Typically, Wolframite had better sense to not take things so seriously. Usually, he wouldn't get so upset, but jabbing at something like his justification for fighting, especially when he knew he had been in the Negaverse longer, tended to make Wolframite feel he knew just a bit more about how this part of their lives worked than the other Captain. Rank or no, he was still his senior to some degree regardless of age or height or whatever else. Maybe later on, he would reflect that he might be a tad more sensitive considering recent events that had happened in his life, but for now, he wasn't really thinking at all. His reaction was a mounting anger at someone who seemed bent on giving mercy to a fraction Wolframite wanted to stomp out like a smoldering cigarette that was polluting the city. To people that had killed his teammates in front of his eyes. Who caused him personal humiliation.

Even then, he might have had some restraint as he tittered on the fence, but standing over him and laughing was just enough to break the camel's back.

Whipping about, the smaller captain threw a punch at the other Captain's solar plexus, wanting to stop his cocky laughing in an instant.

It quieted him but -- well, it didn't kill that glimmer in his eyes, even as he bent and gasped for breath. It was enough to stun him, sure, but instead of breaking down the attitude, it left Ilmenite's opinions more solidified in his mind. Wolframite was, obviously, entirely out of his gourd, and potentially a psychopath. He was supposed to be learning, but this didn't seem like the kind of learning he wanted.

"Did that help?" His voice was still raspy, but it conveyed the sarcasm all the same, his arms still wrapped around his stomach and his posture shifted just slightly in case Wolframite decided to try that again. "Pointless violence make you feel better?"

His blood was hitting a boiling point quickly, and the other Captain was pushing every button like a child with ADD, and it was hard for the smaller captain to retain his cool. Usually nothing bugged him, but he was extra sensitive to a lot now. The last thing he wanted was for someone on his side jabbing knives into areas that bordered on very touchy subjects. It was brutally hard to keep his composure, and even that was slipping at an alarming rate in front of this boy.

I want to tear his face off.

The cocky smile really got under his skin.

"I like to call it discipline. You may be a captain, but you're awfully cocky for someone who hasn't been here long. What the hell do you think training out here is for anyways?" His hand was still clenched, the good hand, as he waited. Anything to just punch him again.

"I thought the training was so that I could not get my a** kicked." There was a definite snide edge in it, Ilmenite starting to straighten again and then changing his mind. Wolframite might have looked like a middleschooler, but damn he hit hard. But then, most Captains hit hard, and with that realization, Ilmenite wondered if he packed that much punch.

"Apparently it was so that you could 'discipline'." Except the way he said the word was snorting, disbelieving. He made it sound like something dirty, almost, hand still smoothing over his stomach. "And prattle on about essentially experimenting on 'strays and civilians' like the villain in an old movie."

He did NOT know what Zink thought of this guy, but he needed to be kicked a few times in the head to think straight. Mr. Sensitive was going to get his a** killed with the way he was thinking, and even though Wolframite wanted to say it wasn't his damn problem, he wasn't about to just let it slide. Still, it made it VERY HARD to even tolerate this guy when he was only here to help.

p***k.

"No. I came here for you to learn your weapon, but apparently you'd rather lecture me on the right and wrong of fighting when I've been doing this a hell of a lot longer than you have. YOU seem to have some rosy little rule book on Negaverse conduct. Okay. Let me here it. I want to see how you picture us in your sunny little world, Mr. Hero. Set me back on track." He crossed his arms about his chest and waited.

That got a gape, Ilmenite running back through what he'd said -- and coming out of it completely baffled as to where Wolframite had pulled 'idealism' and 'Mr. Hero' from. Surely Ilmenite hadn't rattled on about the importance of all life, or of rescuing anything.

"...I'm sorry, but what? This is completely irrational." It was almost dismissive. Finally straightening, he shook his head and held out a hand to summon his weapon back, perhaps in preparation to leave. His posture had to be deliberate, snubbing without quite turning his back all the way.

"There's a difference between idealistic idiot and rational mind, and there's a difference between saying 'don't go out pointlessly hurting people' and living in a 'sunny little world'." The bolas snapped into his palm, and he shook his head at Wolframite.

"You seem to be unhinged, if you think that having had a hard time gives you the right to exact revenge on anyone and everyone around you."

He went from surprised to shocked that he was essentially called crazy by the Captain. Punching someone didn't make you crazy. Carving their face off did, and if this guy wanted to see crazy, all he had to do was keep jabbing at him as he did. The nerve of the guy to even think he knew anything about him or what he went threw and then acting like he just 'got' who Wolframite was in one meeting pissed him off to no end, but he doubted punching him again would help his case. Make him feel better? Yes. Make him seem in control and completely sane? Probably now.

Rubbing his temple, he regretted not taking more than the full dose of his medication today and breathed out. He had to breath or else he'd wind up just screaming his head off and bringing the entire neighborhood further off to come rushing into the woods.

"Don't even start to "get me". You don't, and don't you even start calling me crazy." He opened his eyes after taking a moment to collect himself to glare at the other boy. "I do not go around killing everyone around me. If that was the case, you'd be a pool at my feet. "What I'm trying to say here is that if you think anyone is going to give you any mercy when fighting or play by the rules, they aren't. I've seen way to many people die because they weren't prepared, thought that there would be some set of rules to fighting, or that they felt they could talk to their enemy or ask to be freed. I don't want you thinking that way and wind up another unmarked grave in our cramped Negaverse cemetery."

More shock and bafflement; his expression clearly showed that he wondered if Wolfy had even been listening to what he said. "Of course they're not going to play by the rules."

He trussed up the bolas immediately, tucking them down into his pocket and shaking his head at the other Captain. They all, generally, seemed to be crazy to some degree or another. So far, he didn't think he'd crumbled yet, himself, but there was still time, wasn't there? And this was certainly wearing.

"I have no objection to fighting stupid teenagers. I have an objection to viewing them as faceless creatures who we have to 'finish off' or whatever it was." Squaring his shoulders, Ilmenite fought the urge to rub at his stomach again. "And I object to your suggestion that anyone 'practice' on civilians. There is a line between the necessary and the unnecessary that I'm not going to cross."

In his head, he called it the 'crazy line'. At least he didn't say it out loud.

Wolframite had to sit down. This guy was hurting his head and it seemed in some way or another, they had split up in hearing two completely different conversations or went on some great misunderstanding. Finding a spot, he slowly sat down, not caring that he was already going to have to break his neck more to look up at the captain.

"It was a suggestion. When you gather energy, toss them. It's great to practice on an actual person. Try it on some sleezeball that you don't mind would hit his face on the pavement if he tripped. I suggest cats because there are a few guardians we have to deal with and if you ever spot one, knowing how to capture a small, fast target would be good." He ran his bad hand through his hair.

He paused a moment. "Do I actually come off as unhinged?"
PostPosted: Tue May 24, 2011 2:06 pm

"You just told me to practice aiming my weapon on stray cats." It was still incredulous, his hands spread and his head shaking. Ilmenite couldn't even begin to comprehend how anyone could think that was okay.

"I mean, you're talking textbook sociopathy when you say things like that. It's the first sign of someone who's going to absolutely lose it. Hurting animals. Cutting them open..." Sure, he'd only taken Psych 101, but he'd held onto the textbook for months after it ended. Ilmenite swiped a hand up over his cheek.

"...and you obviously think you're better than other people. Definitely better than, um, people who aren't... initiated, and maybe better than those who are." That got a raised eyebrow. Dangerous attitude.

He listened a moment, considering a few things, before heaving himself up to his feet. "Funny thing is. Someone said they liked me for being the exact opposite of what you said." It was troubling news, and the growing concern he had for his own mental state grew larger.

"I'm sorry that this didn't do you any good. I'm a poor teacher. I suppose that is why I don't have a team. You can tell Zink how badly I train. I'm sure he won't be surprised." He turned, starting to walk to the woods. His head wasn't able to focus on training someone that only troubled him more and more or made him feel closer to the edge - or maybe further past it?

He stopped.

"I actually like cats." With that, he teleported out.
