Yes, Fish is tastier, but bread is still tasty

The girl seemed to have learned her lesson though. When she held out her hand, the cat leaned in and snatched up a piece in her mouth, gobbling it down as if she was a vacuum cleaner. It didn't take too long for the tailless cat to clean off her "plate." To let her senshi know she appreciated her efforts, she gave her a few feline kisses of the scratchy variety.

Done with the offered pieces of bread, the cat sat herself back up. Being the smart cookie she was, she glanced about, as if to check to see if the waiter was coming.

********* wanted fish too if she could swing it.

Canine kisses were familiar to Lydia. Her dog was quite affectionate and had a tendency to go for the face, but would lick anywhere she could. Feline kisses were, she discovered, quite similar, only drier and scratchier. It was not an entirely pleasant experience- nor were Mariposa's kisses, usually- but it wasn't unpleasant either. Lydia winced a little initially, but was smiling in the end.

"You're very sweet," she told the cat, ripping up another piece of bread. "I wish I could take you home with me, but they don't allow cats at school. And Babbás would have a fit if I tried to take you home home." Her voice changed, imitating her father's deeper pitch and manner of speaking. "Lydia, meli, you know that you're sensitive to cats. And you never know what diseases they might have." She rolled her eyes and held out another piece of bread to her dining companion. "If Mana hadn't gotten Mariposa for me, I'd never have a pet. Or any company that wasn't Mana and Babbás."

That wasn't true, and Lydia knew it. But it felt good to vent her complaints to somebody who couldn't lecture her about her behavior.

Of course ********* was sweet! She was frequently stuffed full of things cats weren't supposed to eat that were delightfully sweet. The guardian had to be sweet by association. She let out a sweet cooing kitty noise to let the girl know she appreciated the compliment.

Only when offered some more bread did the cat lean in and politely take another piece. She chewed on her piece as the girl somewhat introduced herself along with mocking what she could only assume to be her father (all of these titles were quite confusing).

Lydia... is Sailor Irene...

The cat tucked the name away in a safe place in her brain. It also now made more sense why the girl seemed anxious to push the manx away earlier. Though she couldn't help but childishly complain in her mind I don't have diseases!

With her newest portion of bread gone, the cat gave the girl another kiss on the hand. However, mid-kiss, the cat sat up, ears up at attention. For a brief moment, she turned herself in a direction that was not facing Lydia.

There was a disturbance in the force. Well, rather, a youma in the vicinity.

The feline turned back to the girl. It would be such a shame for the girl to skip out on her dinner after all of that waiting.

She's one of your girls, *********. Maybe... let her have one more day... Missing out on good food really would be a shame...

The kitty's tummy gurgled a little, because she wanted to stay behind too. Alas, she had things to do. Not wanting to be rude in such a fancy place, the cat padded to the edge of the table and once more hopped into the girl's lap. In a caring manner, she rubbed her face up against the girl, much briefer than before.

I'll see you later, Lydia...

The more the cat sat there cutely, the more Lydia wanted to take her home. Even though it would involve itchy eyes and an argument with Babbás and would probably drive Mariposa nuts. Or would it? As far as Lydia knew, Mariposa had never met a cat. Maybe they would get along.

"But you probably wouldn't want to come home with me," she sighed. "I mean, you've probably escaped from the circus or something." That would explain the strange behavior, sort of. "You probably perform on stage in front of tons of people. Why would you want to be a housepet?"

She was rambling now. Lydia shook her head. "Oh, why am I whining? I'm just glad you're keeping me company, kitty. Thank you." It seemed that the phone and weird pen were already forgotten. Maybe Lydia was more lonely than she realized. Or just really really bored.

Popping another piece of bread in her mouth, she started to pick up another, but was startled by the cat's sudden leap back into her lap."Oh no, please don't-" Her nose twitched and her eyes itched, but this time the cat was quick. "Wait, come back!"

Too late. The cat was gone, having left behind red eyes and a couple of strange lost items. Lydia debated turning them in to the restaurant staff, but was diverted by the arrival of her meal at long last. Never had seafood biriyani looked so delicious.

It was sad that her dining companion was gone. But at least, Lydia smiled, there was more food for her. Things had a way of working out.
