Christa chuckled jovially. Of course someone Ridley's age wouldn't be interested in chess. But the teen adored the strategic aspect of it and imagined Ridley was not the kind of girl to grow up and learn to appreciate that sort of thing. Ridley was much too active and precocious for that. "I guess I was a boring kind of kid when I was younger. Probably still am, but I'm okay with that. Now that my brother's older, I'll sometimes play with him and he doesn't mind. We'd make forts in the backyard with chairs and old blankets. That was a lot of fun."

Was it to make younger siblings stronger? Oh, Christa doubted that, somehow. "While I can't speak for your brother, I tried to teach my younger brother about things I liked. I thought maybe we could both enjoy them, but he's like you - very outdoorsy. He doesn't like to be stuck in the house very often. I think I'm becoming the same way too, which is why I'm reading outside. The fresh air is good for you." With a wink and a nod, Christa smiled to Ridley during her revelation. "If they're too tall, then you have to wait for them to go to sleep. I once put a rubber snake in my brother's bedding too. He did not like that. But that was payback for putting red dye in my shampoo!"

Christa decided she didn't look very good at all as a redhead. With a frown, she shook her head, remembering how long it took to grow everything back out. Their mother was furious... when she was done laughing. That was an interesting year.

"If chess was like the chess in Harry Potter where the pieces killed each other like really, I think it could be more awesome." Ridley giggled as she pushed her hands under her thighs. Her legs began to kick again under the bench. Forts were awesome though, and the little girl had to totally agree with that at least.

Well, when your dog didn't totally trash the fort. Stupid Dodger.

"Outside is totally awesome, I like being outside and getting muddy and stuff." It felt all cramped inside and it got stuffy and well, she just didn't have the attention span for video games or reading or things like that. Though, she was really good with games on her phone.

"I once switched my brother's protein shake mix with cocoa mix, he wasn't too happy." Her face broke out in a very wide grin from the memory. Max had tried to get back at her for the prank but retaliation fell short due to their mother intervening before harm could be done. Ridley knew her brother wouldn't have done anything really horrible to her but she knew it would have been more imaginative than what she had done.

Once again, the duo was interrupted by a soft jingle and the vibration of Ridley's phone scooting across the bench between them. The little girl quickly caught the phone before it fell to the ground and glanced at the message written upon it. Conner was wonder where she was.

Christa shook her head. "No, the chess I play is pretty tame when it comes to death, but I bet they make games where the pieces kill each other. Actually, I have no doubt that they do." She made a face, wondering what the point of all that was. Wasn't chess good enough by itself? She mentally shrugged and chuckled at Ridley's described prank when her phone went off. Ah, maybe their conversation had gone on for too long? The teen smiled and opened one of her books.

"Is your brother looking for you? Sorry to keep you away for so long, Ridley. He might be getting worried." But for what it was worth, Ridley was nice to speak to. She was open and genuine and Christa honestly hoped Ridley never lost that quality to her. It was precious and needed to be preserved. She didn't know what it was about growing up that made people lose that part of themselves. "I won't be offended if you have to go and put lemons in your brother's drinks."

Ridley shrugged, "He is, but you were a lot more fun to talk to than he ever is." The little girl giggled, it was honestly a better afternoon when she shared it with someone else aside from those she was related to. But, Christa had a point really.

"I should probably go find him," even though it made more sense for him to come for her. It wasn't like she had moved, but who knows where he went to go find drinks and all. With a little push, she hopped herself right off the bench. The ball she had been with gave a little bounce before settling to the back of the bench as well before the orange haired girl scooped it up in her arms. "It was really nice meeting you, Christa!" Ridley beamed with an awkward goodbye wave, having to keep the ball steady in her grip.

She took a few steps backwards in retreat before turning fully to scamper away to find her older brother.
