I was introduced to the series by a friend who had been traveling. The series was not yet popular eek in the United States, my country, so I am proud to say I am one of the earliest American Harry Potter fans.
As an avid reader I began reading it aloud for my younger brother on a canoeing trip up in New York, and within a few days my younger brother and twin cousins were hooked as well. Within two weeks there were four new devoted Harry Potter fans! cool

iluvdraco (hi i'm new) um, i remember that when harry potter first came out, everyone was getting into it except for me. i was all like, "oh, i probably won't like it" then i read it and i loved it! recently, i have reread the books and watched the movies multiple times and i am now officially OBSESSED! heart heart heart The fact that it is just cool

I find witchcraft fasinating and I saw the book and fell in love.
Also my friend told me about Ron and Malfoy they sounded soo cool!!

It was my dad who got me into Harry Potter. Now me, my mom, and my dad all read the books. My brother likes to watch the movies but he's in denial.

After reading the first book when it came out I just couldn't get into the series afterwards. I became an avid Harry Potter hater until one day a friend in eigth grade was reading the fourth book on the tapes we had in class when I decieded to pick up where i left off and read CoS. It was a lot more interesting than the first one so I read the third one and was hooked. I was borrowing the books from my aunt and had to read the fourth one. So i walked 4 miles to the nearest Borders ( i was living in a city) just to buy it. The rest is just heavenly. heart heart

no really... not at first at least... though I did like him a lot in the books but I only fell in love with him after the fourth movie... erm I kinda mean I fell in love with alan rickman who of course play our dearly beloved sevvy, but in a way they're so different...and I kinda like alan better... but shhhhh, don't tell sevvy!! 4laugh

Well for me:
There was a really horrible ice storm and most of the power was off all over town and the towns around us. We had the fireplace going to keep warm, so I thought "wow this would be a great time to read a book." I started reading the first one wich took me a while to get into, but once I did.....MAN I was stuck to it! I read the next two books the following two days. I have loved them since!

Sad to say Harry Potter is the only good thing I got out of my Ex.... I didn't really care about etheir way. Then I saw the movie with him. after the movie is went home and found my first book that my mom got me but I never read. Now I drive my friends crazy at the movies. " Wrong wrong wrong not how it happend in the book! He shouldn't look like that! WHat are they trying to do to Hermione?! Where's my Winky! etc... etc...."

I got into HP when I was about 7, my friend/babysitter was reading book 1 for school and read some of it out loud to us. I got the book for christmas, took six months to actually START reading it...But when I was done I got hooked....
