There went the day, as Eremerus went straight into the water. With a long-suffering sigh, Piscor dove in and fished his son out. It took a few minutes of fighting the swift current and powerful waters, but the leopard managed to drag both himself and his cub back to the bank.

Well, that was a mood-killer. Piscor liked fishing and eating the fruits of his hunting, but he didn't care for being soaked to the bone.

"I can see we're not going to accomplish much else today," he told the kids, a snarl creeping into his voice. "When you're older, we might revisit this." But only the ones who chose, he determined. At least one of the kids hadn't shown any interest whatsoever, and damn if he was going to waste his time teaching something to someone who didn't want to learn.

"We're going home. Now," he told the lot of them and, suiting deed to word, turned and led the way.

Kids. They were more trouble than they were worth.
