"Ah, no, those won't do. You need something smaller for fine work like this." The plague doctor drew out a slim, narrow-gauge needle from its sleeve, along with a spool of fine suture thread. "A delicate touch is needed as well, to avoid bruising the flesh to be stitched. Bruised flesh doesn't hold nearly as well."

Christof pulled his desk chair over, motioning for the Doctor to continue. The hunchback's stitchings were sloppy at best, but he tried. It would go a lot easier of Malodore... helped him out, right? Besides, there was still so much to consider. It was a happy distraction- or at least partly. His mind was never far from the Aether.

Once seated, he patted his leg and Scruff came trotting over happily, jumping up onto his lap to give a merry lick of the patchwork's face. Christof pet and hugged the dog-like-creature, burying his face in his mane for support when he nose brushed against one of his bolts.... yes... yes that was right.

He gave the bolt a bit of a pull, but it held in firmly and the Scareon seemed to not notice. When he had been a young Igor, barely an Igor at all and more just... Patchwork, he vaguely remembered having Bolts himself. They were a key factor to this life beyond death business. But like baby teeth, they had been removed once he got to a certain age. No longer needed.

Bolts for the rabbit... would be far too small. he'd need to work out something bigger, easier to handle. His mind was whirling as, still hugging his beloved pet, he grabbed a scalpel from the table.

Scruff gave a sudden yelp, but his left arm was strong and held fast around the struggling animal as he gently cut the stitches around the bolt, just to see how it connected to the body. Were there wires? Was there more metal underneath? He needed to *know* it was vital to know!

There was a time when vivisection would have delighted the plague doctor... but that time was not now, especially not with a little canine (of sorts) on the receiving end. Malodore gave Christof a startled look. "What are you doing? Don't hurt your pet for this, per favore-"

Christof paused, still gripping the struggling pet and the knife as he blinked at Malodore in confusion before pointing with said sharp implement to the bolts poking out from Scruff's fluffy neck.

"You want the bolts?" Malodore blinked in confusion. "Why not simply obtain new ones? I assume they were used as conductors to draw the electric current down into the body and jump-start the nervous system and heart, yes? Any such should do, if properly implanted."

Cheered up a bit, he let Scruff go with only mild cuts he'd have to stitch up later and rushed to his desk for a fresh piece of paper.

Had bolts when small. Removed at young age. Don't remember how they connect. Do you know?

It would certainly save a few hypothetical steps he had been speculating. And Scruff would appreciate the knowledge as well. After handing the fresh note to the Doctor, he turned to the blueprints once more before pointing to the odd hat he had drawn over the rabbit, before then pointing to the word small in regards to the Lepuses he had already written on the table.

"Mmm. I have not had experience with them, myself, but the scientific principles should be easy enough to grasp. Riley may know." It studied the diagram carefully. "A bowl shape to cover the entire brain and deliver the full shock at once? It would avoid potential differences in conductivity between the varied fleshes."

He nodded enthusiastically, reaching for the lepus skull to draw a few marks across it's cleaned surface where he hoped the best insertions would be to connect the helmet. It would need to be strategic, so the bulk of the jolt would go to the right places... but which were those? He rubbed his chin with what he thought was the back of the pen, leaving a trail of black mark.

"The brain and spinal cord are critical." Malodore tapped the table with one claw. "Do you already have them on hand? I would preserve them, if possible; it will make reanimation easier. Or simply wait until all else is ready and install a system as fresh as you can possibly make it. Preferably, a kill and immediate transfer... that should make it more responsive, though also require a more delicate touch..."

Hmm. It was quite the interesting conundrum.

Have some. Special preservatives I use for my parts, Christof quickly scribbled out on his paper, But if fresh is best, that can be done. Can you help finish this bit? He glanced up at the doctor anxiously. Need to design helmet. Then we can take it to- His writing stopped, his stomach clenching.

He still hadn't been to see him.

"Both could be tested - perhaps a fresh for the first start, and if that fails, the preserved." Malodore studied the parts. "But of course. It is a most interesting project. Good practice for putting together Amrita's future body as well, yes?"

The plague doctor was eager enough that it didn't notice Christof's discomfiture.

Christof stared at him blankly for a moment, mind trying to digest what the plague doctor was saying.

Yes.... yes it would be good practice for... that's right. His eyes slowly moved to the coolers he had stored her parts in. That's right. They were.... that was, if Miss Amrita still wanted to do it.

He hadn't spoken to her in a long time. He didn't even know if she had received his gift or not.

Yet another complicated person his brain couldn't wrap around. Another social disaster among many. He sagged a bit, rubbing the back of his head before stiffly nodding.

Let it think that was what it was for. Of course. If it really knew his intent... it would probably call him stupid for trying.

Malodore nodded, completely missing the patchwork's discomfiture. "It would be my honor to assist," it said, poring over the notes again, glancing from notes to parts to notes again. "Dexterity is my strong suit, fortunately... I could use the practice on smaller stitches, if you are looking for help with the assembly."

He nodded enthusiastically before tapping his skull and motioning to the severed Lepus head he had pealed open, motioning out with palms down in what he hoped was a "Just leave this bit open please" sort of gesture. That would certainly help speed things along! He made a pleased, excited sort of noise in his throat, beaming at the plague doctor. Yes yes yes! That would give him time to develop the devices they'd need. Plenty to keep himself occupied, that was for sure.

On the table, he scrawled out, How soon can be completed?

That would tell him how much time he had to prepare. The lepus was small, but he had total confident in the Doctor's abilities.

"Hmm. You want to use these parts? I would suggest gathering enough for multiple complete bodies. No sense in having only one subject." The plague doctor prodded a small, fuzzy thigh. "How functional should the internal organs be?"
