 "Hmm...", was his only answer for a short while. He had wanted to know if she had taken any notice to her surroundings when getting herself lost. Apparently not, poor child. Then gain, he should have known that if she had been paying attention she might have been able to find her way back on her own.
"The lake isn't far from here." He said quietly, pressing on down along the side of the river, "If you're ever lost all you need to do is find the river- it makes a sound so just listen to it. Follow the direction of the water and you'll always come to the lake."

The cub blinks, how could the river tell her where to go?! Curious, she peers over to it. It dosen't seem to different.. Accept for that small detail she didn't notice, it mooved. She'd probably only noticed, if she dipped a paw in, wihout splashing it around. But then she notices, leaves. A few leaves dropped off the trees, and floated past her like boats. It was faster than the lake water, they'd just.. booey a bit, very slowly. But these ones looked so much faster! "Leaves are scared! " She gasps, sticking a paw in to try and scoop one out, but failing.

"Maji chuckled and shook his head slowly, "No no, they're showing you that the water moves." He bent down to pick up a small twig and moved to the side of the water, tossing it out enough so it would get caught in the current. "You see? If you ever doubt which way the water is going, pieces of the earth like sticks and leaves will show you. It's most useful at night when it's difficult to see how the waves are moving. You can find your way just about anywhere by following a river... just remember which way it was going when you were walking."

The leaves were helping her? The leaves culd help! She tugs a small leaf off a bush, putting it on her paw and whispering something, before plasing it in the water. "Thanks leaf! " She squeals as it moves, before looking to Maji. "Leaf sais that way. " She affirms, before looking back to the leaf and scuttling after it. "Wait up! Kimaji isn't that fast! "

Maji chuckled, following behind the cub. She was such a free spirit. Were his cubs this happy? If anything else, he wished to know that above all else... was Ciyari good to them? The lion's expression sunk a bit as he pondered on that, glad that the small cub's attention was elsewhere for the moment. Why had she run? Why...
Again he cleared his throat and shook out his mane to distract himself. No, his job now was to see this little one to her father... then perhaps speak with the father about staying in these lands if that's what he intended. Perhaps he was one of the ancients and coudl tell him more of his parents... if he was fortunate enough to have known of them.

The cub didn't really manage to keep up with the leaves for long, though, the current carried them faster than her stubby legs could run. "Leaves run fast. " Shenods, stopping before sitting down. "Why do they hurry so much? " She asks, stillnot quite understanding that it was the current carrying them. "Swaii sleeps alot, thats why Kimaji's always walking off. She wants to catch something for him! " She nods, obviously enjoying to make him proud. "Thanks for teaching Kimaji how to ask leaves for favours! "

Maji chuckled softly as the cub gave chaise to the leaf, "They're only going as fast as the water's going. You see, the water's moving but sometimes it's hard to tell, if you put a leaf into the water, the water will show you how fast it's going and in which direction. The leaf shows you what the water can't." He smiled, taking another leaf from the ground and dropped it in the water, "If you can't keep up with the first one, you can put another one in and follow it until it's out of sight, then do it again until you've reached where you need to go." He smiled, nodding further downstream, "This stream will always take you back to the lake."

She waches the leaf, before looking back at Maji. "Don't they ever get bored? " The same thing, over and over and over again? That seemed so.. uneventfull. "And why can't the water show me? " Maybe she was asking an unaswerable question or two, but hey, she was a curious cub, and that wasen't hard to tell. Most cubs would also be like that anyways, wanting to know, wanting to go to places, play, ask questions.. At least Kimaji did, and it didn't seem like it was about to change.

"Not really, the leaf's journey won't stop ever... you see the leaf will eventually meet the ground again, and it'll feed the ground so a new tree can grow- make new leaves you see." He smiled, clawing at the ground slightly, "The dirt is old leaves, trees, flowers, even things like bugs and that sort of thing. I'm sure you've seen logs that have plants growing on them, their bark's soft and fragile- they used to be just like the other trees you see here." He nodded upwards.
At the second question he chuckled, at a bit of a loss of how to logically answer it, "The leaf and the water work together. The leaf can't move without the water- so... I suppose both are showing you the way."

"How can the ground eat? It dosen't have a mouth. " She blinks, how did it do that?! That wasen't possible, no! It can't eat without a mouth! But then again, sense when does a cub know anything about this stuff? "Thanks water! " She grins after hearing him say that the water also helped.
"Do the sticks also help? "
