Samsara thrummed with satisfaction. She could see the wakening bloodlust in the other skinwalker and Samsara felt her own imagination drifting to thoughts of carnage in the meanwhile. She had never really tried killing humans yet. It might be fun to turn her own destructive energies to their kind for a time. Humans were so soft and easily destroyed.
"Yes," she agreed with Terra. "Too many humans have forgotten why they should fear the dark. They think that we only exist in stories and nightmares." She took a step closer to Terra. "Let them wake up and find that their nightmares are real."

Terra's mind was filled with different scenarios of death and destruction. She could easily imagine the carnage that would be caused. However reality forced her to keep her raging emotions in check. The batwalker noted Samsara's pleased expression and satisfaction at the idea of there being some sort of camaraderie between them at a shared vision. Terra snapped her wings open as she sensed Samsara's movement bring her closer.
Raising one of the clawed wingtips Terra cocked her head to the side studying the other skinwalker. "The idea has appeal. But I will admit that I am at a loss to explain my inadequacy to this lifestyle. Is there anything that you could teach me about our kind?"

What a strange thing to say. Samsara had taken to the skinwalker lifestyle like a fish to water. She reveled in the hunting and killing and in the torment of those she used to care about. She didn't even understand how it was possible to be uncertain of a skinwalker's place in the world. Could it be that the humans had beaten her down so much that she had even repressed her most basic instincts?
Perhaps it was simply that there were no batwalkers around and she had been approached by no other skinwalkers. She watched Terra with calculating thoughtfulness. "What is it that you do not know?" she asked. "You can clearly hunt. We have no rituals or culture that I am aware of." To have skinwalker culture would mean that skinwalkers would have to spend long periods of time together. Samsara had led a band of skinwalkers before but she didn't imagine it would have worked out well in the long run.

Terra listened to Samsara's words. So according to the other mare there were no real guidelines that needed following? How interesting. Clearly then there was no sense of right or wrong in a skinwalker's modus operandi. Terra hummed thoughtfully at this. It gave one a sense of empowerment to know that there could be no repercussions for causing mayhem.
Thinking on her promise of revenge regarding the carnival had Terra just itching to go back. But first she needed to learn how to restrain her more reckless ideas.
"So you are saying that there is nothing more to learn about being a skinwalker besides hunting your prey? And acting maliciously towards others?"

This skinwalker truly was clueless. Samsara gave a dismissive flick of her head. "Do you not feel what it means to be a skinwalker within yourself?" She started a slow prowl around Terra, eying her as she did. The leaves crunched softly under her hooves as she did. She had never known how to be so silent before she was cursed.
"Any kalona can hunt, kill, and be malicious." She had respect for the kalona race, but they were still inferior to skinwalkers. They had just a whisper of that potential and madness in them. "We are different."
She remembered everything that she felt after becoming a skinwalker, the emotions that had boiled through her and left her scalded. "We are hate," she hissed. "We are pain, to ourselves and others. We are fear! We are hunger and longing. We are the animal awakened." She felt the rightness of those statements in the entirety of her being. She was all of those things, a skinwalker.

Terra's ears flicked back and forth silently as she kept tabs on Samsara's circular route around her. Coalescing her thoughts as Samsara spoke had a ripple of dark pleasure course through her. There had been times when she had felt just what the other skinwalker was describing. Most noticeably being her awakening to her "new life" and when she'd earned her freedom.
A malicious smirk began to form on Terra's face as she realized that maybe, deep inside of her, was something she was ready to unleash on the land. There would be no more time for petty vendettas against annoying alicorns and taunting would-be-meals. Maybe from now on ... things would be different. Her gaze narrowed on Samsara's lithe form as she watched the mare prowl around her - almost like a cobra waiting for the right opportunity to strike. Shuffling her feet and ruffling her leather wings Terra let her eyes close halfway - almost appearing languid in the darkness of the forest. Her mind was finally alive. This meant that although she was indebted to Samsara for the assistance ... she couldn't just let the other skinwalker go on her way.

There was definitely something going on in the mind of this 'Terra Stryker'. There was a connection between them right now and the bond was made from the same darkness that was in the heart of every skinwalker. They were united. Sisters. Samsara had to give herself a little smirk at that thought. She truly loathed all of her family.
She was slightly surprised that Terra would relax like that in her presence. Didn't she know not to let her guard down in front of one of their kind? They might be brothers and sisters of the same bloody family, but that equate to any sort of mercy. Maybe that would be another good lesson to teach her, Samsara considered cruelly.
She paused in her circling and watched. She waited to see if the mare would speak again. If she did not, Samsara would decide whether to strike or to leave her with her new calling.

Terra's gaze still was half-focused as she let the minute sensations she was experiencing tell her of any apparent danger. The batwalker could not exactly pinpoint Samsara's location but the small indications of her senses told her that she was just off the the right rear side of her circling when she had stopped. The mare's mind wondered, albeit briefly, what would injure someone more: a good solid kick from her hindquarters or a quick strike from the claw on her right wingtip if she could turn in time.
Speaking only to break the silence and to possibly elicit her exact location Terra let her voice echo in the night.
"I want to thank you Samsara. You've given me plenty to think about in the days to come. Perhaps even longer. However now that I finally have my mind straightened out it does not mean that I have to extend any courtesies to you in return."

A pulse of excitement surged in Samsara. It was time! Never before had she clashed with her own kind. She had been gaining prowess in attacking the lesser soquili that roamed the land but she felt that fate was telling her that now was the time to test her strength against a fellow skinwalker. She still felt the shame of her first failed attack on a soquili and how it had killed part of the pride within her. Now was the time to reclaim that!
"I don't recall mentioning that courtesy is a part of being a skinwalker," she hissed past a mouth full of fangs. The time for talking was past. Without waiting for a reply she jumped to attack. She tucked her wings tightly to her body to protect them and snapped out with her teeth. The rightness of the transition thrummed through her. This was the only satisfying way to end this encounter.

Terra bristled at Samsara's words. Her exact location had been revealed as she had planned and Terra met Samsara's attack by quickly lashing out with her hindquarters. There was a lot of untested power in the move and Terra laughed manically as she engaged her 'enemy.' The lust of battle surged through the mare as she wheeled around and snapped her wings wide open. The tips on her wings were sharp but she also had her teeth to injure with. Terra was built for this it seemed.
Although appearing menacing and truly behaving that way were two different things. Terra allowed silence in the wake of Samsara's attack and tried to focus on what the mare was doing instead of replying.

Samsara ducked to avoid Terra's giant wings and felt a gust of air that followed them. She had assumed that the wings would be too delicate to be used in a fight, like her own, but perhaps that was not the case. She didn't want to find out what would happen if she got hit with one of them at any rate.
She gave a predatory yowl and lunged for a perceived weakness, where the wings met the body. If she could do a bit of injury there then maybe the wings wouldn't be a problem at all! Even if the mare managed to dodge it, she'd still be in close range. Getting too close for the flapping wings to cause much damage might be her best strategy in this fight!

Terra's ears picked up Samsara's yowl as she tried to reduce the open areas on her body for attack. The impact though of the other skinwalker caught her off guard. It wasn't as heavy as an impact when she had fought Amitiel but it was still enough of a distraction to drive her backwards a few feet. Jostled, her wings retracted further along her back as she lunged forward towards Samsara.
A screeching cry tore from her though when Samsara managed to get inside of her attack range and get a small chunk of her left wing in her teeth. Pain lanced through her body as she fought to free herself.
This would not do at all. Remembering from when she first encountered Samsara Terra let loose with a series of high-pitched vocalizations in an effort to cause the other skinwalker to loosen her grip. Her free wing at the same time unfurled as she brought the clawed tip slashing down towards Samsara's face.

Samsara's triumph at landing an attack was short-lived. Her sensitive predator's ears were suddenly assaulted by the high pitched screeching and she let go of the other mare in order to shake her head to try to clear it. The same movement that brought her away from Terra kept her from being blinded by her wings. She had pulled back just far enough to turn the strike into a graze rather than a direct hit. Though she still had blood running down the side of her face, it was nowhere near what it would have been if she hadn't moved.
Though the screeching still rang in her ears, she still had the presence of mind to realize that she shouldn't take herself too far away from her opponent. She remembered the fight with her father and his allies where the winged mare had slapped her around with her wings. If she stayed close then Terra wouldn't be able to get a full attack with them.
Her head was already lowered, knocked down by the blow. She decided that now would be the perfect chance to try one of the moves she had been working on. She whipped her head upward and toward her foe. She had two pointed horns on the back of her head and they were aimed at Terra. If the batwalker didn't react in time, she risked impalement.

Terra shook off the pain that assaulted the joint of her left wing as she watched her wing graze Samsara's face. It wasn't as direct as the batwalker had hoped as her opponent had ducked out of the way. Terra inwardly knew that she was still at a disadvantage when it came to evening out strengths. Sure enough just as she was mentally distracted she caught the movement of Samsara's head driving towards her and she stepped awkwardly to the side. It was a close miss. Terra tucked her left wing tightly to her body before hissing in frustration.
The instinctive rage that seemed to have driven her motions moments before simmered quietly just under the surface as she examined her side for any more injuries. A more cautious Terra watched Samsara carefully. Fleeing seemed the better idea and the sooner the better. But how to get out of the fight with an injured wing. She could take to her bat form but flight would be risky. It seemed better to risk flight than try running from battle.
With that decision in mind Terra shifted back to her smaller form and took laboriously to the nearest tree branch out of Samsara's reach. The perch wouldn't be safe for too long if pursuit followed but it allowed an out for the injured skinwalker.

Samsara gave a snap at the bat as Terra flapped away but her teeth found nothing but air. A frustrated growl rose in her throat. The fight was over so soon! She still had desire to battle and taste blood. She paced underneath the tree branch with the frustration of a thwarted animal. Even if she transformed and went up the tree after her the bat could just fly away elsewhere. Though she was certain she could kill the bat if she set her teeth to it, catching it would be no easy task.
Full of aggravation and dissatisfaction Samsara turned and trotted away, not saying a word to the other skinwalker as she left. It wasn't worth it to her to waste all that time and effort when likely Terra would just fly away and disappear. She had other things to do and other creatures to kill. She could still hear Terra's screeching in her ears and she shook her head to clear them.
"I would have killed her," she hissed to herself. "I won." She had come a long way from the first time she had fought another soquili and she had been the one to flee. Now she had almost killed a mare, Parnasabari. She had fought with another one of her own kind and come out ahead. She smirked a little. Her claws were only growing sharper with the more soquili she tested them against. She could hardly wait to try them again.
