"Faa! Fieu!" The Flareon brushed against Rosie's hand, waving his tail. It had been ages since he'd been able to meet someone new!

"Yeah, that makes sense..." Luke replied, glancing in the direction of the harbor. "Ferry's come in over that way, huh?" It was a pitiful attempt to show that he knew something about something, but it was something he knew nonetheless.

Agh, what? She really was taunting him, wasn't she? Get ice cream, let it melt most of the way, then offer it second-hand like... like... she pitied him or something. He was hungry, not shameless! He managed to tone down his physical recoil to only a slight grimace before he replied in a mostly-polite manner, "Nah, just toss it to Mieu. He'll eat anything." Another aversion of his eyes. He had more pride than that.

"yeah, its a nice set up, becasue this aria leads to a lot of shopping, hotels and restaurants, so tired travelers don't have to wander to far to find some rest after getting off the boat." she explained, glancing around the aira.

When he told her to give the ice cream to Mieu, she wasn't at all surprised, but she wouldn't want to go giving it to a pokemon that she didn't own without asking. She did catch the little grimace though, aware she might have just done something he probably considered weird.
lowering the ice cream down for Mieu to take, smiling weakly. "Here you go Mieu, its still good."
It was still mostly un-melted, she hadn't gotten it that long ago, or she could have a bigger mess on her hand than a few drops.

"Is there anywhere you would like to go? I can show you to the pokemon center that we have here, any shops if you need supplies. I also know some good hotels to stay at, or places to eat, get something to drink" she offered, while lifting her hand up to her lips, licking the sticky sweet drop off.

"Huh... Sounds convenient." Seemed this Kodo place was a fairly large port city... Or was it Camphoreon? She'd said both at the same time, so it was hard to keep them straight. He probably should have found a map or something on arriving, but that was just another mistake he wasn't going to admit to making.

Mieu, largely unaware of the conversation, was perfectly content with the ice cream regardless of its state of solidity and happily began to enjoy the treat. The Flareon substituted a proper thank you with an enthusiastic grin and made short work of the cone and its contents, licking at his mouth after to clean away any of the residue.

The pokemon center was of little interest, supplies were probably a good idea, hotels even better, food! Bingo! It was like playing a game of Hot and Cold. But it remained all-important to maintain dignity, and so Luke merely shrugged. "I need a place to stay tonight, so I guess hotels would be useful, and I'll need to eat eventually too..." Hopefully 'eventually' didn't indicate a time too far into the future. "And I guess it'd be good to know about the pokemon center for Mieu... Those pretty much sound like the basics. Do they pay you to do this or something?" It was a shoddy joke, but if it helped to conceal his mounting eagerness then it was worth it.

Rosie certainly took it in good humor, and a genuine laugh followed his question,
Gosh... She did get this comment a lot though, was it really that unusual for other people to help one another out?
"Don't worry, I don't expect you to pay me for the tour. Just think of it as a 'thank you' for letting me play with Mieu"
If she had to think of a reason she was doing this, other then that fact that it was in her nature to help, that would be it.

She was growing a little more concerned, mostly with his behavior, though it was a little odd... he rarely looked at her, and taken the way it usually would, this would mean that he was annoyed with her, recently she had become aware of this in this new feeling of insecurity. Yet... he still spoke to her, like any person would, he didn't sound mean, or rude in his tone, it was more like he was trying to act this way... but wasn't really.
... somehow that made sense in her mind.

"I know of a good hotel, thats decently priced. its got a lot around it to. so you don't have to walk far to find the center, or a chain of shops and food, so its less likely to get lost or turned around."
The real reason she knew of it so well was becasue those were what her Uncle had looked for when they had to find a hotel to stay in.
The one she had suggested, was in fact the one she was staying at with her family.

Looking down at Miue once more, and giving the precious cutie another smile before she folded her hands behind her back over the bow, and took a few strides forward to lead them toward the hotel.

Had she any idea that he was hungry, she would have stopped at the nearest place to eat. But for now, she went with the first thing he had brought up, a place to stay.
"So what brings you to Kodo Luke?" she asked as she walked.

Laughter was infections, and Rosie's laugh brought a smirk to Luke's face as well. It seemed that she really was feeling better, or was at least extremely good at hiding it... Wait, no, he didn't care either way. Not one bit. With this internal reminder, he cleared his throat and let the grin fall away.

"I'm not really familiar with hotels, so I'll guess I'll just go with whatever you recommend," he admitted with an apathetic shrug, casually following when she began to move with an excited Flareon bounding along at their heels. Mieu's step took on an excited prance, his teal fur practically bristling with anticipation to see more of this strange and different place.

"Hmm..." The question was unexpected and a bit difficult to answer without getting into some lengthy story that would just make him angry to recount. "It's kind of complicated," he compromised, running a hand through his red hair with a sigh. "I guess the short version is that I needed a vacation." Lucky him that he'd wound up in a tourist city instead of some dirty little ghost town full of bums or something. Ugh.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 6:10 pm

She glanced sideways at him, easily catching that there was more to his story than he was sharing, not that she thought he was lying or anything.
She was curious, and wouldn't mind hearing the whole story, but that did seem like it could be a very personal question, she didn't want to pry when she just barely learned the young man's name,

She accepted the answer as it was, offering him a quiet smile "I see, vacations are always so nice, to get away for a while, see someplace new. How long are you going to be staying here?"

Kodo was not as big of a region as the others were, so they were not as idea of a vacation spot as some other islands.
"I see a lot of people coming here to get a chance to see someplace new, We don't get to many high level trainers here, Kodo isn't as Pokemon centric here as they are in Johto or Kanto, probably due to the fact that we don't have a gym chalange set up in our island, and other than a few pokemon centers and rest houses, the league doesn't have much of a presense here either"

From what she could tell, he only had one Pokemon, unless he was holding more pokeballs under his jacket or in his pockets.
"Kodo is prosperous in its own way though, and its very beautiful here, so while you visit I hope you get to enjoy the sights, especially now that spring had come."
As she gave a little explanation about Kodo, and Camphoreon city, she continued to smile, she very much loved her home region.

Her step was light, and quick, practically skipping every now and than as she lead the red haired man down the streets, to a tall building tucked off by a large park.
She paused, spinning to face him once again "Luke Fon Fabre" she addressed him in a good natured tone, holding a hand out to gesture at the hotel. "This is a wonderful place to stay at"

There were several food places set up in this aria, an authentic Italian restaurant, a Cafe shop, as well as hotdog stands set up outside the park just across the street. the small of the cooking food wafted around the warm air in this aria.

Now that was an easy question, and he tucked his hands into his pockets with a flippant smirk as he replied, "As long as humanly possible, if I have anything to say about it. I've got no plans to go back any time soon." No, they'd have to hunt him down, subdue him, and drag back his unconscious body if they wanted to put him in that house again. It might have been not-scary-at-all-no-really to be in a completely unfamiliar land with completely unfamiliar customs, but least there was something new to see every time he turned around.

"Well, that suits me fine," he said with a shrug. "I've never really been that interested in battling anyway. Seems like a waste of energy." Or rather, he wasn't that interested in losing battles. Not that he doubted his abilities or anything, but what if the opponent cheated out of desperation after being near thoroughly trounced by his fantastic battling skills? That was always a concern, of course.

He hummed with a mild interest as she praised Kodo and the city. It was kind of weird hearing someone talk like that... He'd heard similar incidents of patriotism in the past but had always blown them off as forced efforts to get him to stop sulking. Rosie, however, seemed genuine in her words, and it was... strange.

When she spoke again, the use of his full name took him somewhat by surprise. Damn, he'd already forgotten her last name... What was it? Owell, Ewan... Something with an E in it. Close enough. Oh, but she was showing him the hotel, and that was more important. Though perhaps not as important as various scents that filled the air. Arceus, it all smelled so delicious. "Cool, thanks--" The remainder of his statement was cut short by a loud complaint from his stomach, and the only thing he could do to cover it was to clear his throat. Loudly. Even Mieu could tell that his tactic wasn't very effective, glancing up at his master with a flick of his ear and a questioning "faaa?"

She had heard someone say that before, coming to Kodo, and not having plans on leaving anytime soon. this seemed to be the place to get away, though the way he worded it, it sounded like this "vacation getaway" emphasized the "Getaway"

Hands moving to the front of her dress, where she laced her fingers together,
"I'm not really into battling much myself..." Her voice became a little tentative as she spoke about this.
Becoming aware of the weight of her pokemon balls on her bow ribbon, they become much heavier, like her heart did.
"Or... I"
She kept her eyes down, hesitant to say anything. blue eyes finding the teal Flareon, as she watched him for a few moments.
It seemed so much scarier now... battles, now that she had been in one she knew she couldn't win...

Trying to shake herself out of it, getting ready to go in and see about letting him get a hotel room, what a familiar and insistent grumble came from right about where Luke was standing.
She looked up at him with her eyebrows arching, in time to see him try and cover it up with a caught, probably embarrassed.
She tried not to giggle, not wanting to embarrass him further.
"Maybe its time to take a break, and get something to eat. Those ferry rides can be pretty long."

Luke regarded the girl with a raised eyebrow. Her whole demeanor really changed in an instant, and it seemed the subject of battling was the cause. He wasn't fond of it himself, but not to the point that he got depressed over it or anything. Part of him sought to ask her to complete her thoughts, thinking that perhaps he owed her as much as a listening ear if she was bothered by something in exchange for her help... But then, the tour was payment for playing with Mieu. She said so herself. Besides she was pretty much a stranger anyway. She'd probably be weirded it out if he suddenly started worrying over her or something.

Not like he was worrying anyway. What a stupid thought.

The phrase 'something to eat' refocused his attention immediately, and he visibly perked up at the thought before subduing his enthusiasm. He crossed his arms and once more turned his gaze elsewhere. "O-oh, sure. I mean, if you're hungry, I guess that's fine." Subtlety.

A soft giggle followed by a confirmed nod, and Rosie took a step backwards. "I could use something to eat, sure."
This wasn't completely honest, though, she hadn't eaten much of anything for the past couple of days, maybe she should just try to eat something.

She knew better, he was definitely hungry, but being the scapegoat on who's idea it was to get food wasn't that much of a problem for her though.
"Pizza sound good? I know a place close by."
She was a teenager! She wasn't immune to the lure of junk food! Even if they were high quality junk foods.
"Its a pokemon friendly place to, so Mieu will feel comfortable" she smiled down at the Flareon.
Gesturing for them to follow she turns and hurried down the side walk.

"Uh, sure, I guess..." His most recent memory of pizza was during a spell of boycotting the meals prepared for him and attempting to cook what he wanted when he wanted, and so Luke's nearest association to pizza was the smell of burning cheese. Hopefully whatever place Rosie was recommending wasn't full of incompetent idiots who couldn't prepare a pizza without burning it.

Mieu responded to the smile with a cooing "fieuu!" before turning a brief circle around his master to encourage him to follow. The boy responded in kind, though not before giving the Flareon a rough nudge with his foot in an attempt to get it to calm down.

"Uh, by the way, is battling something that... I mean..." He ran a hand through his hair awkwardly. It really was bothering him after all. He wasn't worried, he was just so curious that it was starting to irritate him. Besides, saying something was better than walking in silence, right? Of course. All valid reasons to ask.

Not getting to far ahead before she slowed down and waited for them to catch up,
Taking up a spot next to him and Mieu so she could walk with them to the restaurant she had mentioned to them.
Enjoying watching the Flareon as he trotted along with them, all that fur was so pretty, and it flowed so nicely when he walked.
She kinda watched to brush it...
She loved Vahy'n more than anything in the world, but Vahy'n had no fur to play with.

As he spoke again, She looked over at Luke, tilting her head forward a little, as if to catch eye contact.
She was so used to looking at people when holding a conversation, not that it bothered her, she was just curious why.
"Battling pokemon?" She asked after a long pause in the middle of his sentence.

Mieu's fur likely could have used a good brushing. It wasn't a job that Luke generally took upon himself, so the Flareon's last good grooming was a while passed. Though Mieu didn't mind being a little bit tangled, he quietly hoped that his master took note before his fur started to get matted...

"Well, yeah," he ceded with a shrug. "Just, when you mentioned it earlier, you kind of..." Kind of what? Kind of looked sad? Kind of worried him? Kind of looked like she need to say something? "Never mind, it's none of my business anyway." Irritating.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 9:27 pm

"Oh..." She understood now, tilting her head back down, watching the sidewalk again as they walked,
"I did mention that earlier..."
She wasn't surprised, she had not finished her thought earlier about battling, that must have confused him.
"For a long time, I've been really wanting to do coordination contests." She explained, a soft smile feathering the corners of her lips.
She knew she probably didn't have to talk about this, she didn't want to just blow him off.
"I have the perfect team for something like that to... its just... Coordination doesn't leave a lot to the strength of the team, mostly on how you present things, and what kind of performance you can put on to impress people. I never thought that not being good at pokemon battles would be dangerous..."

Blinking furiously a few times with a sharp shake of her head, she held a hand up and forced a smile on her face. "You wouldn't think that though, everyone always says you don't need to battle pokemon, right? Even at school, they push pokemon science."

Luke was... somewhat familiar with the concept of coordinators. He'd overhear mention of it from time to time, and sometimes he would catch pieces of contests on television. He didn't quite understand the appeal of the things, but that didn't seem to be the point Rosie was trying to make, so he brushed it off with a mental shrug. Her following words, though, caused him to furrow his brow in confusion. "Dangerous? What's dangerous about it?" People just challenged each other for fun, right? It was like sparring or competing...

He spared a glance at the Flareon walking at his side, a distinctly thoughtful perplexity on his face. They didn't really battle much at all, only doing so when others insisted to the point that Luke gave in and agreed to the match. It had never seemed like it would cause trouble to live that way... He returned his attention to Rosie, hoping for a substantial explanation.
