Oh weren't these fellows adorable? With another grand sigh, 3 listened to 1's spiel on being teammates and the like, and rolled his eyes, something that the others would remain happily oblivious too, what with the lovely gear they were all wearing. Thus far, there was no one here that III felt particularly keen on getting to know better, though he had some hope for 7...but only a little. Regardless, he would play this game until it suited him to do elsewise. If naught else, he didn't intend on letting anyone in on his duplicity.

"Wise enough." He murmured, commenting on 1's words. For all that the man rankled him, at least he was doing something. "And it's all too painfully clear that we cannot stay here forever. Mind, moving as one seems the wiser thing to do, as to branch off into smaller groups at this juncture is, to be blunt...suicide." Perhaps later in the game, when more of them were dead...then 3 could take advantage of the situation.

Even if he loathed being coupled with these peons, he could at least pretend to make nice until he could survive on his own.

[α V is ENTERING the Alpha Base Tent.]

When he woke up again, he was in some kind of ... tent? Yea, tent. "Whaaaaaaat the hell," he muttered, sitting up and rubbing at his head a little. Or at least trying to. Because instead of doing that, his fingers 'thunked' against the side of some kind of mask on his face. What? Mask?

.... Oh right. The stupid gas mask thing. From the classroom. With all the other people. Wait, people? Where did they -- oh there they were. Right. Stop freaking out, ........ s**t, what was his name? He didn't even have a NAME? "Why the ******** ... did I sign up for whatever this crazy trip is?" he muttered to himself. Then he recalled that he was supposed to have a number. Sooo, what was his number? Ah right.

α V. Okay then. Pushing himself up off that cot, Fiver - as he'd instantly decided to call himself - moved toward the table with supplies on it, grabbing the bag with his number on it.

Pulling the thing open, he pawed about inside and soon yanked out some kind of mace. "Score!!" he crowed, waving it about in the air a bit. This thing looked like it could do some DAMAGE. To what, he wasn't sure. But hey, having a weapon was always good. Right? Eerrrm, right.

Glancing about then, he headed over to the nearest person and stuck his hand out toward another boy with a 3 on his mask. "Heya, Three-pi-oh!" he chirped cheerfully - not entirely certain where the reference came from but it sounded cool! "Fiver. What's up?"

... Oh god. She was surrounded by... by nerds. These masks all (except for Seven, who looked... possibly hot?) hid nerds! Ugh! She couldn't entirely explain the sense of revulsion that descended upon her, but it was present nevertheless. How could she cope...

...

... but nerds knew what to do with weapons and things, right? That was a nerd thing, wasn't it? From like... video games. And stuff.

She took a deep breath. "Like, I don't want to like get off on the wrong foot, okay? We're, like, a team, so like, we're all in this together, right?" She sidled over towards Seven, though she did nod briefly at One. Even if somehow he HAD gotten a higher number than her, he seemed maybe okay. Also possibly hot, under the mask.

Ugh!

Three stared for a rather melodramatic, drawn-out moment at Five, wishing now that the other could see the look that Three was giving him. Ah grand, they'd gained another idiot. An idiot wielding a mace. At least he hadn't managed to clock himself with it yet. Oh, and it would seem he was fond of idiotic little nicknames. Oh yes, of course, Three's favorite. ...well maybe they were, he wasn't sure.

No, that was a lie. He was sure that he loathed cutesy nicknames. "Fiver, hnn? Well let me inform you, Fiver, that if you continue to address me by that moniker, I may be forced to do you bodily harm." Though it was said in such a tone, fraught with sarcasm, so that it could be taken as both a threat...or just a mere expression of annoyance. No use in tipping his hand just yet.

Yes. Still going to ignore Two. Five, for all his misguided enthusiasm, was preferable.

Fiver raised a brow behind his mask - though he knew that no one could see it. Well, wasn't HE a touchy one? Oh well, if he didn't want a cool nickname, he didn't have to get one. Pfff. Whatever.

"Okay fine, Three then," he agreed with a nod, hefting that mace and smacking it against the opposite palm. "What weapon did you get? Oh, and," he raised his voice a bit, "Does anyone have any ******** clue what we're supposed to be doing here?" Were there instructions lying about that he'd missed?

He remembered the guy before saying it was a test. But a test of what? Obviously it had something to do with hurting or killing something ... or someone. Was this like ... some sort of game?

And suddenly his phone buzzed. Wait, he had a phone? AWESOME. Pulling the thing off his belt, he checked the messages. And stood there for a moment or two, staring. Then. "WHAAAAAATTTTTTT." Only thirteen would make it off? And if there were more than that, they'd be KILLED?

"What kinda ******** up test IS this?!" he spat out, glaring at the phone. Was something going to attack them? Were they supposed to attack each OTHER? What. The. ********. ********. .... That answered the question of what they were supposed to be doing, though. As did part of the man's speech back in the classroom, which he only now remembered. Survive. Oh fun times.

[α VIII is ENTERING the Alpha Base Tent]

One of the last ones to finally wake from the "nap" that had been forced upon them, α VIII tried to gain his bearings. Raising his left hand, he noticed he was still covered in the same attire from the classroom. Gas mask still carefully and securely placed over his head. Not to mention the strange new identity he had been given: α VIII. Though he really shouldn't say it was new since he didn't remember having an identity before α VIII. Whatever the case, he had apparently woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Or perhaps he was perpetually grouchy. Whatever the case, α VIII let out a sigh and rose to his feet. Nothing like waking up in a strange place in strange cloths with a number for a name to start the day out right. Then he noticed the cellphone buzzing at his side. Wiping the grains of sand off the screen, he read the message over a few times, tracing the letters with his fingers. It wasn't that he didn't understand or couldn't comprehend the device, α VIII simply couldn't shake the odd feeling of being able to read something without knowing exactly how he knew the language. However, this strange bewilderment only lasted a few seconds since he was more than a little stunned by the message's contents.

"Fantastic... Thirteen of us huh? Why don't they just pick at random? Not like there is much variation in this lot."

Placing the cellphone back on his side, he turned to examine those around them as well as his surroundings. The bright red tent immediately stuck out as well as the others, who seemed to all be dressed in a similar manner as he was. There he noticed the three tables and their contents which everyone seemed to be partaking in. Looking over the contents of each table one by one, he first took his first aid kit and then found a bag full of supplies. Before opening his own bag to examine the contents, he looked around to see what everyone else's goodie bag held. Some seemed to be carrying sticks, a small knife, and even a girl with a gun. Now the message made a little more sense since everyone seemed to be set to defend themselves in some manner or even possibly assault others. Good to know, he thought in case he needed to smack some sense into someone. Curious to his own mysterious weapon, he hastely opened his satchel to find... bandages? Seriously? He looked it over once more to see he had come out empty handed.

"Oh, lucky me! I'd hate for anyone to sneak up on me and be forced to deal with my bandages... This is just getting better and better."

Grouchier than ever, he tried to play off his frustration by striking up a conversation with the others. Probably not the best idea to announce his weakness, but he had a hard time holding in his annoyance. Though in hind sight, more medical supplies did mean he could patch up a few more wounds. Not a bad option to have in your back pocket.

"Hello everyone. I guess I second that earlier comment about what we are supposed to do now. I am guessing that map didn't give any clear direction. I don't suppose this is anyone's second time in this situation?"

He wanted to laugh at the last question, but at this point, they needed some kind of clear plan of action.

Blah blah blah. There was talking. Seven wasn't a fan of talking. He was a fan of doing. He probably wouldn't mind doing the piece of tail that was sidling his way (that was a girl, right?! Jesus, it was hard to tell.), but that wasn't really an option while they all wore bodysuits. At least he was pretty sure it wasn't.

He was sure he'd seen a porno like that once, though.

He didn't really.. listen to anything that was said. That required special skills. Skills like.. listening. He had already forgotten half of what he'd been thinking of himself, let alone what anyone else was talking about.

"YEAH." He barked out, when 2 with the hot a** said something about being a team. Those were the only kinds of words that penetrated his thick skull.

Heh. Penetrate. Wait, what was he thinking about again?

".. Yeah." He repeated in a quieter tone. "We're a team. So let's go out there and kick some a**, and win this mother ********." He turned his mask towards the girl beside him, and nudged her gently with one arm. "We'll keep an eye out for each other. All of us."

Then he stormed off to exit the tent. He was pretty sure he had just remembered his real name, too, because he had a sudden urge to yell it!

"Let's do this. LEEEEEEEROYYYYYYYYY JENKKKIINNSSSSSSS."

As he exited, he realized that wasn't his name at all. Who the ******** was it then? The hell if he knew. Hey, trees! What the ******** is up, trees.

A12 was really embarrassed. You didn't need to see her flushed expression under the gas mask to identify her emotions, her hands flying up to her heated expression as A7 burst into an elaborate display of laughter.

Maybesheshouldnthavedonethat.

Some of the conversation escaped the A12, her hands covering her eyes as she forced herself to calm down. Laughing was good. Laughing wasn't a big deal. Their business was done in the tent, for the most part, everybody seemed to have their .. pack. Of things. useful things. Whoever set these up had good common sense.

In the middle of her thoughts, a yell disturbed it, scattering her sense of focus. It was okay, right? Those thoughts hadn't been too important. It wasn't as if A12 forgot something vitally important. As long as she had her pack.

"LEEEEEEEROYYYYYYYYY JENKKKIINNSSSSSSS."

Was he leaving? She should leave too, right? Their business seemed, assuming, done here.Clutching her pack to her chest, the female ran forward after Seven, her head turning nervously in all directions, as if fearing she might bump into someone. Or something.

"H-Hold on! I'll come too!"

Okay, Three had agreed, if conditionally; One made a note to keep an eye on the guy. It had nothing to do with thinking he was a prissy fairyman. Not much, anyway. Two was agreeing, even if she was a moron. Seven had calmed down, if somewhat, and moved over towards One, a nice show of support - annnnd he was being crude. "Hey, man," One said, pained. " Do you have to? There are ladies here."

A5 had woken up, meanwhile. He sounded cheerful enough, even if Three was giving him the cold shoulder. One guessed that that was probably pretty normal for Three. "No instructions," he said to Five," but it looks like a survival test - " But Five was checking his phone by then.

One closed his eyes briefly, stuffing his temper down. Right. He hadn't been assigned as leader or anything, even if nobody else was picking it up, and some of Alpha seemed like they'd rather go off on their own anyway. Three had a definite point where the survival rate was concerned. Admitting to himself that Three had a point made his blood pressure go up another notch, but he could recognize the truth when he heard it. Still, he'd really rather have some help with this whole frustrating business, and the people around him were the most likely to listen. Maybe. Jesus christ. Whatever, sister.

"Whatever kind of test it is," he said, opening his eyes, "we've got better chances if we cooperate. There are twelve of us, and thirteen people can survive."

A8 actually sounded like he had some kind of sense - and he'd gotten bandages instead of a weapon, apparently. "If this is my second go-round," One said dryly, "I don't remember the first time. We could - "

That was as far as he got. Seven bellowed something incomprehensible and charged out of the tent.

Urge to facepalm ... rising.

"Seven seems to have an idea, anyway," he said, as calmly as he could. "We could take a look at where we are and check out if it's defensible." He couldn't quite stifle his irritated sigh. "I'm going with him. It's probably not a good idea to wander around alone in a strange area. Anyone else who wants to come is welcome to."

Along with Twelve, he stalked out, fuming and trying hard not to show it.

[α IX is ENTERING the Alpha Base Tent]

People were talking. She rolled over and tried to ignore them, groping around halfheartedly for her blanket and giving up when she didn't find it. Five more minutes and she'd get up, five more.... someone thundered past her head loudly shouting his name. "Wha- huh?" She sat up and went to sleepily rub her eyes, bemused when her hands rubbed up against a mask? When did she put that on?

For that matter, where was she again? She scrunched her face, trying to remember but she couldn't recall anything aside from a boring classroom and some guy droning on and on and on. Now that she thought about it, she couldn't remember how she got to that classroom either. Or even her name. How weird.

She looked around at the group of people milling about in the tent, noticing that they each had numbers printed on their clothes. Hers had the number nine. That'd do for now.

Still looking around, Nine noticed that they each person was holding a bag with their number on it. Where was... ah, there it was. She picked it up and looked inside. It was a wooden stake? Nine pulled it out of the bag and curiously examined it. "Neat! Like that vampire slayer on tv! Haah!" She tried to twirl the stake and pose dramatically but only ended up dropping it. "Oopsie." She said sheepishly. Nine quickly picked up the stake and noticed that everyone was leaving the tent. "Hey!" She grabbed her bag and a medkit off the table. "Wait for me!"

A8 found himself a bit annoyed with the screaming and eccentric behavior around him. Sure, they were completely caught off from all forms of conventional help. He could see a reason to be a bit disgruntled, but did they really need to be so loud about it? Not like shouting was going to solve the situation. Not like everyone wasn't just a few feet away. Letting out another sigh, he shook his head in disagreement. Choosing to ignore the earlier antics, he simply went after A1 without hesitation. He seemed to be of a similar mindset and he made a very valid point: Nothing was going to be accomplished by standing around in a tent, especially a bright red one. A8 could only describe it as a big, bright, eyesore.

"Hah, good point.. Guess we should try to survey the area before we plan out our next move."

Following the others out of the tent, he walked quickly to catch up to A1. Birds of a feather and all.

Well, so long as Fiver there could manage not to tack on something to the end of Three's designation, he rather thought they'd get along. Possibly. If he could refrain from being intensely annoying...which was a long shot. Thus far, One had been the most...promising individual. It didn't mean, mind, that he would be exempt, when it came time to whittle down numbers, but it certainly improved his chances.

Oh. So Five had just now picked up his phone? Mmm. Another point taken away. Though he could somewhat condone the overreaction, given the circumstances. Three certainly couldn't fathom just how he might have gotten here. That was something for a later time...if he survived and earned his memories.

Eight showed even more promise. Oh, and of course he was the one to be assigned bandages. Not anything that would deal damage, certainly, but it had its uses. Three made a note to stick close to that one...he, at the very least, seemed to possess a modicum of intelligence. This team most certainly seemed to be lacking that.

"Oh grand." He muttered, as Seven left the tend in grand style. Joy and rapture, they were all going to be led into the chaos by a blathering idiot. With any luck, he'd be mowed down first. Oh, and of course Twelve was right behind him. That one...sheep...merely a follower.

Honestly, Three was starting to feel a degree of sympathy for One. He was trying to be a leader amongst a group that could kill themselves just tripping over their own feet. Well, minus three or four of them perhaps, and that was on a good day. Wrinkling his nose, rather wishing that he still had the capability to properly itch it, he moved after those who were exiting, as both One and Eight had gone to do. They were thus far proving to be the most mentally capable of the batch. Best to stick with them, whilst the brawny chap ran right into danger for them.

Oh, so they were heading out now? Good! Needed to figure out who the enemy was and all. Spotting a few others picking up First Aid Kits from the table, Fiver made sure he got one too before heading for the door of the tent.

"Hey, wait up guys!" he called, charging out after the others.

((I JUST WOKE UP AND EVERYONE'S GONE ALREADY AHHHHH ))

When her (albeit creepy) greeting went ignored by the others α X scowled. Not that they weren't themselves saying things she could reply to, but since they hadn't bothered even saying a hello back... really, why should she?

Sulking, she made her way to the back of the tent, where the map table was, and watched them talk to each other. Or.. rather, yell at each other. Or... OR WHATEVER, okay, she didn't want to think too much about it.

Pulling out her cellphone again, α X tried fiddling around with it. Not a single button worked... other than the ones that led her to her inbox, and then back to the main screen. What was with that creepy chain mail, anyway? And... considering it didn't say things like 'send to over nine thousand people within a week'... and that her phone couldn't handle that anyway.. α X felt doomed, to say the least. With a sigh, she strapped the cellphone back to her belt, and looked back up..... to an empty tent.

"G...guys?"

She blinked, looking around.

"GUYS?" What really, were the chances of them playing hide-and-seek in the tent?

No.. she didn't want to think about that.

With a wail, α X burst out of the tent (and into tears), screaming.

"WAIT FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE GUYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"
