Tony seemed very happy with this decision, thinking he was on the right track at last. Flowers were lovely, and he was sure the bouquet was in line with what he had learned about Suri's tastes so far. Or he was just being an optimist, but either way, he was wearing a dopey smile on his face once more.
He took the rose and looked at it in wonder, finding the yellow a beautiful color for a rose. He had little experience with flowers, save passing them on the street, as he spent most of his adult life in an apartment, where anything that was green failed to survive.
Maybe he'd plant some roses at his new place...
He managed to pick out a vase he liked, and got the flower arrangement that he thought was the prettiest. He smiled triumphantly, though he had little to do with it, now falling hook line and sinker for the sale efforts despite his earlier reservations, if only because now he was sure he was leaving with something she would like.
"You've been a great help! I think these are perfect. And the flowers are so healthy, it's great. Thank you for not giving up on me!" He laughed, taking pleasure in a simple moment, free of all things library related, all things stress related, all things terrible son related and certainly all things powered being and monster related.

Darien returned this look of triumph glee with a little chuckle of his own, smiling sweetly. I've already given up on you. The man was a dork and his girl friend probably would dump him in a week. If she did manage to stick around, she probably was the type that you were happy was taken off the market. He could only hope that she didn't throw the flowers back in his face if he said or did anything stupid. Maybe she'd throw a stiletto at him instead.
Smiling at that thought, Darien shut the glass doors to the flower displays securely, making sure the flowers were snug inside and protected from moronic customers, and moved to the register, carrying the arrangement that Tony had picked out.
There was, however, a genuine pleasure he had in seeing a bouquet sold. It would hopefully make whoever it was given happy. Nope. It would. There were few people in the world that turned their nose to a flower that only did so because of allergies. Wanted, desired, noticed, appreciated, or just expressing an emotion that needed no words and let the receiver fill in the blanks to whatever they most wanted at the moment. Flowers had their own magic.
Setting the arrangement into a nice box that would cushion them and keep them secure in place instead of wilting in the passengers seat home, he tied it up in a ribbon and then handed him a little card. "You can write anything in them, but the flowers do speak for themselves." Probably better than Tony could. Darien than rang him up.

Tony nodded his head, taking the card, then paying for the flowers. He took the box carefully, not wanting to jostle it even if it did look rather safe, then nodded his head and thanked the clerk again.
He left the store soon after that, humming to himself. He was very pleased and his mind was on Suri, not the encounter with the employee. He forgot the retail assistant as soon as he left the store, not too perturbed by the encounter, considering he couldn't read minds and had no reason to think the man was a jerk and silently mocking him, beyond his boorish behavior concerning women.
As far as Tony knew, it was a successful trip.
