Lily shook her head, no she did not think she had seen Christa brother in Hindsight, but she tended to go pretty late, she doubted many middle school students were around when she was there, but she guess it was possible.
"I don't think so," she said," but its possible. Bad singing, no offense to him, makes me run for the back rooms, so I may not have actually spotted him."
Lily nodded with a smile hearing Christa would go to college, and realizing why she had not seen the girl around to much before. They were probably the same age, Lily thought, but Lily was a year ahead.
"Yes, I have been accepted to many, but I have chosen to go to DCU, this coming fall. I am very excited, I am even moving out. I'm going to get an apartment instead of living on campus, though I have yet to find a roommate."
She wasn't bragging, but it probably sounded like it, but Lily wasn't aware. No she was smiling and very happy in the moment. "I bet since your a writer scholarship essays for writing scholarships will be a breeze. You should get started on the those as soon as possible."

Christa laughed when Lily tried not to offend her brother Zach. She brushed off the comment with a small smile. "No worries. Zach wouldn't be offended if you called his singing 'bad'. He calls it 'singing with style', but he knows he's bad. But I think you're right, you probably haven't seen him because he likes to vocally assault as many people as possible. Kids, you know? Especially boys. They like to be asses on purpose."
She walked a little further, but since she didn't know what direction Lily was going, she stopped very soon after. College was indeed important and between essays, Christa was working on her scholarship information. She nodded at Lily's advice. "A breeze to write, yeah, but being accepted is another thing entirely." Christa tapped her chin with a finger. "Every time school lets up, I send in another round of essays. Nothing major so far. $500 here, $250 there, but it all adds up. I'd like to attend DCU though, stay close to family. Why'd you choose to stay?"

Lily laughed looking rather amused at the statement, "my brother is not like that, but he had etiquette lessons. Maybe your brother should have some too, then he will be a little gentleman." Lily was grinning, she was obviously joking though she did think it was a good idea to have the lessons.
Lily nodded when Christa talked about being accepted and doing scholarship essays. She had not had that problem, for despite her lack of extracurriculars she had been a volunteeraholic and she had excellent grades. She had applied for scholarships because it was not needed, but she was pretty certain she would be getting one or two good ones anyway. She knew she had been slipped into a few, she did not really mind.
When asked why she wanted to stay, she told the truth, though not the whole truth. "I wanted to stay close to family and friends, but also Destiny City University is an excellent school and I have wanted to attend for a while. They even have a wonderful study abroad program. I think I would like to study in another country for a time."
"Not to mention all the letter I would get to write. I'd be away writing letters back home across the ocean, oh it make me so much more excited."

Did DCU have that good of a reputation? Christa honestly didn't know for sure. She was pretty consumed in trying to get her own writing career off the ground that she didn't pay too much mind to college. She should probably start doing that now, and at Lily's recommendation, DCU wasn't looking so bad. It would be considerably less expensive that studying somewhere else since she'd have residency, and maybe her brother could come live with her. Or her cousin.
But etiquette lessons for Zach? Boy, she wished. Christa gave a laugh at the thought of her brother being a little gentlemen. "You must've been lucky then to have your brother go to lessons. Zach's not a terror, so I guess I should consider myself happy about that. He's just a boy, you know?"
Walking further in the direction of the house, Christa kept herself near Lily. She just liked to walk and talk at the same time. Made her feel productive. "Maybe I'll go to DCU when I graduate too. Maybe their writing program is really good. Staying in the city to be near family would be nice too..." she said wistfully.

Lily nodded with a smile at the comment about Christa's little brother. It was true boys could be a pain, but that did not mean they were terrors. "Yes, I definitely know. Though not from my own brother though, he is a lot older than I am."
Lily had to say that even from just meeting this girl, she liked her a ton. She was hoping that maybe after today they would be friends, she really needed another good friends and Christa seemed to fit the bill.
"I bet they have a great program. I never wanted to be a writer, so I'm not certain, but it doesn't seem far fetched. Many school have good literary programs. I've no doubt DCU is among them." Lily started fishing through he purse looking for her phone and pulling it out, "maybe I can help you," she suggested.

"Ah, so you're the younger sibling, huh?" Christa imagined Lily as being the older sibling with the way she acted and dressed. Finding out that she was the younger sibling of a supposed pair, Christa found herself wondering about Lily's older brother. What did he do for a living? Was he in college too, or did he graduate already?
When Lily pulled out her phone, Christa tilted her head. "I'd love help but... are you going to call someone?" she asked. Or maybe it was one of those smart phones that let you surf the internet while you were out and about. Christa suddenly wanted one. Maybe Lily could call her brother and find out what he thought, if he even went to Destiny City University? Jeez, what was she thinking? Christa found herself inventing all sorts of details about someone she didn't even know.
How embarrassing.

"Yes, I am the youngest actually, of three. I have an older brother and older sister, 25 and 22 respectively. My parents did think they could have another child and then surprise!" Lily laughed thinking on the story of how shocked her mom was to hear she would have a third child.
Lily gave a giggle at Christa's question and shook her head, "no that would be rather rude, would it not? No, I was going to ask for your number, especially if you would love the help. If that okay," she said with a hopeful grin. She was always trading number despite not really being a phone talker, but she did have an the iPhone which did more than just phone calls. Lily had a ton of music on it.
"So how about it," she said with a grin knowing she would have to go soon. They had been walking and Lily really needed to be going the other way back to the store toward her car, but she most certainly hadn't minded the walk and meeting Christa, so it wasn't a problem. She did have a few errands to run and a letter to write though.

Christa nodded. It all made sense now. Lily was the youngest and unexpected child of her parents, but she was very polite and knowledgeable. Christa liked that in a person. She gave Lily her phone number, trading it for Lily's into her own phone. Shifting her bag onto the other arm, she smiled. "Well then, if you have any information or tips about DCU, please let me know. I'd really appreciate it."
Seeing as Lily was looking at her watch, the two of them should probably part ways. Giving Lily a wave, Christa thanked her for her time. "It was very nice meeting you by the way. Feel free to call any time. My dad thinks I could use a few more friends anyway."
Giving Lily a nod, Christa walked off in the other direction, waving at the girl from over her shoulder. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad going to DCU...
