You bring fair enough points into the conversation and i agree that roran has no political background, but Id rather see a man of the people, like the first king if i remember correctly was, inherit the throne.
As for a dwarf becoming the rider. This would make me happy to no end. Dwarfs being my favorite race, followed by urgals then humans and in the end there are those elven things. But I also see this as highly unlikely due to the fact that. In history they were never friends, in modern time they were never friends, to add them in is especially difficult magic that would take the knowledge and magic of eragon, Elven queen, angela, and some other characters before there could even be a chance of reformatting the ancient magic.
I see your point about him dying and such, but I think if it was written right it could be ok. Murtagh could die, I think that would be correctly. He could have the change of nature, then sacrifice himself. As long as the final battle is well written I should be ok. I wasn't a fan of the last battle in Brisinger. I felt like the killing of the shade wasn't well thought out and was very rushed. though the Oromis thing was most excellent.
I think it would be funny for a lesser character to become the last rider. Nasuada, Elva, an Urgal, Eragons training partner from the eldest.

(going with a size 10 izzy. deal with it.)
My father actually pre-ordered it yesterday. Hardcover, of course, because all of them are hardcovers and it would be a crying shame to break the trend we've set. And finally with the green.

Oh please Minae. I have good eyesight. razz
I can't preorder it. I WON'T BE IN THE COUNTRY WHEN IT COMES OUT WHAT ON EARTH?! Maybe that's a good thing though. We seem to always get things late here. :S
It saddens me now that I don't have Brisingr in hardcover but hardcover ones are so hard to find here. Or they were, anyway. There weren't any hardcover Brisingr's at all until the deluxe edition. And with Eldest? I paid double and it was the only hardcover copy they had.
