People have contradictory feelings about things, and that's all there is to it really. I could go on about upbringing and social brainwashing, but what it all really comes down to is the psychological dichotomy that people live with that allows them to do one thing and think another. Like a mother who knows that smoking is bad for her and her kids' health but continues to do it. I think most people who commit a crime or do something distasteful know that it's wrong or that they don't really want to do it, but they do it anyway for reasons maybe even they don't understand. I think most of social behavior is made up of stuff like that, with people constantly trying to explain why they do crap. As for kissing and sex? Sometimes you simply enjoy something even though you think it's gross. Most food looks pretty gross if you really think about it, but I'm not gonna stop eating.
