"I told you.. i was eight at the time. So it would be.. eight-teen years ago.. in Winter.. I cant remember the exact date.." Vlad said gently. "And it was in a hick town in the States. Utah, Dugway... i think." Vlad said as he frowned and finished up his cigar. "Details are a bit fuzzy, since i try to put that whole series of events out of my mind. But.. thats never worked.. and its always there in the back of my mind... haunting me." Vlad said as he tossed the butt of his cigar in the garbage once he was sure it was out. He closed his eyes for a moment, before he opened them and brought his gaze back onto Romane. "I committed the crime when i was young, out of self defense and not on Nirvani soil. So what now Romane?" Vlad asked her gently. Could she really arrest him for a past crime? And was it really a crime? He had killed a bad man and his wife who was equally bad. They had raped and tortured himself and the girls. Not to mention how young he had been. No jury would convict him. Hell they'd probably convince him to plead insanity if he was even brought to trial. Should anyone really be punished for bringing down the Earths scum? He didnt think so...

-Rachel Fate & Sophia Fate-
Had Rachel considered this might've been one of Romane's hunches? Why definitely. But, Vladimir seemed pretty compliant once the cuffs where out. She hadn't been excited about the smoking but... she'd deal. Well she'd have to with what he said next. Rachel didn't say a word, simply processing all that she was being told. Life hadn't been easy on the blond, and working as a police officer for a good number of years tended to make hearing these stories much easier. Still, it was a strong pill to swallow. Rachel's gaze fell to the male, though it wasn't one of horror or disgust.
Romane was going to handle this though. That much had been established. This was still considered a crime, by law anyways... but Rachel had often seen how law screwed things up. In this case... there wasn't much they could do, especially if it was out of their district.

Eighteen years? The case would have already been closed by now, likely as an accident if it was a fire as he said.. It was out of their distract as well, which would make it even harder to reopen it – not to mention, even with a confession, they wouldn't have much more proof. Vladimir had gone through a traumatic event with no aid to help him, which didn't really help his mental stability, so his confession could possibly be overlooked with a good enough lawyer.. The General Store was a good enough business to allow the Tepes to afford at least the local one, whom she knew to be excellent at his work.. In the end, even if she managed to get the case to be reopened, there was little chance he would be sent to prison over it. “Do not speak to me so informally, Mr. Tepes.” She broke her thoughts at his last word, frowning at him for thinking that they were at all on a friendly basis after this. “Ma'am or officer will be satisfactory.”
She glanced at Rachel again, her frown persisting as the woman didn't step in. Was she in control? True, the blond was only supervising.. But, this was a tad more than Romane had expected to be entrusted with. A potential murderer? Ah, but, Romane knew the law just as well as Rachel did – there weren't very many options. “..You have not been proven to have committed any offense in this area,” Though he was heavily suspected. Still, not enough to really give him a criminal status. “and considering the age, distance, and your current mental stability, I believe the best option would be to allow you to leave with no further questions. However,” She hardened her stare at him after a short pause, “that is only if you continue to abide by the local laws. I would request you avoid the local priest and church, although we can not force you to do so. You may leave.”

I havent been proven to have committed a crime? Vlad questioned in his head. Vlad shook his head in disbelief. "Havent been proven.. so you still think ive done something. Even after all this? After two years of stalking me.. Officer." Vlad said the hurt tone in his voice was too clear. "Ive lived here for five years, or going on five, ive lost track, either way. I havent even thought of going near the Church or the local Priest and to even suggest i would go and hurt an innocent person like that?" Vlad scoffed lightly and frowned. It hurt.. it really did. So in the end she was just a paranoid Cop. Not looking after him for his safety but for others.. because he was the bad guy.. somehow. She couldnt prove it.. but somehow he was. "Unbelievable." Vlad got up and straightened his coat. He started to head for the door when he stopped and turned to face Romane again. "For the record.. not that my word means anything apparently. I would never think of harming an innocent person male or female, and i would never hurt a child. And do you know why? Because of the s**t that happened to me. The only thing ive ever been guilty of and would ever be guilty of.. would be killing a rapist, murderer or *****. But id sooner kill myself, then become one." He said before he opened the door. "Thanks for the trip down memory lane Officer.. " Vlad said in a condescending tone before he left the room and slammed the door shut on his way out. Yeah he was pissed, and he thought rightfully so. Vlad left the station to head back to his store, the day had started off so nicely.. only to go to s**t. What was it with people here? Even Bela had thought he was a creep before they had been kidnapped. What was it about him that warranted the untrue labels?

"..." Well that was intense. Romane honestly had the tact of a nuclear warhead, which was displayed in the last words she had for Vladimir. No wonder the man snapped back like that. She couldn't blame the redhead for being concerned, but she WAS paranoid. Wait... "Romane... What exactly did he mean by stalking for two years?" questioned the blond, focusing her gaze on her partner. Out of all of that, well the reaction was expected and really the only thing noteworthy was that little comment.

..Well, that was a lovely end to Romane's first interaction with Vladimir in the last two years. She was tense throughout his reply, internally wincing at the tone. She grit her teeth at the door slam and her eyes went to the right side of the room, away from Rachel. Had she done wrong that day? No. No, she hadn't. Romane knew she couldn't have; she had just done what she was expected to do! She even let him go, when she had every opportunity to keep him in the holding cell until this was cleared! It was a danger to let him out without further investigation – Rachel would know that. But, she didn't.. want to. Putting the cuffs on him disturbed her enough – what would he do if she barred him to a cell? Yes, in the end, she rebounded onto her own wants rather than what she should do.
The idea irritated her, enough so that when Rachel spoke, she snapped out, “A potential *****>, confessed murderer, and certainly unstable man left the room and you choose to question me on that, Rachel?” She had turned towards the woman, eyes narrowed and frown in place – until she remembered just where she was. Her eyes lowered to the table and she took on an apologetic expression – at her superior.. Truly, Romane wasn't being the best she could be today, was she? “I apologize, Sheriff Fate.”

Rachel merely raised an eyes at Romane's reaction, giving her just enough time to correct that. She understood the other's worry, and frankly she had a good point, still, it was Romane. "He can always be found and arrested, you are a little trickier Romane" commented Rachel before her gaze turned to the closed door. She didn't say much else for the next few moments. "You would do well to still keep an eye on him. Just not so obvious that he'll notice you." Stalking wasn't exactly smiled upon... though Romane was right, the takes on Vladimir weren't good at all... it had to be warched.

Romane's head had remained lowered as Rachel went on, a frown at the edge of her lips. She was right. A cop performing a deed like that was not only more difficult to capture, but it was also revolting in every form. Her role was to protect the law, not break it! She was half expecting she be suspended again, but.. the next line wasn't that. Not at all. She jerked her head back up with a questioning look at the woman, honestly confused. She was asking her to.. stalk better? She wanted to inform Rachel that that wasn't what she should be doing, but.. she wasn't going to correct her superior on how to do her job, not when she was just an officer. Not to mention that the fact Rachel was agreeing with her brought her spirits back up. It wasn't just a shake of the head; she.. was taking her seriously. She would have smiled had she not given up on the action years ago. “Affirmative, ma'am. Do you require reports of the tracking, Sheriff?” Oh, she would love to have more paperwork. Romane wasn't nearly as busy as she liked, so every opportunity had to be taken.

"Please do" answered Rachel with a slight nod. Maybe she was getting plagued by Romane's hunches, but it probably wouldn't hurt to let the woman keep an eye on him. "Be careful though" added the blond in a softer tone. The woman had said he was unstable after all. Or possibly assumed it... "And remember, just keep an eye on him. If you spot any questionable behavior, contact me. Do not jump in." On this Rachel wanted to be very clear. One thing was to watch him, another was to let Romane jump him at anytime she deemed fit. "Now I have some work to finish. Continue with your duties Romane" said the blond before leaving to her office to continue the damn paperwork.

Romane nodded at the sheriff as she left the room and, with as happy as this had made her, even saluted the woman for giving her this chance! This was an actual job, something to waste her time on whenever Rachel was busy socializing outside of the cabin – when Julian wasn't there for her to watch, which really just involved Romane staring at the child for very long periods of time dutifully. The woman took 'watching the baby' as a very literal and serious task, which few would probably know as it was normally done alone with the boy that with anyone.. Ah, well. The point was that she had work to do and she was happy as can be to have it occupy her free time! Poor Vladimir wouldn't get much of a break after this allowance, but, if it made any consolation, she was definitely going to be far more careful in her surveillance now that before, true to Rachel's requests.
