For the love of Jack, no one noticed! Breathing deep, Calder looked up as everyone started to set packages and kits down, making him wonder just what was going on. It seemed Barth was in the dark too, or he had been napping when someone was giving him an explanation. That meant that some summary would be given, and finding himself curious, he tried to figure out what this group gathering was all about.

When Chris' started to sign, Calder narrowed his eyes. "Um....I didn't bring the book?" He asked, wondering if he got that part right. He got some words, but he didn't get it all. Something about a book. He was sure that was it. Jack. Christof was going to hate him for that, but there was a lot of words to memorize! He at least got some down. Now if Christof signed anything about leeches or big carrots, he would totally know what he was signing about.

"He wants to know if we've been reading it," Barth said. "...On and off. And err, warning?" Barth said, growing a shade more uneasy.

The movements were towards the worktable, not him.

Borrowing it for a project...the project?

"Ahh," he said, finally. "Tonight's the night?" Maladore was here to help with the more meaty bits, then. Good. It wasn't Barth's forte.

Christof sighed, fighting the urge to roll his eyes. At least, out of strange luck, Barth had been reading up. He supposed anything to make things simpler, the Sloth was eager to oblige. He nodded, pointing to the window before bringing his arms out with a "Hahooo!" noise he hoped sounded enough like thunder to make his point.

Under the bench were the things he and Barth had already started days ago, and he wrenched the large copper pipe (that had been a bit of a bother to locate, but hopefully no one would be turning the water on in that particular room any time soon. He intended on putting it back once they were done,) before turning to Malodore with an intent expression.

Hmm. It seemed the gestures were a form of communication? Curious. The plague doctor put its bag down on the workbench. "I will assemble it as rapidly as I can - show me. Where are your blueprints and metal components?"

The kelpie puffed his cheeks, feeling bad that he had been corrected and had been off the mark. Again, he didn't feel that smart he couldn't memorize an entire book on signs and that Barth seemed to have easily figured it out. Just then, the demon boil looked up, appearing to maybe be getting up, as he noticed what Christof and Malodore were here for.

Confused, he looked around. It seemed something was happening. Confused, he looked at Barth and, deciding to at least redeem himself, rose his hands and pressed his hands flat atop each other and then rose one up and let the other drop. Then he shrugged in confusion.

"The cap's in the kitchen," Barth said. "Connected to the rest of it. Err, no," he said to Calder, "experiment. ...Sorry, I'm probably going to have to recheck the wiring. If you'll excuse me. We can err, finish afterward. Or if they're still assembling the err, biological aspect."

He slowly rolled off the couch, and half- slumped into the floor, looking forlornly at the very far away kitchen before getting to his feet again.

Eager to help, as well as show off his good work to the Plague Doctor, Christof hurried to beat Barth there. He stopped at the fridge, peaking inside to make sure the Sloth hadn't removed any of the fermenting Jollymeals inside, positively beaming as he saw them blink and cower at the sight of him before closing the door to check the rest of the wiring.

It should work, in theory. It all made sense in his head at least, and with Barth's help they had somehow knocked something out that should do what his blueprints theorized. He gathered the cap up, careful with the dragging wires, as well as the roll of blueprints. He reverently placed the metal thing down, moving to the part he had been working on to start fitting them together, before offering Malodore the paper.

Calder... would just have to watch he supposed. They could have their... ghoul time... later. The storm was roaring and it was time.

Malodore drew the carefully-packed lepus 'patchwork' out of its bag; thankfully, the ice packs had held nicely and the flesh was still quite cold to the touch. The assembly was meticulous, lines of tiny stitches holding limb to body, flesh to flesh. It was rather proud of it, honestly.

"Hmm. Let's see... I'll need to assemble the brain, the organs, the cap..." Malodore studied the blueprints and nodded, drawing out its smallest strong needles and the thinnest suture thread. "Let's start from the bottom and work our way up. Give me the organs that need installing and I'll get them in," it ordered.

Even MORE confused, Calder sat on the couch, turning over once Barth rolled off to sit up on his knees and look over the back of the couch as the others moved around, setting and opening up boxes, moving pipes and other metal parts, and rushing about, calling out names of things he had no idea what they were and all seeming to be on the same wavelength. Ears dropping, he very well knew he was the odd man out, and slowly set his chin on the back of the couch, watching as Christof and Malodore cleared a table, unrolled a large sheet, and started to look over some figures. He wondered if he should leave, but the idea of going to his dorm to do nothing bothered him and blast it! He wanted to see what they were all doing too. He didn't like being left out. It made him feel........like before.

Swallowing hard, he frowned. It had been nice when it was just a simple night, and now he would never get around to oiling Barth's horns. Now he was left feeling...stupid.

When a dead lepus was brought out, Calder looked up, again, confused, and wondering if he could ask. Just when he opened his mouth to ask about what they were doing with the dead lepus, he closed it and set his chin back on the couch, watching. He'd....probably get in the way.

Barth held out a claw. "Calder? Towel, please."

Water and electricity were not the best of combinations, and Barth was not sure exactly how much electricity was going to be running through the apparatus, although it should be able to sustain a fair amount ... he might have been a little more generous with the resistors, and instituted a few safety measures to make sure they didn't take out the campus generators...but how likely was it that something like that would happen? Or that it would be traced back to him, any way.

He'd need to recheck the wiring in any case.

Glancing over his shoulder to Calder, the Igor gave a pointed look, jugging his chin in the Sloth's direction. Don't just sit there like a piece of furniture, Kelpie! His hands were full, he needed the extra help.

Obediently, he glanced back to Malodore before hauling up the cooler, flipping it open to start carefully and reverently placing the parts on clean squares of paper towel along the bench.

Another crackle and boom of lightening outside the window, and the sound of rain picking up caught his attention. Hell's bells, they still needed to mount the rod. He drew in a sharp breath, glancing to Malodore to make sure it had all that it needed to continue without him before hefting up a large spool of wire and the pipe, humming loudly to try to get Barth's attention before motioning towards it and himself and then pointed towards the ceiling.

Malodore started assembling as each part was presented; the organs went in, each stitched in place with swift, expert movements. Time was of the essence, as was preservation. Fortunately, its metallic claws could not warm the lepus-flesh.

The last to go in - and the hardest - was the spinal cord and brain. This was fiddly work. Some of the neural connections would be born and buoyed on FEAR itself (or so the book Malodore had checked out from the library had said), but the central nervous system still had to be seated well and major connections made.

The plague doctor hunched over it, claws working as the needle flashed in the light.

Without hesitation, Calder turned and retrieved the towel, handing it over to Barth as the boil took it and started to dry his hair. Spa time was over and now it seemed some great matter of business was at hand. While the kelpie was only plopped on the couch to avoid being in anyone's way, he caught the Igor's eye and how he jerked his chin at Barth's direction and gave a grunt that said he better get a move on and help or else leave. Then again, that's what Calder took it as. Grunts were poor forms of communications, especially to over-sensitive kelpies.

Still, it was an order, and for someone feeling worthless and out of the group, he was more than happy to help. "Oh...I can help?" He asked, a strange thing when you considering he was asking a Igor for permission. Slipping off the couch, Calder followed after the demon - which wasn't hard considering Barth didn't move that fast.

"Um..." He looked about before easing up next to Barth. "...is there anything I can do....or....should I go.....will I get in the way....of ...whatever you are doing ..." His voice was small, unsure, and strange on a boil who usually was so perky, confident, and loud.

Barth looked at the window, then up. "...Go ahead," he said to Christof.

He shook his hair with the towel absently, laying down to reach around to the back of the refrigerator and address Calder.

"I'll need some pliers, and some rubber hosing, if you can find it. Just going to tighten a few things up, and make sure nothing's crossed."

While Malodore expertly worked it's magic fingers, the hunchback gave plucked his pen from his pocket to scribble a quick note on the table top, If you need anything, Ask Mr. Bartholomew. He gently patted it's shoulder, careful not to disrupt it before hefting his equipment and hurrying to the door.

They had things under control here, it seemed. His heart was fluttering, head spinning with excitement. The last time he had scaled the Demon Dorm roof, he had used his ladder and hours of pain staking, slow and nerve wracking climbing. This time, with his arms full of wire and copper, it seemed the stairs were his best option. He crept silently, hurrying upwards until the main steps let out and the gnome-access only door could be seen. Well... hopefully there were no gnomes around. If not... he was armed with a large pipe and he really didn't want them asking where he had gotten it.

Thankfully, it only took a bit of scratching at the lock before he was able to crawl inside. A good protection against creeping students like himself, he supposed, was the small, gnome-sized stairwell that lay beyond. Using the wire coil, he strapped the pipe to his back to drop down and crawl. But at least it wasn't wet and it lead upwards...
