Theta Thirteen turned ever so slightly cocking his head at Theta One. All her jumping about and such seemed a bit... out of place he supposed considering the current situation. "Yes, I suppose we are all Theta in this tent, now quiet down a bit before you bring any attention to our tent." Heaven forbid another person was near by looking for a target.

Turning back to Theta Five he gave another simple shrug. "No clue what we could find in the town, weapons, supplies, people like us, or locals even." Assuming locals actually existed around here. "I say we go now rather then later, the longer we wait the more likely someone else moves before we do."

Turning around to face some of the others Theta 13 raised his hand. "Listen up, me and uh...." He paused for a moment looking at Theta Five before spotting the the large V stamped on his gear. "Me and Five are going to head north to the town. We'll probably cut across the road leading to the light house, and then off the road till we get closer to the town. If anyone wants to come, speak up now."

This sure as heck isn't a place I'd like to vacay at... an armor, and cloth clad fellow thought to himself. Well, he was more like a clone, by the looks of it. There were plenty of other individuals sporting the same gear and fashion as he. Not very tasteful... but what ever. He'd been awake longer, and earlier than most of the other's, and took this time to check out the home base they'd been assigned. Seemed like a good enough joint. It'd certainly be useful for looking out incase the group was approached by... well, anything. But by the looks outside, it'd be a trying event, as the thick heavy fog blurred most of their surroundings; aside from the towering evergreens, and nude conifers branches.

Of course, the bloke was oblivious to any idea of how he'd gotten here... or who the heck he was. It was as if his mind had been erased, or perhaps he'd been genetically grown and placed here to survive in some sick twisted third party's amusement. Well all that didn't matter too much right now. After that little meeting earlier where he and the rest of the 'volunteers' were informed on their new environment and given instruments of survival, and waking up from a nap that seemed like an eternity, the assumption formed by VIII was this was a warfare of some kind. Perhaps a simulation to test out some sort of new territory established. It was every man for himself.
Though they'd been assigned 'teams', it would be hard to believe that they'd be backing him in this situation. He didn't know a single one of them. And he couldn't tell what kind of status they held, physically wise, to know if they would hinder or help him in this pit of death. Glancing idly around to take a casual survey of the others with him, VIII decided it'd be best to get a weapon sooner than later. Prepare for the worst, as things could only go down hill from here on out. He'd need to find a way out of here, and it'd probably be in his best interest to stay with a group. Stronger in numbers, eh? forming alliances would be a smart choice too. Though... at the seminar, the old goon had spoke that only 13 would live.... That stopped him in his tracks; though he wasn't going too fast-- still adapting to his new gear.
Only 13 would survive... man. Was that a ball buster or what? It'd surely make others go rogue...
Keeping a low profile would prove essential. Maybe less ties were better, than more. Less folks to get attached to. If one of them died, or he had to kill one... man.
Shaking his head, he pushed forward, reaching to the weapon strewn table to snatch up his item of choice.

Theta Seven woke up feeling like he'd been run over by at least three trucks and then had a bunch of bricks dumped on him just for good measure. He lurched into action checking his person over and giving everything a cursory glance and even took a moment to stare at his cell phone's message with a feel of something akin to indifference but not when it concerned his own survival. He had no intention of dying any time soon he gazed around through the circles of his mask not feeling too bothered by the fact that he was wearing one. He had no real urge to remove it - he enjoyed the anonymity of it and it made it easier to not with these people he found himself with. Not that he was against making friends or rather allies but it was safer not to get attached considering what the text said.

He went through the motions of being awake and claiming things - like a backpack and a first aid kit - as his. He reached into the bag and finding a small hand club and honestly not thinking too much of it other than the fact that it was a close range weapon and didn't really care for that aspect but he'd go with it. After a bit of looking around and making sure he had everything he decided to answer the person that mentioned that there was movement afoot and if anyone wanted to come along, "I'll go with. Safety in numbers or some crap," he drawled quietly as he moved closer. Theta Seven had no reason to linger - it felt unwise to stay in one place anyways.

"I'm ready whenever," he added after a small awkward pause on his part.

He hadn't really been paying too much attention to the crowd he'd been forced to ally with, as he was far more engrossed with the new pack he'd obtained filled with goodies of all kinds that would aid him on his ghastly new 'adventure'. A steak. Well... this would work great if he ran into vampires... which he really wouldn't be surprised at this point.

Smirking to himself, he catches the back end of some bloke shouting about, drawing him out from his rummaging. Go North? Well... the old town was there, from what the map said, and it could hold clues to ways out of this place. Or what was actually on this... island? Maybe others before them had been here before, and went through the same simulation. Either way, exploring, and checking out the area would be probably for the best. Staying in one place for too long might become dangerous, like a festering cancer; slowly lowering your defenses.

Watching the gathered couple, he pauses a moment before speaking up, "Yeah, I'll come with too.." he says after a fella before him.

When he woke up, he tried to rub at his face, only to feel the hard edges of the gas mask against his fingertips. He rolled onto his side and lay there a moment, thinking things over until he felt the buzzing vibration of the cell phone at his belt. What he read there did little to reassure him.

He had wanted this, the man had said earlier. Blood running cold in his veins, he found it hard to believe, in the here and now. Were they really going to have to kill others to get out of this place alive? Could the man have been lying? Did it even matter anymore if the man had been lying? The Thetas could be trapped here for good, and even if they weren't, there were others willing, perhaps even eager, to kill them.

Bracing a hand against the cot frame, he sat up in a hurry, the sounds of other Thetas waking up no longer quite so reassuring. What if someone decided to start their killing spree bright and early? He cast a quick glance around the tent, taking a quick mental count of all the other Thetas, whatever that signified. "There are thirteen of us. We could all survive," he said with more optimism than he felt. He went back to fiddling with the cell phone, but whatever he tried, the cell phone stayed obstinately blank.

There were much too many questions, much too many unknowns. He could think about those later, he decided. (If there was even a later for him. He shoved that depressing thought to the back-boiler of his mind, letting the thought simmer in the subconscious.) There was at least one easy choice ahead of him.

Moving to the tables, he helped himself to a first aid kit, then the backpack numbered nine. A moment's rummaging inside the backpack revealed extra bandages. Behind the gas mask, his mouth quirked into a wry ghost of a smile. "Looks like I'll be playing field medic."

Bits and pieces of conversation floated into Theta Nine's awareness. "I'll come with, if you'll have me," he called out, putting the bandages away and shouldering his backpack. "The town might have clues about why we're here." It might have other people waiting in ambush too, he thought, but hey, they could come here as well. No point in waiting around for attackers to show up. And he really, really wanted to know what was going on.

Theta Nine balled up one hand into a fist experimentally, testing the flex of the protective gear. It occurred to him that he had done this before and that it had been easier without the gloves, but he wasn't going to risk taking off any of the protective gear until he understood more of what they were dealing with here. "Even if I don't have a weapon like the rest of you, I've got a pair of fists. And I figure the bandages will come in handy later on."

"I'm going to stick close around here...no point wandering too far if everyones out to kill us. I suggest you all stick around as well...HE's right." She pointed at Theta Nine and then motioned around.

"There's thirteen of us, if we all stay in this area and together we have a better chance of fighting off who knows what sorts of numbers when they come and try and kill us." She clutched her mace close protectively, let them go run off looking for trouble. She was staying nearby, if the map was accurate then it would be the lighthouse that they should try and stick around. Maybe if she could get to the top then she could hole herself up for the seven days. Being up high would give her advantages like sight and attacking anything that came up at her.

"Of course...you all can do as you please...but...it would be nice to have some people we can count on to have our backs when trouble shows up." Who knew how many others were on the island, but if only thirteen could survive and there were twelve others in this tent with her...well she liked those numbers.

Theta four snorted, his bag slung over his shoulder, nunchucks tucked into his belt.

"If you all want to stick around here and wait for whoever to pick you off one by one, go right ahead. I for one am not hiding here like a coward."

His arms crossed, walking to the third table to look at the map, eyes narrowed as he studied it, trying to figure out where they were. Heh, as if he was just going to sit around here and wait. For all he knew it was every man for himself, or would later turn that way. He wasn't going to be the first to strike at the members of his 'squad', but he sure as hell wasn't letting his guard down around them either.

A look around the group, and then he was walking to the tent's exit, stepping out into the fog beyond. His eyes strained to see through his mask into the fog, searching for what (and who) may be lurking nearby.

"We're not alone here."

Theta Thirteen looked up eying each of the people in the turn, weighing how much they would be good for in his eyes before heading to the town. "Alright then, if you all want in, we go soon."

Theta-Five listened to Thirteen with a nod, distracted for a moment as he sat his knapsack on a nearby cot that was now empty and was arranging his backpack. He wanted to put the map back in, but then he noticed how he had shoved the first-aid kits in there and pulled them out, and then started to arrange everything in order. Once everything was set more neatly in, he folded up his map nicely and slipped it into the knapsack before closing it and putting it back on his shoulder. In the time that took, Theta-Thirteen had called out for anyone to follow, and Five looked up before moving alongside Thirteen and frowning.

As eager as everyone seemed to be, Five was feeling a nagging distaste for just rushing out now. “Wait. Wait. WAIT! Before we do anything, everyone who wants to go to Town with us has to come up here and form a line, and also show what weapon they have so we can take stock. I also want to arrange it and see how we’re doing this. We can’t just rush off in a messy heap.” The idea of just running like a mob greatly disturbed him, and he looked around at the various volunteers that would comprise a team and debated if they should leave in order of height or in order of what weapon they had OR NUMBER! Oh, but then he couldn’t be near Thirteen. Maybe just height, though if he went with alphabetically through weapon, mace and stake were close, right? Unless someone had a pipe. That could through a wrench in that arrangement. First things first. He had to see who was coming and who had what.

He gazed around as everyone talked about their plans and what they wanted to do. The idea of sticking around and waiting for danger or something to approach of even just protecting the base didn't seem very productive to him he was sorry to say - okay he wasn't all that sorry but it certainly didn't appeal. Theta Seven was certain that he wanted to move about and get a good look at his surroundings as well as keep moving sitting in the same area seemed to be an invitation to trouble for him.

In the end both concepts were just as dangerous as the other.

"Well stickin' around is just as dangerous as movin' about I think...If what the text said is true. Sure there are thirteen of us but who knows what the future brings," he replied as he moved to form a line with those that were going to wander away from the area a bit, "besides...nothin' stoppin' us from tryin' to come back to help if need be...I uh...I got a little hand club-mace-thing," Theta Seven answered vaguely when the subject of his usefulness came up.

The young man didn't know if he was useful in a fight or not he didn't recall ever being in one but he was sure he could manage something.

"Either way I'm definitely goin'," he reiterated just in case his point was unclear.

Her head. Her <******** head.

Well she didn't remember much, but at least she remembered how to swear. A wordless groan came out as soon as the girl woke up, the blur of lights and sounds from all around swarming and hitting her like an anvil straight to the head. An iron ball replaced her brain, crunching into the sides of her skull as she moved to sit up. Fumbling, her hands went through reflexive motions, fingers stretching to stroke through hair that she couldn't find. What the hell, Was the first blurry thought, followed by is this a joke? Tugging and pulling and mapping the mask on her face, the girl slowly roused from her daze. Soundless background noise was turning into words, the somewhat warm cot beneath her only furthering her confusion. Where was she? Her lips formed into a tight line beneath the gas mask, eyes blinking rapidly to try and try and get rid of the iron ball in her head. And then she remembered that she didn't remember anything, and another metaphorical anvil seemed to drop from the heavens above.

Sluggishly, her feet dropped over the side of the cot, and in a matter of three-two-one, she hefted herself up. The ground blurred viciously, ears ringing and the need to vomit rising in the back of her throat. Swallowing her fear, she stared blankly out at the figures before her, all cloaked in the same genderless gear. Slowly, like rusted metal, her head cocked to the side, a low buzzing pitch reaching her ears. Fumbling, she found a cell phone - funny, where had that come from? - and made for rapid fire button pressing until the screen slowly flickered to life. "Hello there," She found herself crooning. She sounded like a croaking, half dead whale. Okay, talking was out of the question now. Snapping her jaw shut beneath the mask, the girls eyes narrowed, the words appearing in clear, black etched lines.

Good morning, it has been three days...

Mon dieu, -- Wait. She knew french? Since when? Cue rolling of eyes, cue continuation of message. Obviously Theta-two had no idea how to keep herself focused.

Only thirteen... -

Everyone will be killed.

Killed. Kill. Death. Dead.

A shiver ran up her spine, but she figured she was either a very passive person, or the shock was overriding the panic button nestled somewhere in her brain, because all she could do was stare blankly at the far wall. A statue in motion, she craned her head to the others, caught a few snatching bags off of the table. Theta-two wasn't much of a pick-pocket, but damn were her fingers quick in swooping in like hawks to retrieve her own supplies. Her hands brushed over something sharp - a wooden stake? Her mind instantly went to Vampires. Well that was just great. I'm so dead. Continuing, the girl sighed, her head pulsing to remind her she still had a heart beat. After all, mysterious island entitled creepy moments where the hero geared up with weapons and other fun toys to play with when the villains came around. Theta-two's hands paused as she fumbled to tuck the phone away. But when had it ever been stated that she was the good guy? Sagging her shoulders a bit, she twisted her attention towards the sound of voices, caught bits and pieces of conversation.

What were they talking about -- leaving?

... To be honest, it sounded like a pretty good idea. After all, all that talk of death and dead people, the idea of being killed and being the one pulling the trigger was taking its toll. Who would want to stay in one place and wait for the creepers in the night to come? Not her. Survival instincts kicking in - or at least, what was left of them if she even had any, - the girl slid towards the small group like a snake, oddly silent for someone in armor and a gas mask. Maybe she'd been a ninja in her past life. The girl quickly pushed the dumb joke out of her head. Yeah ******** right. Close enough now, Theta-two opened her mouth behind the leather of the gasmask, only to be cut off by a loud voice.

"Wait. Wait. WAIT!"

The iron ball returned. The iron ball rolled right into the side of her skull. "Mon dieu," She snapped loudly, shifting her knapsack on her shoulder. Nudging her way up towards the group and beside the loud whatever-that-voice-sounded-manly-enough number five, the girl clicked her tongue. "Could you be any louder, boyo?" Shuffling a bit, she stared at the world beyond the open tent entrance, her heart pounding a little as realization settled in. She had no memory. She was stuck here with a group who could very well be one of the bad guys in disguise. Hell, she could be the bad guy herself. But hyperventilation wasn't part of her plans, so she just turned to Theta-five, the one who'd been yelling. Then her eyes turned to the rest of the group, counting off the numbers one by one. For now, they were the only people around, and she had a sinking feeling that she didn't like to be alone.

"Sorry,"
She said next, a caustic taste to her tone, hidden behind the slightly hesitant next words. Shuffling a bit, she glanced at the scattered gas mask cadets. "Is it alright if I join you guys? It'd be s**t to be alone right now. Well, alone with whoever dragged us here in the first place." Her hands flicked and gestured to the entrance, her weight shifting to one foot.

Well, one of them might have been the bad guy, but she was willing to give damn near anything a shot at this point. And if that meant trusting gas mask troupers who looked nearly identical then her then... well, she supposed it couldn't be much worse than being all alone.

PostPosted: Sun Apr 03, 2011 1:33 am

He heard a new voice and gazed toward it and shifted his shoulders indifferently, "I don't see why not?" it wasn't really his call to make in the end. Either way something had caught his attention and his head tilted toward the exit of the tent. Theta Seven wanted to see what it was since now that it had his attention a burning curiosity welled up inside him. "I'm going to check out the situation outside, if you hear a blood curdling cry that was probably me," he said simply and then moved to duck his way out to check things out.

Not that Theta planned to let out any such cry.

For now he moved outside ignoring any attempts to get him to stay put for now.

Gazing back at the other, Theta-two raised a brow. It was only a moment later that she realized no one would even be able to see it. Dropping a sigh, she rolled her shoulders, gathering her dwindling wits into what they were worth. Her head tilted, the iron ball slowly becoming nothing more than a dull throb. "Suppose so..." She smiled; again, she had to remind herself it couldn't be seen. "But hell, you know what always happens to big groups in horror flicks." Her shoulders tilted up into a shrug, her eyes turning to the open flaps of the tent. "And I don't know how this is much different." She was starting to believe she was kind of talkative too. The caustic bite in her undertones felt at home, but the overall humor that stuck in her brain, dark and wet and clinging was what amused her the most. How could one be amused by themselves? Maybe she was just all sorts of crazy inside.

Considering new words in the absence of responses, Theta-two was only stopped by the distanced sound of something in the fog, and the stranger's head turning. When he spoke up, a twist and turn of words and I-might-get-killed-now's, Theta-two blinked, once, twice, before realizing that he was already gone. Forgetting herself in the moment, gas mask, armor, knapsack, and all, the girl turned her eyes towards the rest of the group. "If you hear a curse to shame a sailor, that was probably me," She teased, her humor dripping with fear as she dashed out after the other, if only out of sheer stupidity. "Hey!" She yelled into the fog, clambering with mismatched steps after the figure that moved further into the deep. "Hey, woah, woah, woah, you aren't actually planning on going out there alone, are you, boyo? You'll die."

Further and further into the fog she went, spinning circles and getting herself lost, following a hand that might have become a trick of shadows a while ago. "Hey - woah." Pausing in the middle of the mist covered area, the girl spun herself around, pivoting on her feet and picking herself up onto her toes - as if that would do any good, brat, - her eyes widening as she realized just how lost she'd made herself trying to follow the idiot who was probably already dead. Rash, she added to her mental checklist of personality traits. Rash and about as intelligent as the guy she'd ran after.

"Seriously?"
She yelled into the fog. And the fog simply stared back. "Oh, come on," It continued to stare. "This is absolutely ridiculous!"

And so she continued to run.

She groaned wished the noises would subside, she did not wish to be awake right now. No, she felt extremely groggy, heavy and kind of hot. Ugh, why was she so warm? Rolling over she promptly fell right off the small cot on which she lay.

"Ow," she groaned opening her eyes to see that she was wearing a thing, a mask, a gas mask. She reached up wanting to take it off, but the man, in the cloak, the one from before his words came to her.

Right, she was in, well who only knew where, taking off the mask could kill her, but at least she wasn't alone. A buzzing at her hip made her look down and she sat on the floor starring for a moment at the cellphone attached to her hip. Who would possible be texting her, she did not know, she did not even know who she was.

Reaching down she fiddled with the phone, a message coming up, read quickly and in total disbelief, she even started laughing momentarily. She held up the cellphone to share the stupid joke, but judging by the other's around her it wasn't. In seven days she could very well be dead. She had volunteered for this and it could get her killed.

Theta VI wanted to know why? Why would she volunteer for this and where was she and what was this anyway. She groaned in annoyance.

Someone was calling out instructions or rather orders which caused her to look to said person and roll her eyes not that the person could see the gesture. She pulled herself off the ground and headed over to the table with stuff on it. It seemed everyone was grabbing a backback and she followed suit, taking a bag from the table and opening it and rummaging though it as she headed for the instructing one because apparently they were leaving and she did not want to be left alone in this horror movie waiting to happen.

Out of a bag, she pulled a small stake and looked it over. She felt rather incredulous looking at the instrument, it was as if she was to come in contact with a vampire or something. The thought was laughable.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw two of the 'team' head out and she shook her head. Because of course two against the world would really help their odds of survival. She stood looking to Theta Five and Thirteen her posture read as if to say, well?

He had been outside the tent, searching the area around him, taking stock of his surroundings. Snort, staying inside the tent would accomplish nothing, the others could bury their heads in the sand and wait around if they wanted to, but he was taking action. As he walked he held his nunchucks in his hand, testing the weight, taking a few practice swings, maybe he was just trying to keep his hands occupied.

Then there was that familiar buzz on his belt, the chime of his phone. Snatching his phone, he read the new text message, pendants? Well then, it seemed he needed to get his hands on one, a goal to reach at last. Fine then.

Again he tried to get the phone to work, to do -something-, but again it refused to respond with anything besides those text messages (who the hell was sending them anyways?). The phone returned to his belt with a huff, Theta four turned his attention again to searching for whatever--wait, the fog had not been this thick a moment ago.

What the hell? He was sure he had been within sight of the base camp only a moment ago, but now he could see nothing, he could barely even see his own feet! His body tensed, his hair standing on end, he was sure he wasn't alone out here, being unable to see who else was around was extremely unnerving. Stay on your guard, an attack could come from anywhere!

OH GOD WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT SOUND?! His hands immediately went to his ears, not that it did any good, or that he could even feel his ears for all the equipment he was wearing. Well, there was only one way to find out...
