Holy s**t, Eve was mad! He put up his hands in defense, trying to step back and away from the barrage of attacks. Unfortunately for him, he backed right into that favourite tree of his. Oh, for goodness sake...
"Why are you so mad?!" he demanded, wincing as she turned from punching to swinging a bag at him. Goddamnit, what did she have in there? Was that her book bag? Because that would explain a whole lot. "Shouldn't I be the angry one? I just found out that you're a--"
Wait a minute. What had she been saying? "How could you assume such a thing of me", or something like that, right? It had been hard for Lucien to tell considering that he had been busy trying to protect himself, but he lowered his arms now. "Hold on a sec, so you're not working as a prostitute, Eve?" Whoops. No wonder she was pissed off.
"...but wait, what is your job, then?"

"Ugh!" Eve declared with a last and final whack, halting her slew of attacks on him to give him some breathing room, panting. Oh, she had the stamina to carry on, definitely, since she was riled up by his silly boring imagination that thought she was referring to some other night job... "You're an idiot!" She finished, resisting the urge to kick him.
"Stop saying that word!" She wailed, raising her bag again threateningly. Man, she would never live it down if someone like Elzo or Luke found out about this. They would most definitely be very amused, and their amusement would spark her annoyance. Boys!
"I told you, it's... not easy to explain." She muttered, lowering her voice, lest any curious bystanders were trying overhear their conversation. "It's better to show you myself, I think. You are free tonight, right?"

Rubbing at his arm--the one that was undoubtedly bruised by now thanks to the barrage of attacks the angry blond had unleashed on him--Lucien eyed her warily. "Well it sounded suspicious to me," he grumbled, "And I only said 'that word' once." He had only implied it the first time, which wasn't the same thing!
Whatever it was though, it had sounded serious. I'm still alive, aren't I? That's what she had said. And since it wasn't the danger of selling herself on the street that might kill her (she sure as hell made that clear), then the only other thing it could be was...
...Drug-trafficking? One glance at Eve told him that no, that probably wasn't it, and he shouldn't bring it up unless he wanted to get mauled by the angry girl. A cop then, maybe? Whatever it was, it looked like he would get a chance to see her in action if he accepted the offer. But...did he want to? Did he want to have to see what kind of dangers his friend and practically-sister put herself through?
"...Yeah, I'm free tonight," he answered finally, though his knitted brows and frown showed that he wasn't pleased by this, "You still have my number, right?" He wouldn't be able to support her as well if he didn't have the full story, and considering how stressful this job seemed, he wanted to make sure she knew she could come to him for advice or lean on him anytime.

"You were thinking it multiple times." Eve retorted, her lips firmly pulled into a pout, not relaxing her offensive stance. A part of her mind was still firmly planted into her 'fighting mode' and it took a few deep breaths before she slowly lowered her bag. It didn't mean that he was off the hook though. Any more silly remarks and she would absolutely keep up the attacks.
Of course, it was hard to expect someone as boring as Lucy understanding what she meant and thinking that she was one of those vigilantes. Of course, it wasn't far-fetched for him to come up with alternative theories. But he really shouldn't have such little faith in her!
"Good." She said quietly, not wanting to draw any more attention to themselves than their fight already did. "And of course, Lucy! You're under 'Mr Boring Lucy-face' and you're on speed dial. Saves me from wasting time." Of course, she hadn't really been calling him of late, but he was still there, right on the number 7, because she had once explained that she thought he needed more luck to be less boring.

Having learned his lesson already, Lucien kept any other "she'll-kick-me-where-it-hurts" comments to himself. That, however, didn't stop him from making his usual grumpy face at Eve's name for him.
"Is that so? I have you down as 'Crazy Shopaholic Evette'." Well, no, he didn't really, but she didn't know that. Not yet, anyways. "Has a nice ring to it, don't you think?"
A quick glance at his watch determined that it was almost time for him to pick up his siblings from school. Pushing himself up, he pat the grass off of his pants before turning to Eve.
"I've gotta go pick up Nadia and Aidan. If you can text me with the place and time beforehand, I'd appreciate that. If it's not one of those jobs that follow a strict schedule...just call me when you need me there." He wanted to make sure his siblings were safely tucked in bed before he left them alone for a couple of hours.
"I uh...I guess I'll see you later."

"I haven't been shopping in ages!" Eve retorted, hands on her hips. And that was true too; she was often so weary from studies and patrols that she would head home instead of going to the mall. Good shopping took a whole day and loads of energy, after all, and she didn't have much of them both these days thanks to her hectic schedule.
...One day, she was going to steal his cellphone and give herself a nice nickname.
"I can do that." She told him with a firm nod. She probably had to text him first, then patrol. Or text him as she was patrolling? Or really, she thought, she should just meet him in civilian form first. "See you, Lucy! Don't you dare skip out on me because you're home reading or sewing or something!"
