Phala's full attention was on the two cursed beasts that were out in the open. As they both charged he released an angry cry fully intending to join the fray as her surged forward. Not for a moment had he considered looking above him. It wasn't until he heard her roar that he turned his gaze to the tree tops and came to a sudden halt barely having moved three inches.
His mind was unable to fully comprehend what was happening until the shock of impact shot through him. He managed to keep on his feet by moving backwards rapidly, his dazed movement looking like some sort of awkward dance. It didn't take a genius to figure out what had hit him, the evidence was right in front of him. It was a real monster and there was no way in hell he was going to let it get away with that.
Tossing his head he snarled revealing the full length of his fangs before coming about to snap at the white beast. He could hear his mother's fox shouting and the sounds of Hayagriva charging but he was a little to busy to bother with either of them right now. This was his life and he wasn't about to lose it.
Revyra lifted her head from the water that she was drinking from. Her ears twisted this way and that listening to the sounds emerging from the forest. They had changed in the last few minutes. She looked to the sky and could make out a flock of birds fleeing from the area upstream. Her golden eyes narrowed. There was something going on and she did not like it.
"Perhaps there was a point in patrolling today after all..." She muttered as she turned to quickly follow the stream up. If there was trouble then she needed to see what was going on.

Some soquili would have admired the bravery of the fox that stood between the skinwalker and her friend to try to save her. Not Samsara. She had nothing but disdain for such an idiotic and ultimately pointless move. She didn't change her path and reached the fox in the blink of an eye. With gaping jaws she was reaching down one moment and holding the fox by the middle the next.
Her teeth slid through fur and flesh. She could hear the voice of the fox as it screamed and feel the scrape of its claws and teeth against her face. She ground her teeth downward and the screams grew louder, but when she whipped her head sideways they stopped. The sound of a crack filled the air and the fox went limp in her mouth.
Blood from her scratches and from the fox streamed down her face and neck. Her mouth opened and the fox fell with a damp thud to the ground. She looked at the mare, growling, "Your turn." Then she lunged forward.
Speed was not Zulian's strong point but it had never needed to be. He was dangerous for his bulk and strength. He had never fought a stallion as large as he was until today. He didn't have time to size up the elder before they clashed but knew that they would probably stand shoulder to shoulder. The other fights had begun around him but Zulian's world narrowed to the space encompassing him and the elder.
They crashed together but Zulian was prepared for that. The lashing tail of the elder struck him several times: On his pauldron, across his back, against his legs. It hurt but he was schooled to ignore pain. Instead of drawing back he pushed forward against the elder and tried to get him off balance. At the same time he snapped his teeth at anything covered in golden fur that he could reach. It was time for blood!

Felise landed her front claws gripping his hide but not causing more than minor scratches, she knew better than to let him go if she could avoid it. She was a little impressed that he had kept his feet, but only a little, she however wasn't impressed at the bearing of his fangs. She had fangs too, and claws... This thought spreading a grin over her face, bearing her own large fangs, hissing at the stallion as her claws dug in deeper. Her head and neck bobbing to avoid his bites, though he caught her with a scratch at first till she got wise to what his game was. Her own teeth snapping at his face and neck, the two of them snapping and bobbing in some kind of weird dance.
This would get old fast though, she wasn't here for a dance she wanted blood, and would work out how to get it.

As the protector heir to the herd it was Haya's job to keep the herd members safe. If there had been anything in his power to do to help Bari and Phala with the two skinwalkers that they fought he would have, but for now he needed all his focus just to keep himself alive. The truth of the situation was that he couldn't fight all three skinwalkers at once. He needed to hope and pray to the Bodhisattvas that Bari and Phala could protect themselves until he was able to help.
But there was no time for those thoughts.
Teeth raked over him and left blazing stripes of pain across his flanks. His muscles bulged and he pushed back against the massive bulk pressing on him. He couldn't raise his head to use his own teeth for fear that the skinwalker would get a choking grip on his throat. Fortunately, his tail would suffice for offense. He snapped it up between him and the skinwalker. Though he was protecting his own neck, his opponent was not doing the same. He swung his tail straight for the stallion's unprotected neck, hoping to get a grip there.
Bari screamed. Seeing her companion torn apart in front of her eyes shook her from her shock into stark terror. Sukha was obviously dead. Sukha! Her one comfort since Hisoka attacked her! She turned and ran. She could hear the beat of Samsara's hooves so close behind her. She bolted blindly without realizing that in the direction she ran there was a stream that would eventually cut off her escape.
She shrieked and remembered the blank look in Sukha's eyes as she lay in that limp and bloody heap. She remembered the foal crying and dying in Hisoka's pit of death. She remembered it all and tried desperately to outrun the terrors of both the present and the past.

If there were one thing the two probably would have been able to agree on it was the fact that the dancing of their fangs was getting them no where. Phala couldn't connect. The skinwalker couldn't connect. At this rate he would die slowly from the blood trickling out of his sides at a rate barely measurable. Were she not still attached Phala would imagine that the wounds would be clotting at this point. So really, this was just dumb.
Moving on nothing more than a half thought out idea he rolled off his feet and onto the skinwalker sending them both to the ground. From there he did what he could to keep rolling until his feet were under him once more. Out of the corner of his eye he could see his mother bolting from the scene. He didn't have any time to look any closer though. If he stayed down he was as good as dead so with a burst of energy he pushed himself up and braced himself for whatever would come next.

The chase was on. Samsara was after Bari without a moment's hesitation. Bari crashed this way and that in her panic. Though Samsara's smaller stature would have made keeping up difficult normally, her relative was making this easy for her. She drew closer and closer. Even though the trees pressed close around them she beat her wings in time with her stride to give her extra speed. She drew close enough that she could have reached out and bitten Bari's tail if she had chosen to, but she had other plans.
With a final few beats of her wings she launched herself airborne above the fleeing mare. Once in position she did the exact opposite of what Felise had done moments earlier. From her soquili form she transformed into her panther form. With claws outstretched she shot through the air at the screaming mare.
The elder was strong, and maybe even a little bigger than Zulian himself. Zulian threw his full weight into the elder and yet he stood firm. That tail kept battering him and Zulian kept biting. Blood was flowing over the elder now and Zulian knew he was doing more damage than he was receiving. At this rate, he'd have the elder on the ground in no time at all! He was moving to bite a mouthful of mane when movement caught his eye. The tail! It was coming up from below instead of above this time and Zulian couldn't jerk himself out of the way in time.
The tail lashed off his cheek guard and then circled around his neck. Zulian let out a snarl of rage but couldn't bend his neck down enough to bite at it. He didn't pull away immediately and that was his mistake. While he bit another gash into the elder, the tail completed its wrap and started to tighten...

Rolling her had not done anything to improve her mood, she disliked stallions at the best of times, but her dislike of this one grew to more interesting proportions. The roll had stolen her air from her lungs, the male was heavy, but she was glad as he got to his feet again, her still clinging on, sucking in some new air as she readies herself for what came next. Though his rolling had dug her claws in deeply. Hissing in annoyance as her paws altered their grip slightly, shifting forward and digging back in, making new gashes milimeteres from the first ones.
She wasn't going to put up with his keeping his feet so she dug her hind paws into the dirt, using her claws to help give her leavridge, as she lundged and sank her fangs into the back of his neck. Missing anything major but it would hurt and it would bleed.
She lacked a size advantage with him but she needed him on the ground, if she could get him down she would do most of her damage. She would rather have a hold of the front of his neck but she was in the wrong position for that, and letting go would leave him too much room to manuver, so she would go with what she had. Putting her weight and muscle into pulling him over, making ideas for what to do next already.

Against all odds, Haya's gamble had worked. Though he now had several more sources of blood to color his gold fur red, he had a firm grip on the skinwalker's neck. Now would be the interesting part. Just how much strength did his tail have? He was going to find out.
The skinwalker moved to bite him again but this time Haya tried to hold him back. His tail's grip tightened and the muscles creaked with strain that they had never felt before. The skinwalker was no longer pressing so fully against him so Haya took a step away to give himself a better angle and plant his hooves more strongly. With his tail he pushed away and downwards at the skinwalker. At the least he hoped to keep him at a distance. At best, it was possible that he could topple him.
Bari wasn't fast enough to evade Samsara's strike. Curved claws tore into her all over and her eyes rolled back in pain and panic. She let out a screeching whinny and bucked frantically. Don't want to die! Don't want to die! She internally cried to a deity that wasn't protecting her now.
Her bucking only dug the claws in deeper and she sank into a panicked madness. Instead of trying to fight off the creature on her back she began galloping forward again. She tore through the forest, colliding off trees and scraping through brambles. There was the sparkle of water ahead and she turned to run to it with Samsara still riding atop her and raking her with claws. In the ruins of her mind, drowning was a preferable fate to skinwalker disembowelment.

Phala couldn't even begin to express how much it pissed him off that his trick hadn't worked. It hadn't hindered the cat creature for more than a minute and it had only made things worse for him. He was bleeding more freely now from the deeper wounds and had a brand new set next to those. She hissed and so did he. The difference was his noise came from the sharp intake of pained breath. Of all the days he had left his pelt at home this was the one he wanted it the most. It would have given him a little protection at least.
He did what he could to shake her for a brief moment before a sharp pain coursed through his nerves. That b***h just bit him! White flashed before his eyes while he struggled to regain himself alternating between gritting his teeth and breathing in as much air as his lungs could hold. By the time he could see clearly he was being pulled down.
"No...way..." He growled pushing back up. She had the advantage here though. Phala needed to take that away. Without thinking he lifted a leg and kicked at his assailant's leg. Over all it was a dumb move and he could feel himself toppling towards her once again. This time, however, it wasn't on purpose.
Revyra heard the white, lotus mare before she ever saw her. When she did see her the winged mare was able to deduce exactly what the cause of the commotion was. There had been, and currently was, an attack.
Her eyes blazed as she unfurled her mighty wings and charged. All in all it was altogether likely that she would scare the white mare out of her wits doing this but it had to be done all the same. "Off with you beast!" She shouted baring down at the pair. Once she was close enough she beat her wings down and jumped over the mare kicking at the feline's head. She didn't care what reasons it may have. It was attacking and she would kill it if needed.

Zulian cursed that he hadn't bitten the tail off as soon as he had entered the fight. It was now wrapped around his throat and slowly starting to choke him. He coughed roughly and tried to shake it off but to no avail. It was pulling him downward and he had to put all his focus into keeping his balance rather than fighting back.
His breath came in wheezes and he glared viciously at the elder. "Will... kill... you!" he hissed between gasps. He gave himself another shake but the stallion's grip was strong. Even if he knocked over the elder it wouldn't necessarily break the grip on his throat.
Zulian wasn't a smart soquili but he was cunning. His strength was going to start fading if he couldn't draw breath, but there was an easy way out of the situation. His entire form shifted and twisted. He transformed into a massive tiger and was able to slip out of the hold in the process. His first action was to lunge at the elder's tail. He'd make sure that it couldn't be used for that again!
Samsara clung to the back of Bari as she ran. From her position on her back she took one slash after another. Soon the mare's back was crisscrossed with deep bloody scratches and her neck was bitten raw. While Bari was still crashing around there was little purpose to jumping off of her. For now she'd tear and tear until the mare could take no more.
She was about to take another bite when a giant bird charged at them. A bird? Samsara struggled to understand the creature that was heading toward them. Not a bird, a soquili covered in feathers. Samsara only had time for this realization before those same feathers were whirling around her and the mare was attacking.
Samsara barely managed to pull back in time to avoid being knocked out by the mare's hoof but it still hit her strongly enough to knock her teeth together. Samsara fell gracelessly off Bari's back to put her between herself and the stranger, snarling with rage.

Felise felt a surge of triumph as he started to budge ans lean, she was going to manage to pull him over, she gave a growl around the hair and flesh in her mouth. Growling again and biting harder as he started to pull back up, her hind feet shifting diging in harder.
Or they were till he kicked her, giving a yowl around his flesh, one of her feet loosing its base, he had got her in the joint, and while not broken it hurt a lot. Still with one foot on the ground she tried clawing at his belly with her now injured leg, but it didn't want to bend and work, the pain fresh.
Thinking better of pulling him over, having lost full use of one of her legs. Her front claws diging in more as her weight went onto his side again, her good leg clawing at his legs and belly, her other leg making similar motions but smaller more useless ones, his kick had made her lame in her leg. It would ease in time, maybe a few days but for now she would be limping.

Internally Haya cursed as the skinwalker slipped through his grip. He soon found himself face to face with a tiger. He had heard of such creatures from his mother but never thought to see one. The stories didn't do the beast justice. Haya was awed at the massive size of it, far larger than any mountain lion he had ever seen. He wouldn't be surprised if it outweighed a few members of the herd, too.
He whipped his tail out of the way barely in time to avoid it getting bit off. He jumped away several paces from the tiger and reared back. He kicked out with his massive front hooves with his ears pinned back against his head.
Bari was dumbfounded with shock and pain. The other mare had appeared out of nowhere and the skinwalker had fallen off her. Bari's eyes focused on the snarling monster to one side, staring in stunned silence. Another yowl from Samsara broke her from her trance. "Kill it!" she screamed shrilly. "Kill it, please!" She couldn't stand it any longer. She was bleeding and terrified out of her mind. She bolted away from both the mare and Samsara, not even looking over her shoulder to see if she was being followed.

Much to his surprise he didn't fall. His hoof had met it's target and for a time he thought he was better off. It was a short lived thought. He could feel her trying to claw him with her injured foot, it did little more than brushing against brambles. It was when she started attacking him with the other three legs that any hope he had of improving his situation went away.
He groaned feeling he claws slicing through his hide in several places. It stung and burned at the same time. It hurt, a lot, but there was no chance in hell that he was just going to let her claw him to death. Fresh out of clever ideas and not wanting to try another roll he began bucking, kicking and snapping at anything and everything.
Revyra was happy to have at least dislodged the wild cat but she could hear it hissing on the other side of the mare. They weren't out of danger yet. Just as she was about to order the white mare to get away she bolted leaving Revyra staring the cat down. "Well that takes care of that..." She muttered under her breath as she brought her wings up and out to make herself appear larger. The cat hadn't run off after being clipped so she got the feeling it was likely starving and desperate for food...or else it had gone mad. Either way...
She darted towards the animal stepping high and hard. Would it finally get the message and run or would she have to break it into pieces before it surrendered?

"Too stupid," growled Zulian. "Too slow." He rocked back on his haunches. He was practically pressed against the ground and the elder's hooves flew harmlessly over his head. He was a tightly coiled spring and then he was a burst of energy. He pounced at the elder with a roar and wrapped his paws in a grip of death around the arch of the elder's neck. His grip was secure and the next thing he would do was a bite to the windpipe. Now that he was in his true form there would be no stopping him.
Samsara seethed with fury. If she had been undisrupted she was certain she would have killed the mare! The thought of her escaped prey fleeing to safety made her blood boil. She wanted nothing more than to kill this mare that had cost her the victory. She spun out of range from the lashing out hooves and hissed in bitter rage.
"You! I'll kill you for what you've done! I'll kill you!" Her body gave a shudder and she transformed back into her soquili form once more. She was slung too low to the ground as a panther. She still wasn't as tall as the other mare like this but the buffeting wings would be less of a problem. "I'll kill you," she hissed again," keeping her distance but preparing to strike.

Things had been going well despite his kick, even after that she had felt her claws ripping into his flesh. She didn't like messy kills as a rule and her white fur was bound to be stained with his blood but a clean kill had been out once he hadn't gone down right away.
Hissing in pain as he started to buck, her lame leg did not like that, she was just too big to be able to hang on with this kind of action. But she could shrink, and so she did. Her cat form was smaller than many might expect of a pureblood, but it served her well, and right now that would help. Her claws smaller as were her teeth he would be forgiven for thinking she had come off. In fact she hadn't.
Being smaller she was more in a riding position now on his shoulders, her small claws shifting and digging in to make smaller fresh wounds on his neck. Shifting her bite and gripping into a roll of skin to one side of his neck, She could ride this out, all she had to do was wait and let him speed up the blood pumping out of him. Purring despite the fact that she was in pain and far from being content and comfy, happy as she realises every time she lost her grip a little she would cause new wounds regaining it. Yes it would take time but she could bleed him.
