"I can see why it would get lost along the way," she mused, her tail tip waving idly from side to side. She continued to stare at him for a little longer and then shook her head, no sooner had she ceased this than a small smile had slipped onto her lips. "The 'gang' bit doesn't really flow as well as it could do - that isn't to insult your mother but if folks don't like how a word sounds on their lips they're more likely to adjust it so that it does," she pointed out softly. Sloth like as she might have been, her observation skills were second to none and she often made legitimate remarks in relation to them. "That being said it's a pleasure to meet you, Hantan," she added.

"Though I must admit that while the Hyenas could be considered an interesting talking point there are probably less dangerous ways to strike up a conversation," she offered, a teasing tone applied to the remark. She didn't intend to cause insult or embarassment but she'd often found that making light of a problematic situation through humour tended to ease such things considerably. She'd a sneaking suspicion he hadn't provoked the hyenas, he'd just been unlucky but it was better to look at things more positively, no?

"Interesting to know that you are one of the more polite individuals in the world who still remembers his manners then," she added after a few moments and chuckled. "I lost those quite a while ago, sometimes you just have to go with what's easiest," she clarified. It was at this point that she rolled her shoulders and elected to listen to him speak about his wandering inclinations. "You must've seen a lot then - jungles, deserts... Probably have some pretty neat stories as well, huh?"

"I'll try to come up with something less dangerous next time then," he said and grinned. All in all he could have encountered much worse company by running up a random tree, and he wouldn't mind bumping into her again some time. "But suitably interesting off course."

Admittedly, it would be hard to top 'chased by rabid hyenas', even if he had quite a few interesting stories thanks to Fenja. And then there was that lion guarding a stone, and the oddly shaped cheetah-leopard. Yeah, he could probably come up with interesting topics if he had to. And if his life kept being this interesting he wouldn't run out of topics in a hurry.

"No deserts yet," he said, "But I'm going to look for a special jungle some time. A friend used to live there, but she doesn't want to go back since the pride that used to live there is gone. I'd like to see if it's as beautiful as she told me."

He wondered if he was telling Tia too much. The topic of her old pride always seemed to be a sensitive one when he talked to Fenja, and he felt a bit weird discussing it, even in vague terms. Never mind... He wasn't even sure where this beautiful jungle was located.

A jungle?

Tia's ears flickered and she lifted a brow in a much more inquisitive manner than she had previously. It was rare that she took interest in anything, but as a leopard who came from a jungle, her curiosity was piqued to a point. Consequently, her head tilted to the side to rest more comfortably on another set of branches and she held her silence for a few moments. She'd seen a few jungles when she had spontaneously decided to go for a wander, though she was fairly certain that her own didn't contain any prides and hadn't done for years. In fact, she would hazard a guess that there hadn't ever been any because her mother had lived there her whole life and never mentioned it.

"What sort of jungle?" she enquired, her lips pursing just a touch. "I mean, I live in a jungle myself but I know of a few others..." she shook her head, resting her paws on her belly. Admittedly, she didn't know any that had lost a lion pride for...whatever reason they had departed, but if she recognised a 'spot', she might be able to describe it. "Although most of them had colonies and prides in them," she confessed.

"That being said, maybe they moved in after your friend's pride left, it's always a possibility?"

"I suppose," Hantan said thougthfully and tried to remember what Fenja had said about her former home, "I mean, if it's a good spot it makes sense that others would settle there eventually."

He tried to think about the bits and pieces of information his lion friend had offered about her former pride. It wasn't much, he had to admit. He had gathered that it must have been located in or near a jungle. He sighed as he tried to remember anything useful. She rarely spoke directly about her old pride, or what had happened to it, but sometimes she slipped. And some of her stories, he just got a feeling she was telling him about her old pride, but pretending the story was about some pride she had heard of. It was just a feeling, and he might be wrong.

"I know that it was mostly a lion pride," she said, "But that other species were also welcome. She told me it was a very accepting place, and that they were keen on music and beautiful things. I think there were hybrids there too, but I'm not sure. And flowers. She really likes flowers and always wears them, and I think that's important somehow."

A jungle and flowers and songs. It was all very vague and he had no clue if he could find the place. Probably not without asking Fenja outright, and that might upset her.

"She doesn't like to talk about it," he confessed, "I think because something terrible happened."

Well she had encountered a pride very similar to that one in terms of their mentality, but they weren't as inclined towards song as they were dance. It was for this reason alone that she elected not to bring them up as she was fairly certain that this probably wasn't the one that his friend meant. Well, when one took into consideration how that pride were so vocal about their own existence and you would have to wonder why Fenja hadn't found it already if it had been the one she was after. Suffice to say that the leopardess could be a rather logical thinker when she actually spent longer than twenty seconds considering all the details.

"It sounds very beautiful," she offered after a few moments, a warm smile lining her lips as she observed Hantan. "She was certainly a very lucky creature to live in such a pretty place," she continued. It was at this point that she fell silent for a few moments and shook her head, while morbid curiosity had its place in the world, Hantan was right about not pursuing the subject. "It's a shame that she would prefer not to provide more details though, that might be the reason she can't find where it is..."

Another pause.

"Then again if something bad happened she might be deliberately avoiding it," she concluded, examining her paws briefly before she returned her gaze to Hantan. "Have you tried offering yourself up as a travelling companion? Two pairs of eyes is always better than one, no?"

Tia was giving her a lot to think about and he started to wonder about what Fenja would say if he offered to find her old pride land with her. Or perhaps he could offer to check up on it for her, if she didn't want to go. He needed to do a lot of thinking before he made his offer, however. He'd think about it, and then mention his idea (ok, Tia's idea) when they met next time. The lioness could probably be considered Hantan's closest friend. He wondered what his mother would have to say about that, and smiled at the thought.

"I should get going," he said, standing up and stretching carefully, "Thank you for the meal, but I don't think I should intrude on your living space any longer. And I promise not to bring my hyena 'friends' next time we meet..."

If he was lucky with his hunting in this area he might try to find Tia again and share his kill with her to return the favour. It seemed like the right thing to do.

"Ah, well don't let me hold you back any longer," Tia replied with a mild smile, one that he had probably grown accustomed to already. She wasn't the sort to distract an individual for too long, she was simply happy that someone had crossed her path. Based on where she was situated it wasn't often that anything other than preybeasts passed closeby and as such, she had to appreciate the company when she could - not that she didn't speak to the beasts in pursuit of gossip, but they were always a touch more wary.

"Goodluck with your friend, hopefully you can help her find her old home!" she added, her smile a touch more enthusiastic as she gave an emphatic nod towards Hantan. "Or if she can't find it, maybe she can just locate some answers - whichever applies," she mused as an afterthought, though a small part of her conceded that she much preferred the first outcome.

"Be safe on your journey home as well, by now the pups should have found something more entertaining to do with themselves so you should have a quiet walk, no?"

"I hope so too," Hantan said, "I hope I can help her in some way at least." Hopefully it would be helping to try to dig deeper in the lost pride of hers. But he wouldn't know unless he tried, no?

"Good hunting," he said to the other leopard, using his mother's preferred parting phrase. He had a lot to think about, and it was much easier to do that with food in his belly and without hyenas after him. He slipped down from the tree and set off in the opposite direction to the hyena tracks and scent marks. They were probably not interested in him anymore just like Tia said, but he wasn't taking any chances.
