Painite watched him, getting the sense that he wasn't buying it. She grinned. That was just fine. She didn't need his help to accomplish her goals. If she couldn't get him to question himself and join her side of things then she was going to teach him a very sudden lesson about the Negaverse, which he seemed to already be picking up just from her aura.
Which was fine. She knew she radiated evil awesomeness like nobody's business.
"That was a monster. A youma. They live around here. That one seemed to be in a bad mood. Most are harmless, and won't look at you let alone attack you. They usually aren't out for blood." Mostly true, except most of it. At least Youma didn't want blood. They wanted starseeds and energy, which was no less dangerous, but it wasn't blood.
She decided she was done trying to play the nice guy. She wasn't very good at it, in her own mind, though she was certain she could fool just about anyone if she really wanted to. She just didn't really want to. Yeah. That was it. She watched him, though, waiting for the perfect moment to introduce him to her trusty weapon, The Spirit of Mister Saddles.

The frown deepened, this time it looked less like it fit on his face...not so much concentration but outright suspicion. "Bad mood..." He repeated incredulous. Except it had felt in a strange way, not so dissimilar to her. "And what might have put it in that kind of mood hmm?"
He wanted to move away... do something, but he didn't know which way to go or what to do. Maybe he should just make a break for it... it wasn't like he wanted to brain her with a brick.

Painite laughed and shrugged her shoulders.
"Maybe it didn't like your look? They're just brainless monsters. They don't have to have a reason to be in a bad mood. Not like, say, people like you and me, right?"
She moved toward him, looking fairly languid about it. Casual, but now there was a distinct edge to her. She knew she couldn't fool him. She was a Negaverse Captain, and her energy had to be giving off some bad vibes for him. He'd get used to that feeling, and know there was nothing good about it. There was no way he'd help her with anything, even if she was the sweetest, most convincing person in the world.
Plus, he was a Page. And she had already decided that they were all stupid and jerks.
Even if they were brand new.
"You don't look like you trust me. I wonder why that is? I trust you. I like you. Think you're cute," she smiled pleasantly at him. "But you look like you're suddenly scared of me. Is that because of that creeping feeling down the back of your neck? Like you're playing with a fire you can't even see? It's okay, I make all the boys feel that way."
She called her weapon to her hand now, flashing him a big, devious grin.
"We probably could have been good partners, if you had been anything but a stupid Page!" She charged at him then suddenly, wanting to baffle him by the sudden change, javelin forward.

He Jerked back if barely, the javelin sliding through cloth and feathers for his hood with a tear of cloth and a small spray of downy brown tufts.
"Yor BLOODY insane!" He said in wide eyed alarm. She was trying to kill him, she was -actually trying to kill him like that monster.
Thoughtlessly he tossed the brick chunk at her though it went wide in his panic. "Get off with you!!" He said lashing out a kick as he tried to work around her into more open space.

Painite watched with interest as the feathers flitted into the air, though she was disappointed she hadn't managed to strike anything fleshy or capable of bleeding. It wasn't much of an attack, in the end, if all she managed to accomplish was cosmetic damage to clothes.
Still, it had been oddly cute, the little feathers poofing into the air. It was going to be hard to take the Page seriously now. Not that Painite had any ability to do that in the first place. She was well aware, after all, that he had just woken up and was no threat to her.
She was basking in that.
"Oh, I wouldn't go that far! No need to be insulting," she laughed, grinning at him in an oddly insane way. There were times when playing a part just made things that much more enjoyable. If he wanted to think she was insane, she'd let him. He'd know to fear her all the more. She saw the brick coming at her, but simply watched it as it flew harmlessly by. Her eyes shifted back to him, unimpressed, silently asking if that was it.
She backed up at the kick, calling her Javelin back to her hand.
"Uh oh, you're in trouble now, Bambi. How are you going to get out of this one? Trapped in a corner by a reportedly insane lady." She backed all the way out into the street, watching him with a now passive, curious expression. There was room enough for him to slip by her.

He glanced at the antler in his hand and back to her, no way it would hold up against the spear of hers...not even close.
"Well..." he said hesitantly. "I... rather like to stick with the classics, and they do say that a man of honor should nae hit a lady unless he must." He replied, and that was as much warning as she got before he moved forward, sliding one hand behind the slender curve of her neck and planting a kiss on her lips... more than close enough for her to make out with clarity the almost unseen scar that ran over from cheek to widow peak at angles to the hawkish nose.
And then he was off, making good his escape by slipping past her while she recovered from the kiss.

Painite was stunned.
She never would have taken the newbie knight for one of those guys. When he got close to her she expected a fight, and tensed just in case, but then he was drawing her to him and his lips met hers. She closed her eyes on instinct, fleetingly wondering when the last time she had really kissed anyone was, and then he was pulling away and she was left standing there, eyes closed, mind blown.
She opened her eyes slowly, blinking away the strange daze that had come over her from that completely unexpected turn of events. She was the one that came up with clever ploys. She was the one that used her wiles against her opponents. She was not the one that was left dizzy and blinking.
Except right now, apparently.
"Hey!" She turned to see him halfway down the road, but didn't give chase. Was she scared of him kissing her again? She wasn't scared of anything! "I'll get you for that, Bambi!! JUST YOU WAIT!" All ranting and raving now, she let him go, flustered and frustrated, but oddly amused.

He turned, risking it, just long enough to cut her a sweeping bow, he couldn't believe that had worked. Hell he couldn't believe a LOT of things about tonight...
A page... he was a page, and he just fought a dark lady...lady what, Knight? Hard to say...but as he made good his allowed escape he really had to wonder if tonight could have gone...any better.
