Ecclesia listened to the stallion as they walked. She felt small compared to him, weak, and more than a little naive. While this wasn't exactly the case, she knew that there was much in this world she didn't know and couldn't possibly understand. Her mother had been rather over protective with her only daughter, and had done all in her power, intentionally or not, to keep her guarded and safe.
While Ecclesia appreciated such a thing, she also knew that her mother wasn't so easily trusting. She never approved much of company, and lately with the absence of Tobias and Atreus, she had been much more insecure. Ecclesia loved her mother Cassiel greatly, but sometimes . . . sometimes she couldn't help but yearn for a different sort of life. She didn't want grand adventures, but to get away on a trip, to see the world, to be somewhere else would be a great change for the shy and quiet mare.
To say Ecclesia was surprised when Kale proposed a guided visit to the ocean was an understatement. Her ears pricked and she couldn't help but give a look of surprise, her ebony eyes widening ever so slightly. Surely he couldn't really mean such a thing. . . could he? They were but strangers, he knew little over her and she less of him! Given, he was a knight and thus far had been nothing but kind; it still was a little soon to propose such an adventure, wasn't it? He had said someday. . . . maybe he was just being polite?
Giving a small shake of her head, the petite mare gave a non-chalant flick of her tail. "I . . . I would like such a thing, if someday may ever dawn. I know you must be busy with your training, and of course, I . . . I am unsure if my mother would approve of such an outing. Still," she gave a wistful sigh and considered what it might be like. To see water that was endless, to be somewhere far from the flatlands and woods that made up her current abode. "It's a pleasant dream, if only just that. I wouldn't want to be an interruption, though I do appreciate your kind words of fancy."
There was sincerity in her words as she offered the rainbow coated stallion a gentle smile. She couldn't truly accept his offer, could hardly believe he might mean to do such a thing, but it was sweet of him to suggest.
Deciding to change the subject, she recalled his interest in learning about the land. Glancing around, the mare wondered where she might even begin. "If you're interested in the land, I can tell you what I know. It's made up of primarily flat plans, with many open meadows and tall grasses to the east. The shorter grasses can be found just north of us, near the hills. There's a small river that runs through the heart of the land, with a few pond spotted here and there. The only time water gets scarce is when the winter snow freezes over almost everything, and you either have to migrate further south for pleasanter weather, or learn the art of breaking through the ice." She herself had mastered such a thing, but that was because her family didn't much travel. Ever.
"The falls are mild and the trees turn gorgeous shades of color. But the winters can be fierce. Really, it's a fairly quiet existence. I . . . I saw a kalona fly overhead once, but it never landed and as far as I know didn't bother any of us. Occasionally my cousins visit, and some of them have mixed blood. They may look fierce and possess kalona-like features, but they are very good. Trouble doesn't often find itself here, which I can and am grateful for."

He remain quiet as she took her time replying to him. He could see a few emotions flicker across her face and eyes but did not rush her into anything. From his short time with her he knew Ecclesia would answer him when she had the right words. Some time, actually quite often, it was best to think on ones reply before blurting out the first thing that came to mind. Not thinking before speaking could get an individual in trouble if around the wrong type of Soquili. When she finally did speak Kale smiled down at her. "Though my schedule is busy I do make time for other things." He could tell she was a bit nervous about the prospect of the trip even if it was her dream to see the ocean, even though he had seen a glimmer in her eyes at mentioning it. One day, hopefully, she would get to see the ocean and he would try to be there for her on that day, for that was what he had offered - a safe escort to her destination. "One day you will see the ocean, I am sure of it." Even if that day wasn't for months or even years, he was certain that she would one day get to live her dream.
"Dreams are a funny thing." He continued on after a short pause. "You spent your time thinking, hoping that they will one day come true and then when you finally get to experience those things you somehow wish that it could be a dream once more." There was something about experiencing the wonder and excitement of your dream that made you crave that longing that was experienced during the wait. That sense of want filled a Soquili with hope. He had longed to be a Knight all his life and now that that particular dream was coming true he wished for that longing again. Perhaps that old dream could be one day replaced with a new dream, one that would require more waiting and hope and excitement until it finally came true as well.
Giving his head a shake he looked to Ecclesia once more. "You would not be an interruption." He did not want her to think that this conversation or any other time int he future they saw each other would be an interruption on his life and training. Training was important to him yes, but even Ironforge knew of the importance of normal activities, of interacting with others and learning things outside of his Knightly duties. As she changed the subject Kale did not argue, he had placed his offer before her, she had neither accepted nor rejected it and had been obviously appreciative of it. Now he listened closely as she described the lay of the land.
What she described sounded quite typical for some of the areas that were near to here that he had visited. He nodded to her words. "Overall it sounds like a good place to live. Winter is fairly harsh no matter where one calls home. Most herds either learned to adapt to the winter weather or moved to more suitable areas until the snow and cold had passed. The mention of cousins with Kalona traits made him nod. Ironforge had horns similar to what was often found on Kalona yet his mentor possessed none of the evil traits associated with the breed. "Not all half-breeds show the negative traits of their breeds and that is a fortunate thing."
With a quick glance skyward Kale realized just how long they had been talking and now that he looked around they had walked quite a distance from their original meeting spot. "Perhaps we should start to head back." He suggested, though he would like to continue speaking with Ecclesia he also wanted to see she got safely back to her home before it got dark. To make sure she knew he wasn't shoving her off he added. "I have enjoyed our talk greatly. Night will be upon the land soon and it would be best to have you home before that happens, even in a safe place such as this."

The mare considered the words of the other stallion, even as they picked their way slowly through the underbrush. She was a quiet mare, and considered the words he spoke carefully, even if she gave little reply. Kale was an intelligent individual, and very brave for being a knight. She wondered where his life would take him, what glory he might someday see, what evils he might vanquish, and what good he would spread around the Kawani. One could think of such things for hours. . . especially in her mundane and quiet life.
"Hopefully," she finally added with a small smile, "one dream is but the building block of others. For while that hope and longing of achievement might be long in coming, by the time a dream is conquered, it very may well have produced other hopes and dreams. It's loss, with luck, may be minimally felt." The world was an endless array of possibility, after all. To have just one dream seemed . . .sad . . in a way, no matter how lofty it might appear.
Ah, but the thought of dreams was really neither here nor there. Both of them walked a path of hope, and with luck, their lives would be open to new opportunities every step of the way. As Kale mentioned returning, she too gave a glance up at the sun and saw just how far it had shifted. Oh dear. Cassiel would be all sorts of concerned and fear abandonment if she was gone for too long. They had their routine, comfortable, even if it felt stagnant to the purple coated mare.
But that was to be considered at a later time. . . That was her life at this present moment and she could either accept it or change it. Glancing over at Kale, the petite mare gave a little nod. "I suppose it is getting late. Come then, my good sir. Let us return, so you might find a place to settle, and I can ease the anxieties of my poor mother. She will be glad to know of the good fortune of meeting a knight." She added with a nod. At least it was a good story to tell, and the rainbow coated stallion had broken up the monotony of the day. Over all, today was good . . . Good conversation and company were hard to come by in these quiet lands and Ecclesia was grateful for the interruption.
She-Ra of Etheria Sorry for the super late tag! I think we should call this a wrap, maybe? I need to dust Ecclesia off, and get her un-dull and un-boring, haha. But I'd love it if they could meet again. Maybe not under such mundane circumstance.

As they headed back towards where they had first met and thus where Ecclesia lived he looked over at her. She may live a relatively sheltered life with her mother and yet the knowledge she showed in the conversation had told Kale there was so much more to her than just a simple mare who looked after her mother. Her analogy of dreams was spot on and he couldn't help but admire her for that and other things. "You have a way with words Ecclesia, something not everyone possesses. And when you speak of things, like dreams, your eyes burn with a hidden passion." He suddenly felt a bit of embarrassment and looked away for a moment as they walked along the path. Ecclesia had opened up a new world to him, he had seen a world filled with knights, those who he trained with from time to time, and then there were the quieter Soquili in life, the ones who you often passed by without really noticing them. He was glad he had not simply walked past the mare when he had seen her at the stream earlier, for he would have missed out on her conversation and company for this walk.
It didn't take them long to reach the spot where they had first met and if Kale was perfectly honest with himself he was sad that this leg of the walk had happened so quickly. "Well, here we are." He said coming to a stop and looking over at Ecclesia. "Safe and sound. I have greatly enjoyed our time together Ecclesia. I should be in the area for a few more days before needing to return to my mentor to continue with my training. I hope you would be willing to meet with me again before I leave so we can talk some more." He paused and glanced towards the setting sun, he didn't want to hold her up too much longer so she could return to her mother and so he could find a place to sleep tonight. "Perhaps if you are not too busy tomorrow you could meet me here?" He asked, if she had things to do he would completely understand, but he did truly want to see her one more time before he had to leave.
