Sheridan's eyes narrowed, a snap of his tail.

"No, not in this lifetime, not ever."

He would sooner chew off his own foot or go on another boat trip with Professor Red. Sheridan on stage performing Stakespear? That was not going to happen, not a chance in Jack's name, not now, not ever. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

"However if you wish, we can search for a theatre in town that may be performing this play or another of Stakaspear's works."

A trip to the theatre he would be willing to partake in. Though truth be told there were other of Stakespear's works he would prefer to Grody-o and Boo-liet.

Tro's eyes immediately darted towards Sheridan's tail then to the dragon's face. The tikbalang was alert for any signs that might mean the other boil was going to attack him. Warily, Petro responded, "Just making sure. Don't wanna be in one of his plays neither." He admitted, rubbing the back of his neck, still keeping his eyes trained on Sheridan.

When the other boil made the suggestion of looking for actual professionals staging a production, Tro seemed to relax. "Sounds better'n us doing the acting," he grinned. "But y' sure no one sings in a Stakespear play? What about dancing?"

Sheridan's tail had already fallen back to a gentle twitch, there was nothing for Petro to worry about, there never had been. There had been no aggression in the gesture, simply a very expressive tail, always seeming in motion as if it had a life of its own (though such a suggestion was absurd).

"Unfortunately no, however that would certainly make the play far more entertaining."

A soft smile as he imagined the characters dancing while trying to sword fight. Oh dear, that could have gotten messy. If there were such a performance, he would have to remember to sit in the far back or, better yet, the balcony.

"There is however stage combat and death."

When it became apparent there would be no signs of aggression from either the dragon boil or his tail, the tension in his body left him and he settled back against the backrest of his chair. At Sheridan's agreement with the idea of the singing and dancing, the grin on the horse boil's face broadened. "Dancing and singing makes any play more fun to watch. Ain't necessarily better, but at least the actors're doing more'n just standing around and talking, yeah?" As Petro hadn't gotten past the first few pages of the play, finding out there was combat and death intrigued him.

"Which parts got the fighting and dying?" he asked, taking the book and once again flipping through the pages. As if doing so would make the words magically jump out at him.

He was quiet for a moment, as if trying to remember the sequence of events in the selected play.

"There is fighting throughout the play, however the most memorable is at the beginning of the third act. Death begins at that point and continues until the end with the main characters."

Of course neither was uncommon in Stakespear's works. It seemed most, if not all, of his works contained some form of combat and ended with death. It was all about the violence wasn't it. Not that he was opposed to violence and death, but really, surely a playwrite could have found more than one plot device.

Now Sheridan was flipping through the pages of the book himself, finding a production was seeming a much more appealing idea than reading it.

"I think we should check in town for a theatre."

The monster horse looked thoughtful, then he frowned. "Wait. Y' mean Groady-O and Boo-liet dies?! B-but, they're the main characters. Why'd they die?!" This bit of information did not make Tro happy. Lead characters have always come out alive and relatively unscathed in the stories he's heard. And suddenly he looked as if he didn't want to watch or read the story any more.

Sheridan started to open his mouth to answer, but then fell silent. He looked to Petro for a moment, then back to the book, flipping through a few pages before looking up again. He didn't have an answer for that question other than the fact that this, like many of Stakespear's works, was a tragedy. There was the usual answer that it was some sort of lesson, but that wasn't much of an answer.

"I...don't know why, I suppose that's what makes it a tragedy. Many of Stakespear's works end that way.."

Probably not the answer Petro had wanted to hear.

The frown on Petro's face radiated nothing but disappointment when Sheridan told him the general nature of Stakespear's works. "Stupid demon with his stupid hero-killing plays," he muttered, sharply glaring at the text as if he could somehow manage to rewrite it to have a happy ending through sheer staring power. "They at least get to kill the bad-guy?"

Sheridan clearly deserves some sort of award for Patience after this. Or Tro could possibly offer to buy him something to eat.

Sheridan shook his head, thinking for a moment on how to best answer the question.

"There isn't really a villain to kill. There are two feuding groups, but neither is really 'bad'. In the end the two groups drop their feud and make up. I guess that counts as resolving the conflict."

Apparently Sheridan was a very patient dragon, as he was not losing it with Petro. Though he wasn't sure how much he was 'helping', he certainly wasn't making a very good case for the story or the play write.

"I suppose it's better than it sounds."

Or at least better than his explanation.

"The comedies usually don't have the dying part."

Again, the tikbalang's frown deepened. "Wish I'd known that before I went to alla this trouble," he grumbled. "If this Stakespear just, I dunno, had some sorta pictures in his works maybe I'd've picked something else." He rubbed the back of his neck in frustration for a few moments before turning to give an appreciative grin to Sheridan. "Dunno if I wanna keep reading this. But maybe if we saw the actual play first, it might make it easier for me to get?" He suggested. At the very least, Tro was no quitter.

A half smile, Sheridan could appreciate the desire for pictures. Illustrations and diagrams were most certainly helpful in his science books. Sometimes things just made more sense when there was something to see instead of just words on a page. In this case however, he doubted anyone would have ever read the play were there an image of main character death on the cover. Then again...

"Few classic works include images, unless you count whatever might be on the cover."

At Petro's suggestion, the dragon was already gathering the books on the table. He was more than happy to take a trip into town with Petro to see the play rather than sitting here and reading it. If he was lucky he'd be able to convince the horse to see a different play, perhaps one of Stakespear's comedies or something by a different play write.

"Then a trip to town is in order."

He had placed his own book in his bag, standing up from the table. Time to check the play bills.
