"What? No, I don't-- I mean--" He looked helplessly to Isadora. "Is this a trick question?" He had never been good at trick questions.

By now, the situation had become rather uncomfortable for all parties involved, it seemed. Isadora herself had become quite aggravated, though she did her damnedest not to betray herself too much. Stay calm, but get the point across. That was the key. "Allow me," she quietly said to Lucas before turning her full attention to the flustered waitress. "I'm sorry, but we have no interest in the onion rings. The gesture is very kind and is appreciated, but it is completely unnecessary. So, if you please, we both would like to enjoy our meals in peace."The waitress stared blankly at Isadora for a second or two, then a bright look of realization hit her and she frowned apologetically. " Ooooh, oh, oh... I'm so sorry about all of this." She looked from Lucas to Isadora and back to Lucas. "I didn't know you two were boyfriend and girlfriend." Isadora's eyes went wide and she blinked. "...Wait, what?"

And Isadora took the reigns, much to Lucas's relief. Well, maybe she was a little more blunt than he would have liked her to be, but--
Were he eating or drinking something at that exact moment, he probably would have choked and died. And somehow he felt as though that would be preferable to dealing with that degree of misunderstanding.
"Don't make stupid assumptions!" A sudden straightening of his posture indicated an even more sudden rage, though both quickly gave way to a subtle shame and a meager apology, "Er, sorry..." Number 1 way to make friends: vehement objections against all romantic involvement. Regardless of how many friends it would make him, he would argue, it was a sore subject that he didn't want approached on any terms but his own.

Isadora had no real response to such an assumption. She thought they were dating, her and Lucas? The very thought was ludicrous! Their relationship was strictly professional; patient and doctor, as well as teammates and colleagues. To think that... they were a couple...! She raised an eyebrow at Lucas' outburst, wondering what exactly would make him react such a way besides pure shock and disbelief. The waitress flinched away a bit when Lucas shouted and became rather frazzled. She made a short sigh as he apologized. "S'fine, sorry for assuming things..." She turned on her heels, plate of onion rings in hand, and began to walk curtly away before she paused and turned around to face the two. "I really am sorry. But, I have to admit..." Her mouth formed into a small smile. "You two look like you'd make a really cute couple!" With that, she departed and disappeared.

The waitress's parting words caused him to wince slightly, and with a sigh he rested his forehead against his palm, eyes closed as he seethed with something that wasn't quite distinct enough to be called anger. "Do you wanna go? I'd really like to go." It was taking all of his self-control not to just stand up and walk away, not so much for a want to get away from the waitress as much as for a need to move around and get into different scenery.

"...Yeah. We can go," Isadora replied quietly. She wasn't quite sure what to make of that waitress. She was so... odd. And to say such things about her and Lucas... Simply ridiculous. Absolutely unheard of. Out of the question. ...Right? Right. She took one last bite of her pasta - which was still quite delicious - and stood up, retrieving her coat and the rest of her belongings. Well... that was one interesting meal. She glanced back to Lucas. "The question is... where are we going to go?"

He stopped at the register, drawing out his wallet to pay for the meal, before addressing Isadora's question, "Ah, well... Anywhere's fine. Was there anything else you were gonna do before heading back?" He would be fine with anything that provided enough of a stimulus to prevent his thoughts from wandering, he decided, and just about anything but sitting silently in one place would fulfill that requirement.

Isadora considered Lucas' question as he paid for their meal. Was there anything else she really needed...? "Well... I was planning on going shopping for some things, but..." She shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. "...If you don't want to, I understand."

"No, sure, that's fine," he waved off the concern dismissively, pulling open the restaurant's door to allow Isadora to pass before exiting himself. "I haven't really got any other plans today, so I'm fine with whatever." Besides that, it was exceptionally boring to wander around the city with no company and no goal.

"Oh, excellent! I'm so glad, thank you!" Isadora clapped her hands together in her delight. Of course, it didn't really seem like Lucas would outright refuse to accompany her on her shopping excursion. That just wasn't in his character. She was afraid that he wouldn't be happy doing so, though, and so his readiness was a relief to her. She smiled as he held open the door for her and they walked out of the restaurant. How kind he was. It seemed chivalry wasn't truly dead. As she took a look about her to assess her current position, she came upon a slight snag. Her face twisted into a confused frown as she turned back to Lucas. "The only trouble is... I'm not quite sure where the store I'm looking for is, exactly..." She chuckled somewhat sheepishly.

"Mm..." He glanced around the area. "Uh, well, I know this is the commerce area, more towards the food-related side of it... Sorry, I'm not really familiar with the city. Think I came here once before with Claire and that's it." That wouldn't stop him from looking, though, and he took a few steps forward to better view the surrounding stores. "What is it you're looking for, exactly?"

"Bath and Body Works," Isadora immediately replied and immediately regretted. It sounded so awkward, going to such a store with a man accompanying her, but... She sighed and chuckled a bit, embarrassed. "Of course, I don't expect you to know where that would be off of the top of your head or anything, but, well..." She looked away, lips pressed tightly together to avoid making any other silly remarks. Instead of trying to explain her actions or words, she simply picked a direction and began walking towards it, silently unsure if she was going the right way in the slightest. "L-let's just try this way first, mm?"

Amused, he chuckled at her words, "No, can't say I'm terribly familiar with that one. I've got an idea, though..." He pulled a pokeball from his waist and nonchalantly called out the occupant, a dimly-colored Growlithe. The fire-type regarded the pair of humans eagerly, tail wagging in excitement. "Hey Fetch. Need ya to find a store. It uh... It smells kind of... flowery? But not a flower shop, and probably full of women. Come find us when you've got something." With a bark, Fetch ran off in the opposite direction from where the humans proceeded. That way they could cover more ground more quickly, and Lucas could always send Merry after the Growlithe if they found their destination first.

"Oh. Oh, well... That's a pretty good idea, too." Isadora was surprised by the ingenuity of Lucas' idea. The way he described the store was rather strange, though. Accurate, but strange. "Flowery and full of women..." Yeah, that definitely fit that store to a T. "Now, then, should we start looking?" Isadora began walking once again in her previously picked direction. "It doesn't have to be just me who gets some things, though. Is there anything you'd like to get while we're in town, Lucas?" After all, it was only polite to ask. She didn't want to feel like a freeloader, hogging all of the nice things one could only find in the city.

With a hum of agreement, Lucas started forward as well, placing his hands in his pockets. "Uhh, well..." Did he need anything? "I could use a new scope, but I don't think I'll be able to find one with the specs I need... I'll probably have to build it myself." Wait, no, she probably wasn't talking about things like that. "Uhh, I dunno... I guess I could probably do with some shirts that aren't long-sleeved? Don't really have anything for when it gets warm." He had arrived in Kodo with almost literally nothing more than the clothes on his back, and he anticipated needing something lighter in the imminent future with the seasons changing as they were.
