((Posting for BFK because her internet is broken and not mine for once.))

"Okay," he agreed with a nod, watching her put the maps away, though felt a sudden pang of nervousness at the prospect of their plans for the evening, especially when she said she'd count on him to lead. Crap, he wasn't good at leading.. oh. "Oh, alright," he replied with slightly raised brows as she offered the pokeball, which he took gingerly before glancing at it momentarily, then clipped it to his belt. "I have my slingshot and stuff too, just in case." The aforementioned implement was half-pulle from a pocket to indicate that he did indeed have it in his possession, then slipped it back.

He spared a glance back at his bag, frowning at it thoughtfully for some moments. It was too bulky to bring with them - it was made for camping, after all, not stealth - so he had to leave it. After pondering for several moments, he picked it up and carefully placed it into the tree branches above them, positioning it so it wouldn't be immediately noticeable if no one were looking for it, and also so it wouldn't fall. "There," he said with a nod, then turned to his company. Arceus, he was nervous. "I guess we should go now?" He really wasn't good at this sort of thing... But then again, he'd never had to be.

She nodded at the slingshot, remembering the Poison Powder bombs he had demonstrated when they'd met. "Do you know what sort of effects a pokemon's Poison Powder has on humans?" she asked curiously. The entire base had been warned against unauthorized murder - some more personally than others - and while poison seemed to have a mild and temporary effect in pokemon, the creatures often proved more durable than their trainers.

Aila watched approvingly as Inigo found a place for his large backpack. "Ready when you are," she agreed, starting in the direction of Sandalwood. She paused momentarily. "If you're worried at all, don't be. I'm quite good at this sort of thing." She offered a smile as she folded her arms behind her back. He was a college student, after all, studying science and pokemon and living with his parents who made cake for him to share with friends. She could perceive where suddenly being thrust into a stealth mission would make him nervous. It would, however, provide a good opportunity for her to evaluate his potential in terms of off-base assignments, should he choose to accept her invitation after.

"Not really, no," he admitted with a slight crease of his brow as he started to walk beside Aila. "I have a bunch of sleep powder bombs too, but poison powder's easier to come by because Leilani can do it. Not sleep powder thoug, so I... Might've nicked some from the university's supplies," he admitted sheepishly, reaching up to rub the back of his neck. Hey, nobody had noticed, so it wasn't that big a deal, right? Right.

It wouldn't be too long before the pair reached the outskirts of Sandalwood, their leisurely pace ensuring that the sun had already set by the time they arrived. Even though they walked in the dark, Inigo still made sure to avoid any lights on the way to the university. "That's it up there," he said after a while, raising a hand to point at a large collection of buildings not too far off. "The science building should be over on the left side, coming from this direction." Not like he hadn't gone there a million times - or practically lived there some days - and knew exactly how to get there, of course.

"All right, let's stick to the Sleep Powder for now, then. We don't want to risk injuring them for no reason. It'll attract unwanted publicity from the media, moreso than this operation will already..." Recently expelled student breaks into university campus to steal immoral research and confiscated pokemon. The last thing that headline needed was a subtitle about security guards being killed via Poison Powder after attempting to subdue the criminal.

As they neared the campus, Aila regarded it from afar, pulling a new pokeball from her waist and pressing the release to reveal the form of a Mismagius. "Scout ahead," the ghost's human said with a gesture in the university's direction. "We'll be following behind shortly." Revenant nodded and proceeded forward, fading into invisibility a short ways ahead.

As she did, Aila pressed the switch on a second pokeball, bringing a Pikachu to her side; Inigo might have noticed the similarity in its coloration to the recently departed Mismagius. Eclair glanced between the two humans excitedly, recognizing both, but Aila quickly garnered her attention by crouching in front of her. "Eclair, this is work," she placed a great deal of emphasis on the word; this would be the first mission the electric-type had participated in, and her trainer was worried about the potential for disobedience. "Stay by my side, and be ready with Thunder Wave whenever I say."

Suddenly a bit nervous, Eclair gave a quiet "chuu" and jumped to perch on Aila's shoulder, awaiting the signal that she was apparently supposed to expect.

"Lead the way."

"Alright," he agreed, reaching into one pocket to pull out a large handful of the powder bombs. He picked out all the pale blue ones, placing the rest in his opposite pocket, then replaced the blue ones into the original pocket that also held his slingshot - his right. There; the last thing he needed was to accidentally mix them up when it counted most. Suddenly he was even more nervous.

The Mismagius was regarded with raised brows, though since he wasn't one for subtleties - at all - he completely missed any possible similarities between the ghost and the Pikachu. He was similarly pleased to see her, though when Aila told the electric-type this was work, it reminded him as well, thus eliminating any previous desire to greet the cute pokemon. "Uh?" Oh, right. Lead. "Uh, right," he corrected, then shook his head. "No, I mean alright, not to the right.." It was obvious he was more than just a little nervous considering the circumstances, but nonetheless he headed towards the left, hoping he'd be able to immediately recognize the correct building in the dark. He'd never come here at night before, and while it normally wouldn't be a concern if he did, their current goal - and what they had to do to reach said goal - were making him more anxious than he needed to be.

Noting his floundering correction, Aila touched a gentle hand to his shoulder momentarily. "Relax," she said, inclining her head with a mild smile. "You're more likely to mess up if you're nervous. I promise you, this will be quick and painless." She spared a glance towards the Pikachu on her shoulder, implying that the same went for her as well, and followed in the indicated direction - left, not right. She lingered near Inigo in hopes that her presence would help alleviate any concerns that were plaguing him.

He turned a startled expression toward Aila as she touched his shoulder, but quickly tried to make himself relax. It wasn't working too well. "Sorry," he sighed as he returned his focus to the task at hand, though inwardly appreciated Aila staying close to him. Even though he was nervous, it did help at least marginally to know he wasn't doing this alone. If anything, he was doing this with a professional, so he shouldn't be nervous at all. Too bad his mind didn't work like that.

It didn't take long to reach the University grounds, though Inigo opted to stick to the left and stay behind the line of trees just outside to lessen the chance of being spotted by anyone that might happen to be wandering the grounds. Okay, now, science building, science building... Where..? Ah. "There," he said quietly, pointing to one building up ahead, in between two others. "That's it." Now he was really nervous.

Aila regarded the building with a critical scrutiny, searching for any lights through the visible windows. Revenant appeared at the height of the structure, waving to signal an all-clear. Another pokeball found another pokemon nearby, a Metagross this time, one Inigo would likely remember as the impromptu steed she had used to transport herself through the forest. Swiftly and gracefully, she hopped aboard the steel-type, gesturing for Inigo to do the same and offering a hand for assistance if he needed it. "We'll enter through the roof," she said. "Less conspicuous, and Revenant says the top floor is clear at the moment."

"Oh, uh, okay," he responded, blinking in surprise. The roof? Well, she was the expert, so if she said the roof, then they'd go in through the roof. It took a few moments to figure out how to get on the Metagross, since he was used to trees or Leilani sometimes, but before long he was sitting cross-legged beside Aila. "Alright," he nodded, finally noticing the Mismagius above the building. Huh. Well, as long as they could get in and get Leilani and his other pokemon back, as well as some of his research, then get out as quickly as possible they'd be good. He really hoped there wouldn't be any complications.

Through use of Magnet Rise, the small assembly ascended into the air behind the building, and within a few short moments they had reached the summit. Aila surveyed the flat surface with a slight frown. "Wait here," she said, hopping from the Metagross's back and approaching the large fan and ventilation system with a swift stride. Kneeling before one of the grates, she inspected it carefully before returning to the hovering steel-type and embarking. "Down a floor, please." She removed her backpack, pulling out a small toolkit and inspecting its contents as she explained, "I misinterpreted the aerial photos. It's not possible enter through the means I had originally planned. Revenant reported that the top floor is clear, though, so entry shouldn't be a problem." They just needed to enter from a different point, and Aila already had a back-up in mind.

Pitre stopped his descent near a large window on the top floor, and Aila went to work, pulling a relatively large glass cutter from her toolkit and carefully cutting away a segment that would allow them entry. The cut portion fell quietly into her hands, and she murmured an "excuse me" before setting the sheet down on the flat surface of the Metagross. "Eclair, you first." She extended her arm, the beginnings of disapproval taking form on her features when the Pikachu hesitated. It was just enough to spur her on, and the electric-type jumped into the building, planting small paws on the cool flooring. Aila proceeded next, springing off the Metagross and through the window. "Can you make it?" she said, her tone hushed - Revenant had disappeared once more which that meant she was keeping guard in the hall, but Aila didn't want to risk anyone hearing. The gap between the hovering transit and the building was negligible to someone with proper training, but she stood ready to lend assistance if either his nerves or a lack of experience impeded him.

Inigo watched curiously as she hopped off, inspected stuff on the roof, then descended to the next floor and took out a chunk of the window. After she and Eclair hopped in, he peered after them a bit nervously. "Uhh.." He'd been climbing trees practically his whole life, and as such moderate heights were nothing to him. Hovering next to the top floor of a building, however, was not like climbing a tree. Not at all. "Uh, I think so," he said hesitantly, though it was clear he had absolutely no experience with jumping through windows whatsoever. Just pretend it's a tree or something. Just a tree he had to jump out of. A very tall, high tree with no lower branches to grab in case he fe--

Nope, just a tree. He was okay with trees, so clearly pretending this was just like jumping out of a tree - or even jumping branches - would be exactly the same. Obviously. No problem, none whatsoever. Nope, none at all. He hesitated another moment or two to gauge the distance and the space available made by cutting the glass, then finally jumped in after the pair. He wasn't anywhere near as graceful and almost fell over in the process - but he didn't! - but at least he was in safe and sound, and he sighed lightly. There, that wasn't so bad! "What now?" He asked quietly, not sure where the ghost-type had gone or if it was even safe to proceed anywhere yet.

Aila watched patiently as Inigo leapt - or perhaps stumbled - from the Metagross, which she promptly recalled into a pokeball to store until its presence was required once again. She nodded to her companion in a mild show of praise before turning to the dark maw of the bordering halls.

"I wasn't able to secure detailed maps of the interiors of the academic buildings, unfortunately, so I'll need you to lead from here," she said, stepping away from the slight breeze of the gaping window and half turning on her heel to face Inigo. She carried herself nonchalantly, as if they were strolling through a park rather than a locked-down university building.

"It's not too hard to figure out, the hallways are pretty straightforward," he said softly, following her out into the halls and trying to walk as quietly as possible. Oh, he had to lead again. He paused for a moment, a slight furrowing of his brow indicating his thoughtfulness before a light sigh escaped him. "If all my stuff is in that office, then we have a ways to go. It's down on the first floor." And they were on the top floor. Wasn't too much, but still more than he wanted to deal with. Unlike Aila, this did not feel like a walk in the park to him. Not in the least.

"First floor? Mm, not too bad. I suppose it makes sense for the director's office to be in some central location..." Important places like that were generally kept either on the first floor or the top floor, and retrospectively it made sense for the office of the department head to be somewhere easily accessible by visiting students. "Very well then. Considering the building is closed, it would probably be wise to descend via the stairs rather than an elevator." She moved forward at a pace that kept her even with Inigo as she surveyed the walls for an indication of the nearest staircase, keeping eyes and ears open for any sign from the Mismagius she knew was lurking nearby.

He nodded his agreement - not that he didn't want to talk to her, of course, but he figured silence was better for stuff like this, even when he wasn't experienced with it at all really - and set off towards the closest set of stairs. Despite not being at the university too long, he'd at least come to this building and explored it often enough to know where all the staircases were.

After a few moments the pair arrived at the stairwell, and Inigo paused at the top to try and hear anything from the lower levels. He couldn't, but he was still a bit nervous to go anyway, so he turned to Aila instead. "D'you think it's safe?" If she thought it was safe then that was another story, but for him any doors or stairs had the potential to house every single teacher and security guard on campus.
