Oh thank goodness. Some relief. Repo strained himself to look around the room. No one? Blessed saints, he'd been left alone! He fell back into the bed, unable to feel the pain through the drugs, but certain that that much movement should have hurt, and called back, "Aye! Safe as can be, 'less one of those nasty nurse-lasses comes back t'hassle me again!"

Max's eager mood was a nice change of pace for Repo. All day it'd just been somber doctors and harried staff. Their presence had made him feel like they expected him to drop dead at any moment, and frankly it was unsettling. Max seemed in much better mood. No more blubbering. Big baby. Still, if only for Max' sake, he was glad he hadn't died through some tragic accident of surgery.

"Search me. T'tell th' truth, after this I canna imagine ever thinkin' of a nurse as annathin' but a vulture. Lurkin' abou' like ye'r t'drop dead any moment." He glanced around quickly. If any of those biddies had overheard him, he'd be in for it. So far he'd escaped their wrath but...for how long, who knew.

He eyed the books with pleasure--he'd become an avid reader since being hospitalized. Those would be hard to hold up but...well, he wouldn't be totally out of shape after being bedridden. The food he snatched up in a moment, stuffing it under the blanket down by his waist. "Deine brought me food las' night. The nurses didn' take it well. Donno who told her it was a good idea t'mix pasta an' cake...suffice t'say I'm starvin'! Y'did right, Max." A saline drip might keep him healthy, but it didn't fill an empty belly.

Repo snorted. "What'd y'think I was plannin' on? Stabbin' m'self in th'eye?" He chided Max. He almost laughed, but the feel of it coming on ached. He settled for smirking. With minimal movement he retrieved one of the wrapped pastries and struggled to open it. Damn crinkly wrapper, it'd be a dead give away that he was eating something the nurses hadn't picked for him. But infirmary food was little better than mash. Mashed what, no one would say, either.

"So. Heard anythin' abou' anyone else gettin'...well their arse handed to 'em by tha' bloody hedgehog?" He sighed, happy to let Max talk for a turn. He certainly could do it better now, but it still winded him after a bit. He hoped no one else had been hurt. Frankly it was no fun.

Repo felt ridiculous handing over the snack to be opened. He was a grown man, he should be able to defeat a small plastic wrapper. He took it back with a mumbled thanks, and stuffed the pastry into his mouth. Blessed blessed food.

"Really well, eh? Tell tha' t'my back. Bruised form neck t'tail...but tha's good. Last I saw b'fore everything got hazy was Laidir gettin' tossed from th' top o' tha' Ariados into th' ball, an' tha' got knocked inna one of th' grunt's hands...I wasn' sure we kept it though. After tha' bloody hedgehog flared..." He shrugged. "Was all I could do t'keep m'self breathin'."
