Dru ran after, putting a burst of speed to catch her even as she shouted that they couldn't. "Mura! Tree!" She shouted, but it was already too late; Mura hit the tree. Hard. What little energy Dru had left, she put into running to her sister's side. Dru didn't even notice who got to Mura first. It didn't matter.
"Isn't Mom out hunting?" Dru asked nudging Mura's paws, her paws were ticklish, but that didn't even get through to her. She was breathing, but she was moving beyond that. "Do you know where Keene is, Tachio?"

Where was the sun? Why was it suddenly night? Why couldn’t she move? Was someone calling her name? Why were they so far away? Was someone touching her?
Many things suddenly filled the little white cub's mind as she slowly began to realize what had happened. She tried to move one paw but only succeeded in making a weak twitch and then moaned quietly as she made a second attempt that was barely noticeable. Lost in the darkness and slowly regaining control of herself again as the feeling of pain increased, Mura’s frustration was high. And yet she couldn’t seem to do anything about it so she let her body relax and tried to get her shallow breathing under control.

Tachio blinked at the tiny moment, then wailed, "She's DEEEAAADDD!!!" and collapsed onto her side dramatically, sobbing with all her little heart and soul. Of course the fact that her sister had moved making her think that made no sense at all, but this was Tachio. She very rarely made sense to begin with.

Dru pushed Tachio aside, a little roughly, but only because she was getting all dramatic and was going to roll all over Mura soon. Mura didn't need that now. "No, she not, Tachi! Stop rolling all over the ground."
Standing over Mura, Dru nudged Mura's face with her wet nose, hoping it would shock her awake. "Mura, wakey wakey." Another nudge. "Come one, don't make me pounce you," Dru threatened. When that didn't work, Dru sat back on her haunches and tried to think of what else made Mura wake up from her naps.
Then a thought popped into her head. She'd seen Mom do it to Auntie Keene the one time when she fainted, so it had to work if Mom did it. Dru licked Mura's face, neck, the top of her head, her ears just as Mom had done to Keene.

"She's not dead?" Tachio asked, sitting up and looking over. She watched all the licking curiously. "Does she taste good?" she asked her sister, completely distracted from the death issue since apparently it had been cleared up. Somehow.

Mura noticed how she was slowly regaining control of her body but she kept her eyes closed as the pain increased and she became aware of another feeling: embarrassment. She’d ran into something like an idiot, didn't she? Her only consolation was that Tachio was acting like an even bigger idiot but she needed to come up with a quick plan that didn’t involve massive amounts of teasing for the rest of her life.
“Ew, ewe eeeeew! That’s gross!” the cub jumped up the minute she believed it was okay to move again. She twirled around looking for Tachio and gave her a mischievous grin, which was somewhat eerie given the blood still trickling down her chin. “GOT YOU!!”
And then the white girl almost lost control of herself, her head felt light and her vision blurred and darkened but Mura stubbornly kept her eyes on the her sisters as she leaned back to sit. Hopefully it wasn’t too obvious that she was still having trouble moving.

Dru smiled, both at Tachio's question and at Mura's statement. "She doesn't taste as bad as a bitey-bug, but not as good as a zebra." She rolled the taste of her sister in her mouth and nodded. "You should try, Tachi."
"You make a very bad Zebra, Mura." Dru said, raising one eyebrow at her injured sister. Obviously, they were going to be running and pouncing each other for a while yet, so she make herself comfortable in the shadows of the hit-tree. She rested her head on her front paws and stared at her sisters.

"Okay!" Tachio said, heading for her sister to take a lick. "Her eyes look funny," she said as she got close enough to see. "Are you not feeling good? You hit hard! I heard it all the way from over there," she added, cocking her head and sitting down. "Should we tell Mommy?"

“No, don’t! No slobber. Only mom knows how to do it.” Mura said quickly leaning away from her sister, suddenly realizing her mouth tasted like blood.
“And my eyes don’t look funny!” she said indignantly as her vision slowly improved. The young girl didn’t want to hear that from someone who had eyes of different colors! But at least Tachio didn’t seem to be in the mood for teasing which was a relief. “I wasn’t being the Zebra…” she’d just ended up running around being chased by her sisters… okay, maybe somehow she’d become the Zebra. But she could do much better than that if she was serious!
Raising one white paw to scrub her muzzle she watched as it became tainted with blood. Mura didn’t want to tell mom what had happened but the blood made her a little nervous. “It’s not stopping… the blood. I think I bit my tongue.”

Dru licked her paw, watching her sisters from the corner of her eye. "You were most definitely being the Zebra. An arrogant zebra that would have run into a tree and been dinner. But we're going to have to tell Mom something. You got a nasty bump for a crown, Mura." She looked at Tachio, "What do you think, Tachi?"
As for the blood, Dru didn't know what to say to that. Mura was still bleeding from her head wound and know she said she bit her tongue. Dru didn't know if there was anything they could do for that. Maybe water? "Lets go to the watering hole and wash your cuts. You can drink the water and maybe that will help your tongue." Dru stood, gave a little strech and started to nudge her sisters in the direction of the watering hole. There didn't seem to be anyone else there at the moment. Not even the prey.

"Water!" Tachio agreed. "I'll walk with you!" she said, dramatically (as if she could do it any other way) moving to her sister's side so their shoulders were side by side. "If you fall I will catch you!" she proclaimed. "And will soften your heavy fall to the ground!"
She was now the hero in her own mind.

Dru moved to Mura's other side to prop her up if Tachio was too overzealous with her role and accidentally pushed her over. It wouldn't help Tachio's heroic efforts if Mura fell the wrong way. With Tachio in the lead, as much as any of them could be in the lead with how they were supporting Mura, Dru followed looking for anything that would hinder their way to the watering hole, or worse any humiliation that they was best avoided.

Mura threw an annoyed glance in Dru’s direction but couldn’t in good conscience claim to have been a particularly good target. She raised one paw to feel the bump and winced. Oh, this was going to hurt tomorrow! She didn’t want to tell mom but how could she possibly hide it?
She’d barely had time to think before water was mentioned (cold water did sound like a good idea) and pretty soon she was being escorted to the waterhole, one sister on each side, trying to make sure she wouldn’t fall. Being treated almost like an invalid was somewhat annoying at first but pretty soon she was feeling better, less embarrassed and her sisters’ concerned gestures both moved and amused her – not that she would admit it. Her mind already turning the whole thing into a game, Mura approached the waterhole in a zigzag pattern, leaning on both her sisters in turn as if she couldn’t possibly walk in a straight line.

As much as Mura's zigzag path was frustrating to walk in when trying to guide her to the watering hole, Dru was extremely relieved and happy for the silliness. Obviously, the wounds were not that serious if she was acting normally, and the blood was slowing, if not stopping.
Well, as normal as Mura usually acted. Which was more normal than Tachio or their brothers. They just had to come up with a story for Mom about the bump on her head, though Dru didn't think Auntie Keene would believe if, and even if she did, Auntie Keene would still fuse something fierce.Whatever they decided to tell Mom and Auntie Keene, they need not tell them in front of their brothers. Mura would never live it down. Not unless they pounced them in the middle of the night. Hmmmm. Possiblities. Dru gave an evil smile as they reached the watering, thinking about pouncing the boys in the dead of night and scaring them.
No, Dru didn't care if the boys tried to rag on Mura about, because she'd be avenged if they did.
