Aryon grinned nervously at Ellette's description of the person leading the venture they were about to go on. It sounded like a kalona and he had never met one...spending most of his time on his own after leaving his family. He'd heard of them and seen them from a distance, but never actually spoken to one.
Hopefully this would be an uneventful trip, he thought to himself. Either way, it sounded fun he supposed.
"I resent that remark..." he mumbled when she poked fun at his wits, "I don't need someone else to help me, I feel fine."
He puffed his chest up as if to prove it but winced as his head throbbed at that moment. Okay, not fine, he admitted to himself.
Aryon blushed in embarrassment hoping she hadn't caught that...but he smiled at her a moment later, grateful for her pledge of help. It meant a lot to him. She had quickly become his best (and only really) friend.

Ellette gazed at him knowingly out of the corners of her eyes, the corners of her mouth trembling as she tried to contain her amusement.
"You are going to the doctor Aryon. Whether you like it or not, I'll knock you over the head a second time if I have to and carry you there myself if need be."
....It would be unkind to laugh, she tried to pretend she didn't notice the wince, but lost her self control after a few moments of strained silence.
"Oh Ary," she gasped between bouts of uncharacteristic giggles, "I-I'm so sorry, I don't mean to laugh!" She laughed for a full five minutes, her curls bouncing and sides shaking, until tears began streaming down her cheeks and her giggles turned to sobs. Turning away from Ary, she fled into the gathering darkness outside of the cave.
Lioth alighted on the rock next to Ary and tilted his head as he stared out after her, "I think Ellette may have lost it." he observed soberly.

He watched in bewilderment as Ellette laughed so hard she was crying. Aryon wasn't sure what she was laughing at, his wince had been worth a chuckle, maybe. This was full blown hilarity for no apparent reason. He wondered if she had hit her head too.
Aryon was about to ask if she was okay, maybe check her temperature or something, when she switched from laughing so hard she was crying to actually hysterically crying. He felt panic well up as he debated what to do, but before he could decide she was gone.
He looked over to Lioth and could only nod in bewildered agreement. What on earth had that been about?
