"When am I -not- scowling." he shot back, at least aware that it was his 'normal' look. "... but I'll concede I don't call, though at least PART of that is that I don't expect you to answer the phone."
He shifted and gazed down at Ever quietly... "So... what do you want... what's... wrong?" He shook his head and ran a hand through his own hair almost self conscious, it made it stick at odd angles.

Ever thought about it for a moment, debating glib answers and then more serious ones and mostly just watching Zac, for the time being. He found it oddly reassuring, relaxing. He really didn't mind Sabine, but she wasn't exactly restful -- since he had to be on his best behavior. Alas.
"...mmp. I don't know. I was a bit worked up..." He shifted, shrugged, like it didn't really matter now. The key word was 'was'. "Kinda frustrated. It's okay, I guess. Though I might be out of a job."

-That- got him a startled look, the arms even unfolded for a moment as he twisted more to stare fully at Ever. "What? Why?" He blinked repeatedly. "You're working with TONY, He's got to be one of the most... laid back people...as far as I can tell I mean..." He said and shook his head.
Then swept his arms back up to cover up again and cast about for the ridiculously sized bathrobe. He grabbed it up off the floor and shrugged it on, crossing it over his chest. "Sorry..." He said calming down... "Go on..."

"Tony hates us." He just tossed it out there, somewhat careless, so he wouldn't have to think about it too hard. Like it didn't matter, even if it really, really did. Even if it had left him obsessing and drinking himself near into a stupor just a few nights ago, he was so frustrated. He blinked up at Zac, gone sober and serious.
"Not us like...I mean, he hates what we do. He saw me in uniform and jumped me." Ever shrugged, so uneasy about this that he didn't even slide any subtext under there.

"Ah... Us..." he said with dawning understanding. "We do rather lack the... good press that they have been working so hard for as Senshi... "
He reached out and flicked at Ever's wild bangs. "...He doesn't understand is all Ever, he just doesn't know... he believes what he's been told to believe." His voice was quiet and measured but ... surprisingly soft edged.
"If we spent as much time making sure we wore white... prancing around like princesses in the twilight to play on old fairy tales rather than just trying to make a difference I think he'd hate them instead. We're not the ones who tortured... think he'd have attacked you if he knew they did -that-? If he knew that the only reason we do what we DO is to try and keep these...senshi from doing more damage than they already are?"
"Been gnawing at you for a while hasn't it..." He guessed.

"I don't know." Ever huffed out a breath, reaching up to grab Zac's hand and nudge it back off of his forehead. A little wriggle and shift and he managed to kick his shoes off, obviously not going anywhere just yet. The gentle tone of voice left him more than a little embarrassed, rolling his eyes and not quite succeeding in shrugging it off.
"It's Tony. I like Tony. And every time I start heading out there, my teeth set to grinding." The idea of spending a whole day at the library made his skin crawl, in fact. Ever shook his head, still clutching at Zac's hand. "I don't feel bad, it just pisses me off."

"So you..." He started to say something and stopped himself, blinking at the hand that was still holding his own, but he didn't pull it away, just -looked- at it as though he weren't quite sure what to do from there.
"You should still face it Ever, he may...be being shallow but YOU know... you know that he's being foolish, a man may be smart but not -WISE-, you can't... well you COULD but I wish you wouldn't..."
He moved his free hand to prod at Ever's ribs.
"Alright...what can I do to help."

The poke got a squirm, a little sound of protest, a wriggle, his fingers tightening around Zac's and the other shoe falling to the floor with a rather solid 'thud'. It was more the surprise of the thing than anything else, and he went still almost immediately after, relaxing back onto the bed.
"...it's okay. I feel better, really." The weird thing was that it was true. He shook his head, clearing his throat, with a quick look away before his eyes resettled onto Zac's. "Still don't know about going to the library, though. We'll see in a few more days."

"You should give him a call at least... say something came up...blame ME if you have to or tell the truth, you couldn't come in...." He gave a small laugh at the squirm and the small sound of protest but didn't do it again. "Ticklish...duly noted." He said with a smirk.
"Soo... What should I do to get my hand back?" He said with more amusement than he expected.

No reply to calling Tony, because -- well, Ever wasn't going to commit to that. The end. He might not even answer the phone if Tony called him, he hadn't really decided yet. Besides, the here and now was much more interesting than the potential future...
"Throw out that robe." It was tame. Zac was lucky. He quirked an eyebrow, smiling crookedly as he smoothed a hand across his forehead. "Seriously, I can't imagine why you need it."

"Well.. covering up seems like a good reason to need it... have you SEEN the showers? You're a curtain and some wooden slats away from people look like the missing LINK, their not high schoolers their 'pre-convicts'."
He sighed... "Besides... if I wanted a robe that -fit- I'd have to shop In Juniors, and I'm not quite ready to hazard wearing a 'bat man' robe in the hall ways and no one wants to see me walking around in just a towel."
He paused with a dry stare. "Anything else you'd like to comment on... though if you poke fun at the Panda...I may smother you with him."

Ever's eyes went immediately to the panda, but for the moment, he bit his tongue. He could always bring that up again later. He remembered the hoodie, too, and combined that made him grin helplessly up at Zac. Mixed messages and secret identities and Zac was so many things at the same time.
"I doubt the straight boys care, and I doubt the gay ones would mind you in a towel." Amusement and his wry tone of voice didn't cancel out the honesty behind that. "Don't get what your issue is. This place doesn't seem that bad..."

"Maybe I just don't trust people..." he shrugged. "I mean... I did spent most of my freshmen year here being stuffed into lockers, the janitors closet and one incident involving PUDDING." He seemed distracted at the thoughts for a moment before tilting his head.
"... Or is that a sarcastic vote to have me shirtless again for a good chuckle..." He challenged. "Or since you've taken my shirt for a pillow will the robe be a blanket?" He said and shrugged it off making a face before waving his arms out to the sides like he was showing off before they folded in to cover him again.
"There... robe gone... if you quip about the pants too though I might stuff them up your nose."
He shifted slightly on the bed and chewed at the inside of his lip watching Ever's face.

Ever reached out immediately to grab the robe and wrap it around himself like a blanket, fighting down a snicker at the size of the damned thing. It might have fit him. Kind of. Except that it would have billowed out around the slim, stick-like shape of his body, and still would have hit past the knee -- not so much a bathrobe as one meant for doing druid magic out in the woods.
He'd settled back before the last comment, and that killed his laughter and lit something else in his eyes. Something that made him glance up toward the door and start to say something before he hesitated. Something that made him fidgety, left him adjusting the robe around him.
"...you're just teasing me now, Zac." It was teasing and chiding and also strangely serious. "No fair toeing the line if you have no intent to cross it."

He turned crimson and drew in on himself sharply, folding over his own arms, uncertainty blossoming full in his face, more there too but so hard to read, like trying to translate a foreign novel without all the right words.
"I Don't mean to..." He said half stuttering, maybe at one time it had been a serious problem for him, small and nervous not yet compensating with confidence and anger.
"I'm still working out where lines are... and... loathe as I am to admit it I haven't the faintest god damned clue what the hell I'm doing... though... I think I know what you mean about those 'thoughts'."
He started to lean towards Ever and then stopped himself, uncertain again... call it curiosity... but...
It was quick and then done, a timid thing... no energy drained or people passing out, nor likely terribly satisfying...rather fumbled and hasty.
