Ah! So I would be "farming" when I level down to play Waterworks for Gold and Orbs?
What is this "kill for badge" you talk about?

"Farming"? What's that?
At the moment, I'm like 3.4 on zOMG. I can't get farther than Bill's Ranch.
Any advice for progress is greatly appreciated.
Honestly, if this is a "clan," it should have tutorials for zOMG to help members rank up.

This thread topic is 'farming' which means staying in one place and killing one kind of animated over and over as a means of gaining gold and/or a badge. This is not a tutorial thread. I think what you are looking for would be the thread with the title "zOMG guides...." which also appears under the zMG subforum. If that is not helpful, there is a zOMG help thread and a Q & A thread in the Main Forum, that is where you need to post for zOMG help. I just happened to be browising, or would not have seen your post.
As I answered elsewhere, for you to continue past Bill's Ranch, you need to go to Dead Man's Pass and you will need to crew with at least one experienced person to succeed. After you get familiar with that area and crewing and buffing, you will have the needed skills to move into Zen.
On the My Gaia toolbar, click on the Q for quests and badges (or, better, hover and use the dropdown menu).
You get badges mostly for killing x many of a certain animated, and some you get for going to a certain place or places. Some animateds have a badge for 50, 500, and 5000, but not all. (Some only get 1 or 2 badges.) If you skip the badges as you move through the areas, be sure to reduce your cl when you go back to work on them, or you won't get as much gold/rings/recipes/ingredients - and may get none at all, if your cl (charge level, # of equipped orbs) is too high.
Always try to load your rings evenly, the same number of orbs on each ring you have equipped. It makes you a better player.
Other things you need to learn are what rings work best in what ways at what times, and some work better as sets. Again, the zOMG Guides thread will help.
