What he was considering next as he thought on how best to reassure her was a new idea for him. Usually in the Firekin disputes were settled with duels, though words had become more common place than might have been expected, especially in his family. Yet still... Charging in and knocking heads wouldn't get him very far. Mwali loathed the mindset that brute force alone would solve all of one's problems, so he held himself to that same standard.
Then I will travel ahead to speak to your Sultan and Atash.
He refused to hand her over. All his life he had worked to improve, become stronger, first to make his parents proud and then to serve the pride. He'd left home seeking.... seeking something, seeking her, this young lioness so far from both of their homes. He was going to allow himself to be selfish in this. There was not a chance in the world that he was going to hand her over to anyone else. His large frame was almost a quiver with anger at the idea of another male trying to touch her now. He didn't need terms like banu or beybanu, certainly not kajira. No, all he needed, all anyone needed to know was that she was HIS.
I will make them see reason.

Mwali's certainty was reassuring, some how in the end he would make things right for them. Shiva believed that and had faith in him, despite whatever doubts she might have had about herself. He was the one she had risked her life and home and family to find. Apparently the old saying was true; fortune favors the bold. Not even soft, old Aali--royalty though he was within the Ukuucha--could compare with the treasure she had stumbled onto in this foreboding land.
Content to nuzzle closer as she tugged on a tuft of his vibrant mane. Unable to help the affection that filled her voice, awed and inspired by him. I admit.. I'm afraid to go back there even though it's the only home I've ever known and the only one I ever want to know, but I've seen you do the impossible, Mwali.. I know that you're capable of anything, so please.. don't let them take me away from you.

He allowed himself to push thoughts of it aside for the time being. They had just finally found one another properly, he fully intended to savor it for the moment. It was hard to focus on the impending task, besides, while she was invoking such feelings of protectiveness and possessiveness.
He brought his muzzle close to her ear and shut his eyes, inclining his head lightly against hers with a simple promise. No one will ever take you away from me, on my life I'll swear it.
