"...for drinks, or for senshi?" He raised an eyebrow, attention twitching back onto her, hands shoved into his pockets -- and then prowled the edges of the building again, just to make sure there was no sign of Chaonis lurking in the shadows somewhere, waiting for unsuspecting library employees to step out.
His resolve, though, was wavering a little. Drinks sounded like a good idea, and chasing down someone who'd already beaten the crap out of him once sounded like a very bad one. He made a noise, his pacing drawing to a halt. "That could work."

"Why not both?" She said with a shrug, as she peered down the edge of another part of the building too. "Could always grab a drink, and then look for senshi? Or visa versa... or start to look and if we turn up nothing, grab a drink...zap some energy... and then the night would not be so wasteful?" Zink would not be able to dispute that, after all senshi were not sometimes easy to find when looking for them. No... they tended to find you.
Fayalite was already looking towards the direction of the shadey area of town. Many a time she had gotten there from the roof tops, so she knew what indicators to look for at this height that would lead them there. "Well, we dont want to wait around here all day... sitting in one spot never finds the prey." She said with a nod, before leaping over to another flat roof top. Looking around, she gave ever a look that plainly said 'well? coming?'

Faya was obviously used to longtime nega agents; the careless comfort in their own power, the reckless disregard for their own safety, the cocky self-certainty, the pride and the ego. Ilmenite hadn't had time to cultivate these things yet, so when she lept he winced, and when she tossed him that teasing look he just stared back, incredulous.
He didn't leap. And, essentially, this was what all his problems with the new position boiled down to: a refusal to leap in, thinking too hard and clinging too much to the person he'd been before.
"You're crazy." Instead he just stood near the edge of the roof and gaped at her. "There's no <******** way I am doing that."

She said with an eyebrow quirk at his caution, she HAD forgotten he was so new... but didn't he know in uniform they could jump higher, and further, without hurting themselves?" Its just a small jump! If you want to be a chicken s**t, ill even tack on that i will CATCH you if you somehow epic fail and miss."
A pause.
"....Were you ever told that in uniform, you have higher stamina... and leaping abilities?"

"Yeah, and getting punched in the face doesn't hurt half as much either, but it still hurts. And I assume if I miss, I'll still plummet to my death on the pavement below." In demonstration, he tipped his head out and then pointed down to the ground, prowling sideways to get a good look.
"Well, no, actually, I might catch on that balcony and just break a few dozen bones, instead." This was lower, ground out, wincing as he thought about it. And wishing, very much, that he hadn't said it.

"...." She said with a sigh and crossing her arms over her chest. "Dont MAKE me come over there, grab you, and haul you across the roof tops. The whole city as my witness, i will."
"...Besides, trust me when i say i HAVE falling from this height before, three stories wow, in uniform.. and only sprained an ankle. Ilmenite, you really need to push your boundaries a little. How ELSE will you know your limits?" ...Besides, what do you think eating energy is for? Its for us dumb ******** who mess up and need some quick healing."
"....You wont fall, ok? If anything you might land a bit awkward on this roof because you are not used to the jumping."

His mouth opened to protest again -- and Ilmenite clamped it closed again, prowling sideways on the roof and shooting quick looks around for more obstacles. It still seemed like a terrible idea to him, and it almost certainly always would but...well, she had a point, too.
"...if I fall, then you best get me some energy to eat." He didn't want to dip into his own harvest again so soon. Especially not if they got into trouble with Chaonis. At least he took a few steps back as he said it, preparing for the leap.
"And fast."

"I will personally leap into a buildng, superman style, steal energy or HELL even a star seed..those give you a rush, and be your knight in shining armor." She said drolly, an eyebrow quirked. She wondered if she would have to start tapping her foot. "The senshi might be in the red light district as we speak."
"...SO frickin jump already!"

Her reply actually broke through his jittery nerves, through his discomfort in this clothing, and finally got an appropriately Ever-style grin out of it, surprised. This [and his battle with Vin] were so far the highlights of his Negaverse experience.
so fine. She was daring him. He'd finally cave in. He took six running steps and then jumped -- and no, he need not have worried at all about missing the near end of the roof. It was the far end that proved to be a problem. Ilmenite had launched himself into the jump with a little bit too much force, and the result was a vault right over her head.
He landed poorly, and ended up skidding a few steps, running, losing his balance, and coming dangerously close to going off the far side of the roof.

"s**t!" She said, running after him and grappling at the back of his jacket. "You a** i said jump not POLE vault!" She said yanking him back just in case, she did not want to have to explain how Ilmenite belly flopped on the pavement below.
That would have been one HELL of a wipe out.
"....See? Not so bad. Just.... dont put too much power behind it or we might be jumping to every -other- building. "

She tugged on the back of his jacket and he immediately went limp into it, letting her pull him back -- so that he could cling to her, arms all but wrapped around her head, so he wouldn't go careening off the edge. His breath came short, heart hammering, and it was going to take a moment for that to settle down.
Knowing objectively that he'd survive a fall didn't quell instinctive panic.
"Um. Yes."

"EWUFGUERUER!!!11!!!??!!?!" She screamed into his chest as he wrapped his arms around her head. The HELL was wrong with this man! ink sure knew how to pick and choose them!
"AANTTTT BREEEEPPHHH" Roughly translated to 'cant breath' but she was pretty sure he couldnt make out the words, so... she did what came naturally to her.
She punched him in the gut.

It got him to let go, at least, sucking for air and curling arms around his stomach and really wincing more than he should have for one simple blow. Being in uniform took away some of the pain, but he was still recovering, damnit, and that hurt.
For a count of twenty he was silent. Then he sucked in a breath and straightened again, still shaky but recovering, his eyes flitting around the roof and to the buildings nearby. "...okay. I'm okay."

Once the grip was released, a deep breath of air was sent into her lungs to re-inflate them. "You KNOW, you CAN still suffocate me while in uniform, you giant!" She mumbled angrily staring back at him.
...And now she was just feeling a wee bit vindictive.
"Ready to try the next roof? Its a little further away than the last." She was under estimating, the next roof was a GOOD distance further away.

He was still jittery, his fingers shaking, his shoulders tense and his knees a little jelly...but now that he knew he could do it, he bobbed his head in a nod. Even if he also made a small sound in the back of his throat, something that some people might have called a whine. It was going to take Ilmenite a while to get used to this.
Once she took off, though, he'd follow: stumbling and landing awkwardly on the first four or five roofs, and only then starting to pick it up. He wasn't athletic. He'd never be great at this. He'd never land silently on his toes and fingertips, he'd always clatter around like a great bear. But at least he wouldn't fall off, right?
