"I watched a lieutenant die." With how blunt the statement was given it may have given the illusion that he wasn't bothered by it. But there was a slight tremor in his hands as he held his own menu, and that tremor certainly wasn't from the boy's usual hyperactivity.
"One of the ones that was captured...I got to her cell, I was so close to saving her you know? And then her guard simply murdered her, right in front of my eyes...like she was just waiting for me to come through that door to do it..."
Demy's gaze grew distant, though it was pointed at the menu it looked more like he was looking through it, back through his memories to that night.
"Glass tornado...have you ever thought of such a thing? That's uh..how I got this..." He slowly gestured to his neck before continuing on. "That's just the start of the crazy s**t that happened in that warehouse. At some point I swear I thought I was a Pokemon. A crab at another part. Zink fell through the floor to do...I don't even know, fight I guess? There was some cracked out mirror maze which was actually kind of cool... I hear the others saw an illusion of me getting my throat sliced and dying but I got separated from the rest of them so I didn't see it... That group is just dangerous man, who would think of all this insane s**t? On top of torturing our family? But they think we're the monsters."

"Y'know... Corrupted star seed and dark energy aside? I've never considered torturing anyone; not even for their energy." Why would they have to torture them at all when they could just drain it away slowly? It was like falling asleep... Nice and peaceful. Nothing to it, right?
How lucky he was to have missed the star seed stealing days of old...
"It's amusing, though, that they're so convinced that we're the vile ones. Was it just that Blood Moon... Court? Circus? Whatever that did that? Or were there others involved?" His brow furrowed, voice going softer as their waiter approached, asking if they were ready to order. "I am if you are, man."

"We're not corrupted. They're the corrupted ones, not us. We're just a family trying to protect our home and those we care about. And yes...it was the Blood Moon Court. They're dangerous, and if you ever run into any of them I want you to get the hell away from them and call backup. Call me, call anyone, just don't fight them alone okay?"
Demy fidgeted more, and was rather thankful that their waiter chose just that moment to come. It gave him a few moments to collect his thoughts...besides, he really wanted those fries.
"I'm ready. Burger man, everything on it? And get us the largest plate of the cheesiest and baconiest fries you can, thanks."
The blonde flashed the briefest hint of his usual smile before turning his gaze to the less than interesting wall to let Rik place his own order.

"Bacon cheeseburger for me. Lettuce, tomato... Some of those grilled mushrooms, yeah? And a small order of onion rings to go along with that mountain of fries?" His brow quirked as he handed his menu over to the water, flashing him a giant grin before getting a bit somber as his gaze drifted back to the blonde.
"Gotcha, Dem. There's a reason why we carry around those crazy little crystal things, ne? I mean... There's not much of a damn you can do with a deck of cards beyond give someone a killer paper cut and maybe disorient them a bit if you've got a good enough chance to aim for the face." His smirk was there, solidly in place, eyes dark for the moment.

"See, aiming for the face always works, Zac tries to tell me it doesn't but pfff, he's silly. Sometimes I think I was pretty lucky with my starting weapon...I totally had a Guitar Hero controller, and it was god damn awesome. Least I had better chances at actually hurting an opponent."
"Tanz turned into a giant phoenix youma."
Well there was a conversation changer, now wasn't there?"
"I have proof, see!" And here he produced a black feather from a pocket, holding it out for Rik to see.

"********>?" Forget cards or Guitar Hero controllers. Rikard got caught up in the 'giant phoenix youma' bit, leaning in so that he could glance at the feather. Part of him wanted to think that Dem was just nuts, well, nuttier than he already knew the blonde to be... But the other part couldn't deny that right there in front of him was a feather unlike any that he'd ever seen before.
"... Y'know, for all that I'm glad that I missed all of that crazy s**t you were talking about? It's kind of a bummer to have missed that." He smirked. "Must have been some pretty epic s**t, Dem. And you snagged a feather?"

"I totally snagged a ride dude. Got caught up in some weird attack involving a coffin...and let's just say it was definitely on fire and definitely not cool. Fluo yanked me out of it, but I think the phoenix still thought we were in danger? So it came by and totally gave us this ride! It was AWESOME. It gave me the feather, and then it made my guitar into a flaming guitar. The phoenix was pretty badass dude."
For all that the talk of the phoenix excited him (he was rambling and gesturing wildly just like good old Demy), he quickly fell off into quiet mode at the next part.
"It..died. And...I swear Tanz did too dude. But something brought her back and now she's a General Queen and I dunno man...it's pretty crazy, it all really is. But for all that the entire thing really sort of unnerved me...I think we're going to be okay. Tanz isn't going to let us get hurt anymore, I can just feel it ya know?"
Demy admired the feather for a moment longer before tucking it back safely into a pocket and turning to his drink for a distraction.

"Y'know... If I didn't know better I'd think this was all some sort of a game. Just... This great big insane RPG that everyone's been caught up in. Every now and then I think that... Then I realize that it's real. It's not a bunch of nerdy weirdos on the internet; it's people I've known for years, and some that I'm just starting to know... And it's real."
His brow furrowed as he reached for his drink, eying some of the bubbles as they made their way to the surface, pushing his straw up if only so that he had to nudge it back down before he could take a sip.
"I need to get out more. Finals have been kicking my a** and... It's still kind of weird back at the dorms. With Luc gone." He worried his lower lip for a moment, trying not to think too hard on it. "It doesn't hurt as much as it did when he first left, but... It still feels kind of... Empty. Yet I don't want them to move anyone else in there. Bet that doesn't make any sense."

"....I wonder if that's what I did to Zac when I left. It totally does make sense though.... For all the good that it did, getting out of there since I was failing anyway and now I'm free to work...I dunno, sometimes I regret it. Hell sometimes I miss having homework because at least it was a normal thing, yeah? Sorry I'm not there any more man, I totally would have hung out with you."
Demy sat back, mostly to give himself room to poke at his own straw a bit.
"Someone could have made a fortune if they came up with this storyline for a game. Just sayin."

"Y'ever thought about coming back?" His brow lofted slightly, attention fully on the other young man for a moment. "I mean, yeah, it'd suck being behind a year, but I bet you could get caught up if you took summer classes and s**t. Hell, I'm not aces at everything," a lie, he totally ******** was, "but I could help tutor you? And there is an empty bed back in my dorm room."
He smirked, leaning back after taking another sip of his own soda. "... If it wouldn't -somehow- get my a** kicked, I'd try my hand at making a card game of this s**t. Can you imagine it? Someone being excited because they nabbed the Shiny Scheelite card?"

"Nah man...I'm working on getting a job, like a normal one! And Heather wants me to get into some classes at home, and I've got awesome ideas for our other work. I'm going to be pretty busy, being cooped up in Hillworth won't help much... Thank you though! Roommates were pretty awesome to have, I miss that."
Shiny Scheelite card? Now that caught his attention.
"DUDE that would be AWESOME. I'd want to collect them all, but ESPECIALLY the shiny Scheelite card!"

"I think... I just miss having someone around." His brow furrowed slightly as he poked at his straw in his coke again before leaning on his hand, fingers brushing back through his hair. This was, all in all, a side of himself that he didn't often show to others; the needy side of the young man who always tried to play himself off as being so self-sufficient.
And then it was gone, a grin replacing all traces of it as he glanced across the table. "It would have to be a shiny card, y'know. Just not enough pop in a plain card to give that guy enough credit, right?" He was smirking then, eyes gleaming with the mischief of some sort of hidden joke.

The blonde eyed him carefully over his own drink, taking note of a few small things. The resigned tone...the idle poking at his straw. Hrm...
"You know, if you ever need some company you can call me for that too. I'm sure I could find a way to sneak into Hillworth and drag you out...I've had practice sneaking around that place ya know? Even around our former General King, and lemme tell you he wasn't the easiest guy to sneak around. Just..I'm here dude, family shouldn't have to feel lonely."
Demy leaned back, grinning widely at the card talk. "I know right? That guy's pretty awesome with all the shiny and the glowing stuff. A plain card would almost be an insult."

"Dem... Why on earth would you be idiot enough to sneak back into Hillworth once you've managed to escape it?" His brow lofted as he gazed at the other for a good, long moment before sitting back as their fries were delivered, reaching over to grab one of the ones that looked like it was going to fall out of the basket. "Not on your life. But, if I'm ever lonely on the outside I'll definitely look you up... And same goes, got it? Not that I'm all big on the buddy, buddy thing, but..." He waved his hand and the fry around for a bit before popping it into his mouth.
"All this talk of cards, though... Does remind me a lot of that weird stuff that was going on last year. Do you remember those cards people were finding around town?"

"Aw cmon, it wouldn't be so bad sneaking back into it. It could even be a game! See how far I get before someone notices, dash out...try again later. I think it could be fun! But fineeee, if you insist Rik I'll just linger around outside waiting for hangout times. Unfortunately for you I am big on being buddy buddy...and sorry dude, you're totally stuck with me."
Demy took a moment to eat some damn -delicious- fries before setting his mind to the next question. The weird cards, huh?
"I do...I had one even. I was pretty distracted with school and things during that time, but I do remember it... Did you have a run in with any of the monsters or something? It sure was....-weird-."
