He'd promised? What had he promised? Audrey searched her mind frantically and realized that Castor had called her by name. Not Lina nor Linarite, but Audrey. All this time they'd known each other? That's when it clicked for her. The glamour did nothing to hide what her heart knew and her mind remembered. A ring shoved under her nose as she tried to struggle away, a promise and an offer to a girl huddled in a hospital bed feeling vulnerable and so very alive for the first time. Elzo Xanis had promised her that he would love her always. "Elzo?!" The whisper coincided almost immediately with the most blindingly pure-white senshi telling him to stop what he was doing. It drew the bluenette's attention to the dissipating power above her head and incredulity was in her face.

He was going to kill them both?! Amber eyes widened and fingers clutched at his tie. "Are you insane? I asked you to kill me not do stupidly romantic bullshit!" Or at least, that's what the bluenette had intended to say. She got as far as "Are..." before that silly little crafts project from her first Christmas in the Negaverse made its appearance. He'd kept it with him the whole time and she'd never seen. Never known. Why would he have kept it if it were all a joke? No, it wasn't a joke. Someone had lied to Linarite and now she'd made a fool out of herself over it. Nearly killed Castor because of it though it was not strictly about the fact that she'd thought she'd been betrayed. Betrayal had been the easy part and was helping numb the pain.

What he was saying was only heaping it more upon the teen until she was all but shaking in his arms and put her hand again lightly over his heart. "I can't do it. Twice I've had my hand there but...I'm faster than that. You would have never gotten my wrist if I didn't want you to. Why am I such a failure?" Curls moved back and forth as she shook her head and looked up into the face of Cosmos. "I can't prove anything. I can't prove that I'm not evil, I can't prove that I am evil, I can't even prove that I'm alive most days. I don't deserve the chances I've had and I don't really think I even deserve..." Her hands rested against Sailor Castor and a shudder ran down her body once. "I was prepared to die. Now I don't want to."

Amber eyes looked with renewed hope at Sailor Cosmos. "Metallia might be powerful but her servants are fractured and weak. Beryl took away the only support she truly had and there are very few that serve her wholeheartedly. Can you help me? I don't want to kill anymore." And that was the heart of the matter. Though the power felt as good as anything she'd ever felt, Audrey did not want to be a murderer anymore. She knew how Elzo had felt, how her parents had felt, and hell even Tanzanite had felt something for the girl in the hospital bed.

How many people had she done that to?

"I want to make things right. Please. Can you help me? I can start proving it then....with Castor." As long as she had him there was nothing she couldn't do.

Sailor Cosmos smiled, though it didn't reach her eyes. A sad smile, a fake one-- she certainly was not happy seeing the raw pain, but she was satisfied. Everything was to change from this point, but it was easier to have a comrade at arms that you could always depend on. She hadn't expected Linarite to agree to it, she had thought that the blue haired lieutenant was satisfied with her lot in life, but humanity always surprised her. Love always surprised her-- it had been too long since she had felt it herself, and even she had to admit at this point that her one foray was infatuation, a whisper of a chance of love but never blooming.

Linarite's corruption felt like a wall between the two of them, hiding her real heart but still cracking all on it's own. It would make things easier on her that she was willing to try to stop Metallia in her own way.

"I can purify her," Sailor Cosmos said simply, standing up from her crouched position, "I can purify but I cannot corrupt, and I can choose not to purify. Purifying Beryl, say, would be an influx of power to Chaos that we would have a hard time handling. Endymion doubly so; but that is neither here nor there."

The glow became slightly brighter, and she slammed her suddenly longer staff in to the concrete as if it were soft ground.

"Cosmic Harmony Swell."

Pain. Was it supposed to be painful? The logical part of Audrey's mind said that yes -- this was a life-altering event and all such things were supposed to leave a lasting imprint on you. That way you never did such things lightly. But it was a different sort of pain from the tearing, gnawing, finality that was becoming a General of the Negaverse. This was the searing pain of a sunburn, alcohol in a wound, the feeling of being scoured of all evil.

It was almost as if Audrey could feel the cracks in her star seed mending themselves and being repaired. Once, Linarite had done the stupidest thing possible and reached hands into her own chest. Around that throat-closing agony, a picture had been timed and taken of the thing that was once her pure life. It had been black, cracked, and missing pieces entirely. She was truly a broken creature.

But not anymore.

This burning power was healing her wounds -- all of them. Physical, spiritual, mental. Tears ran in rivers down the teenager's face as she was forced to realize the full consequences of all of her actions in the Negaverse. She was reliving the terror of Barren Pines without the clouding haze of Negaverse brainwashing. What had she done? How could she make up for this?

The light cleared in front of her eyes even as her mind screamed out in horror at herself and blue eyes gazed into her own with the utmost love and hope. Castor. Castor was going to be how she carried on now. She could use him to help make everything right and he would support her as she strove to atone for her actions. Atone how, Lina was entirely unsure. For that was her true name, Lina. Lina Knight of Mercury though she'd been Linarite once before too.

Audrey had gone from human to powered again in the form of a Knight, symbols of the planet Mercury covering her outfit, edged with fur as the light faded and she looked again at the man she loved. "I've been so terrible Castor. I'm so sorry. For all of it." Eyes looked up again and her hands reached out.

He couldn't deny her now.

There wasn’t just a mere force to the words the white haired woman said. There was power. Power that echoed around Linarite, and tore into her, Castor only holding her as it carried Linarite through the purification, until it pulled her away to complete the processs. And that was just what it was. The purification, the banishment, the removal of that wall, the ocean of darkness that had stood between them for so long. Now being brushed aside by the very forces of the universe. By Cosmos, but more importantly, by what Castor would later say was love. That was what he felt as she glowed and shimmered and changed in front of him. He felt love. It radiated around them all, inside of her, inside of him. It was love. It was power.
It was all they needed.
As tears rolled down his beloved’s face from reasons he did not know, Castor whispered to her. Watching the powerful whirlwind of magic he was unsure if his words reached her. “I won’t leave you. We’re going to do this Lina, we’re going to do this together.”
Her eyes tore into his and he felt a tug in his heart. He loved her so much. To see pain, sorrow, regret filling her eyes he still could only feel an overwhelming sense of love. As she reached out, Castor had no hesitation. Pulling her into his arms he embraced her like he would take her into his very body if he could. “Don’t be sorry Lina.” Lina. His Lina. His Knight. “Never be sorry for being who you are.” His Knight. His Wife. His future…and his past. The sound out wardrums echoed in his skull as he felt the song of his star cry out to him, calling him. It was a hammer of force in his mind, in his heart, in his very starseed. She was his wife. She was his knight. And he?
He was her prince.

Lips crashed into hers, harsh and demanding as raw power flooded his body, filling him up, changing him. It was not a painful thing. It was like waking up from a dream. Like having mist removed from your vision, the smoke gone, and all was clear. He wasn’t just Eternal Sailor Castor senshi of Hail. He was Prince Castor. Royal. Hail was his weapon, his medium. He was the strongest of his kind. And he was her’s. Prince Castor, senshi of Hail, married over a thousand years ago to the Knight of Mercury. To the same woman in his arms now. Lips parted and he knew it. This was how they should have been. How they always would be. Always and forever. For eternity.
The Prince smiled.
“It took us a few thousand years Lina…but I keep my promises.” He just held her, what had once been a beaded charm in his hand now a crystal. His crystal. “My beautiful nymph. My Daphne.”

Daphne. That name, or perhaps the purification itself, had summoned up a force to press against the back of her eyes. It felt like there was something she ought to be remembering, something that the young woman should have known about the name Daphne and what it entailed. Promises....promises....everything flashed in the light again -- one more gift from the benevolent Cosmos.

The knight remembered that everything around her was going dark and daisies were everywhere. The ground was wet, she was wet, there was blood? But then Castor was there and that was all that mattered. After all the fighting...fighting? Had they fought for something? They were together. She was pulled from the ground and they promised each other.

Love was forever and they would be together in another life, to try again.

Lips curved and she shook back her hair with a true laugh, arms throwing themselves around the prince and forcing him to support her weight suspended. "Only a few thousand years? That doesn't seem too long. It took us awhile to figure it out though, didn't it?" She clung fiercely for a moment with all the strength of a warrior before turning eyes back to Cosmos.

"Thank you. From the depths of my soul thank you. I don't know what this will do to the balance but I promise to fight it as hard as I can, because there's really no way to ever repay you. Just to prove I'm worth it." Moving so that the new prince knew to release her, the knight dropped back to the ground and gave a perfect bow. She was in Cosmos' debt for eternity now and there really was no way to repay giving someone both their life and their love back.

Tanzanite needed this. Then she could be...could be...wait. Who was she? Who could she be again? Eyes went a bit wide and wild. "Wait. I don't remember who they are. Tanzanite. Zinkenite. They're just Negaversers to me. I don't remember who they are!" That was disturbing. Why couldn't she remember that? Was that...part of the deal?

Wait.

"Do they know who I am?" Trouble in paradise.

Sailor Cosmos was already shaking her head at their thank-you's, wanting already to disappear in to the darkness once more; too much had happened for her to feel thankful for the moment of happiness that she had brought them, instead of despair. Her own personal balance outweighed this one act of good.

Lina touched on the issue at hand, the reason Cosmos was unable to flee from a moment that should have just been between two people.

"I'm sorry, Lina... Daphne. I can only give you a choice, and I regret not telling you of the consequences of this choice. Your civilian identity is compromised; Your own mother will not recognize you. Think of it like this, maybe-- Audrey Collins died here, and you are not her. You must understand that I would take away the memories of family if only to stop the pain that will come, but that would effect the balance as well. It was not my decision, but I do not consider myself absolved because of it. Those who believe you've made the ultimate betrayal against their kingdom will try to come for you, if you meant anything to them, and will find only your family. It is better they never see you, never make the connection with their daughter and you," Sailor Cosmos looked devastated, and spread her wandless hands in a gesture of helpfulness, "I can only give you a chance, the choice; to live or die, together. Your choices in the past were under corruption, under duress, and you must not consider yourself wholly responsible. If you had taken genuine pleasure, even for a moment, during your corruption, I would have never been able to purify you."

Cosmos turned to Prince Castor, and put her hands on his shoulders, making him look her in her eyes.

"You are a Prince. You will remember that once you were taught to purify, as you just saw me do. I caution you, I caution you most strongly, from calling on that power to turn people to light once more. Times have changed, and it could very well kill you," Cosmos shook him lightly, as if this would make him retain the knowledge more, "I am only standing because I am more of an idea than a person, at this point in time. You have forged a bond with Lina, you two are bound and forever will be bound-- she will need you. I can stand on the precipice and choose to stay my sword-- but can you do that? Can you just let someone die because their living will effect the world over? I once made the wrong choice, once intervened when I knew I mustn't. For that, I pay every day of my life."

Turning around swiftly, Sailor Cosmos faded, replacing herself with Sidra Winters.

"I run a teen help hotline. It's not at school anymore, but I cannot disclose the location," Sidra pulled a card out of her saddlebag, and presented it to Lina, "I'm barely a teen anymore myself, the name just stuck; if either of you need anything, anything at all, just call. It's sort of like calling the cavalry, Astraea's there too... but I banned her from answering phones last week, what a nightmare."

Sidra had bags under her eyes, looked too thin, and coughed lightly under her breath whenever there was a pause in her little speech. It sounded practiced, and she looked like hell.

"Just a cold," Sidra smiled weakly, and turned to walk away. She needed to get home and crash in to bed for a week-- when she had left her apartment she had been in the pink of health.

Eyes watched Sidra walk away, hand closing around the card reflexively as the new knight's mind processed the information she'd just been given. They knew everything about her still. Audrey Collins was as good as dead and her family....there was something about her family that gave her hope. She couldn't put her finger on what but maybe they would be safe? After all, Audrey didn't live there anymore.

But there were other things. Her friends, her scholarship, and hell to say she wouldn't miss the chance to play with Jada's finances was painful. Cosmos hadn't warned her that she was going to lose everything to...to gain everything. Castor's hand was warm on her back and his wings enveloped her as he held her close. It felt so perfect and right when her head rested against his shoulder and she looked up at him.

"Everything will be alright, won't it?" It was plaintive and childish, but it needed to be heard. If he believed that everything would be okay, it would be. Idealistic fools the both of them, made for each other in more ways than one. Cosmos had warned Linarite that there needed to be a balance.

Her memories were, apparently, a part of that balance. She could not, even if she were willing and she was not, betray the Negaverse or any of its officers this way. Yet she was not entirely safe from them. But everything would be alright.

It had to be.

What Cosmos had done was something Castor would never feel he would be able to repay her for. When he had been claiming to fight for Serenity, for something he didn't understand, he now knew what he had really been fighting for. He had been fighting for her. For Lina. For them. That was why he was willing to die. Why he would risk his life. Lina was his everything, and without her, he would have nothing to drive him, to push him. Cosmos had done more then given him a chance to be with his love. She had given him his very reason for being.

Wings moved and enclosed them, holding her near as the wind blew, cape flapping. A cape. God. It was real. This was who he was. This was who he had to be. Prince. Dayum, even the title made him feel good. Looking down at his beloved, Castor chuckled at the question. "Yes." Closing his eyes, he rested his chin atop her head. This was right. This was his purpose.
"Everything will be alright. I'm here now, by your side." He could hear them, the war drums of Castor, like a faint echo in his skull. "I'll always be here Lina." Circling his lips offered a tender kiss. "I will always be by your side. Forever."Wings opened to the world around them. "Let's go home Lina." The echo was a touch louder, a touch more demanding. Holding her hand he looked into the night sky. "You ready?"

Unable to resist, Lina reached out and rapped her knuckles against the metal of his chest, grinning and feeling suddenly giddy. There would be time later to think about consequences, the balance of good and evil, and dealing with the fact that she had so much to atone for.

But right now the moon was bright, the stars were shining, and Castor couldn't stop smiling at her like the dope he was. Knowing that he was Elzo had not only settled both heart and mind but the memory that had come to her with Cosmos' gift had clicked everything permanently into place.

Putting her hand in his she dipped a giggling curtsy. "Whatever you wish my Prince." Lina almost wanted to just stand in the middle of the street like this, cuddle on their bench, anything so that the whole world could see. Nobody could stop them now short of killing the pair and their combined power was impressive enough that it would take more of an effort than just walking up.

It was amazing how things could change in a year.

"Lets go home."
PostPosted: Sat Apr 02, 2011 6:20 pm

As wings enclosed around them more, the wardrums pounded not just in his heart, but in his veins, his blood, his star seed. In his very soul. Castor was calling him. No- It was calling for them. She was his Knight. The woman he loved. His star wanted it's prince. But it wanted more then that, it wanted her. Star and senshi were connected. A promise of eternal love was not something taken lightly. Not when made to your love. Not when made to your true love. The one whole your soul, your starseed, was tied to. Prince Castor was tied to Lina Knight. Both 2000 some years ago, and in that moment. They were tied together. Forever.
And so his star was calling out for their return. Not only his return, but their return.
"Yes." He let the magic fill him up, no cellphone required. "Let's."

The street lamp flicked for a moment, but when light filled the area the two where gone. The bench was the fixed from verious broken states. Blood still lingered from an old stain. And flowers were still wilted from spring chills. Yet as they vanished a new grow had broken from the earth surface. In a few days, it would bloom. Two daisies, intertwined. Rooting going deep into the earth, but pure white petals facing the sky and the stars above.
