!
"And I've never been saved by anyone, just so you know," he pointed out, believing this nonsense less and less with each word he heard. He didn't need to be saved. He was almost six feet tall and had muscle from playing baseball. No, he wasn't built like a linebacker, but he had strength and was still agile and was pretty sure that if he had to go up against a monster, he could either beat it, or out run it.

Azzo tapped the table as the waitress came by again, "Huh, oh yeah some of the chile to go please, with chips and salsa."
He watched Chris, "Pretty much, I think there's a few guys on the good side and some girls on the bad, but they're more rare from the looks of it."
Azzo leaned back in his chair, "Well you've been pretty lucky then if you haven't had to be saved. Granted I seem to be a magnet for trouble lately. First broken ribs, all the way to a broken arm."
He shrugged, "You still interested in baseball?"

Chris shut his mouth as the waitress came by, offering her a friendly smile to hopefully cover up the fact that they were talking about some pretty strange things. It wasn't every day that he heard people talking about these... strange terrorists... but he definitely didn't want to get kicked out because of it.
He still wasn't sure what to think of it all, but what more could he do...? All he had to go by was Azzo... and apparently the guy had met some of these strange people...? Azzo might be a little touched in the head for all he knew, but at least he was still friendly and sociable.
"Starter for DCU," he said with a small smile, thinking it was kind of funny to skip from talking about terrorists to baseball. Not that he minded... He always loved talking about baseball over other things, but... it was still an awkward jump. "What about you...? Still interested in puppets, obviously," he noted, knowing that Azzo had mentioned a puppet show just a few minutes earlier.

Azzo watched the waitress walk away he seemed non-too bothered by the fact she almost caught their conversation. He was taping sugar packages and then picked them up and placed them back in their little tray.
"Nice, what's your dad think of that?" He asked as sorted the colors so they were in between the white ones he had left in the tray. "Mm, yeah still interested in puppets. I had to replace a few of them. They went missing."
He gave a shrug, "Been reading a hypnotism book my grandfather wrote along with a few other psychology books..." For Azzo the jump wasn't really weird, talking to Aurora about the weird things in destiny was like talking baseball with Chris, only Azzo had little to no idea about most of the rules in baseball.

"He says he's proud of me for it," Chris said, lowering his eyes to the table to shrug lightly, "I still feel guilty that I didn't join the Navy, though. I think he was expecting that since Michael did, too." He just... didn't think it was right for him, that was all. He would love the opportunity to protect the country somehow, but... not through the military. If he could do it through volunteering at various shelters and donating to reserves, then that would be his ideal.
"I'm sorry about that..." he said in response to Azzo's puppets going missing, before nodding at exploring into hypnotism and psychology. It sounded intriguing, at least. "I'm in a psychology class right now... If you want to run theories by me, I might be able to help," he offered, figuring there was no harm in offering help.
And now that all this talk of monsters and good guys and bad guys were in hi head, there was room for little else... wonderful. How was he supposed to study, tonight?
"I should get going, Azzo," he said after a few more moments, moving to stand from his seat. At least his companion was through with eating, right...? It wasn't like he was just leaving him to eat by himself. "My dog needs to be walked," he explained, hoping it wasn't too lame of an excuse since... that was what he had to do.

Azzo nodded. "Eh Military life isn't for everyone. Why do you think me and my dad don't get a long." He shrugged softly as he waited for the waitress.
"It happens. There's always a few causalities." He chuckled, "Oh? That might be helpful indeed."
Azzo nodded when he said he should get going, about that time the waitress came back with a to go box. Azzo handed her a tip, before nodding "Yeah I need to go check on Merlin. Make sure he hasn't driven Grams insane." He chuckled as he paid the check too.

Chris nodded his head in agreement as he waited for Azzo to get up as well, and waited as he paid his check.
"Merlin?" he asked out loud, obviously wondering what he was talking about. He took a few moments to pull out his cell phone, too, unlocking it and finding the address book. "Mind if I get your number...? That way I can prove to my family that you're actually alive." Because really... this wasn't something he'd expected when he decided to go out to lunch with the guys.
That had been... interesting. Was he going to believe it all? Probably not, but at least now he would keep his eyes peeled for any suspicious activity around the city.

"Last time dad was in the country for my birthday he bought me a white German Shepard. He's a year old by now, but he's a good dog." Azzo answered the questioned name.
He paused, "Huh, oh sure." Azzo juggled the bag as he put in his number to Chris' phone. "If you ever need me just call. I can get help too if you ever run into a monster." He chuckled before shaking his head, and handing Chris his cellphone. Something that probably would've been unbelievable considering how much Grams hated technology when they were in the country.
"Lemme have yours too?"

German Shepard puppy?? It was difficult, but Chris managed to contain his excitement, not wanting to look like some freak for being over enthusiastic about a dog.
"Oh?" he asked, his voice squeaking just slightly, but he coughed to cover it up, quickly glancing away. If Azzo remembered anything about him, he might remember how much Chris loved animals. "We should, uh... Get him and my Finnish Spitz together for a play date sometime," he offered with a nonchalant shrug. "Annabel Lee loves friends..." Yeah, and he loved her friends almost as much as his own dog...
Chris gave Azzo his phone to put his number im, before taking Azzo's to do the same. "Yeah, give me a call whenever. I don't think I'll be running into any monsters, but I'll keep that in mind." Maybe...

Azzo chuckled, "Sure, he could use some friends. He's a bit of a big over hyper brute at times though." Azzo sighed as he remembered that Merlin could almost drag him around, hopefully though that would change.
He grinned, "Sure." There was a pause, "You should probably knock on wood." With a shake of his head Azzo walked out with Chris. "Anyways, see you around?" With that Azzo would head off towards his own house, food in hand.

Chris nodded in agreement, taking his phone back and replacing it in his pocket. "Sounds like a plan to me... Later, then," he said as they made their way out of the restaurant.
Well, that had been interesting... he still didn't really know what to think. His old friend from middle school, whom he thought was dead, was still alive... and there were apparently real monsters in the city... and the terrorists were real...
All of this was... difficult to believe, but... for now he would just shrug it off and worry about it when he didn't have other things on his plate.
