Bad’s mouth twitched, but she refrained from responding to his lecture on fairness. She had heard this before: life isn’t fair, no use complaining. She accepted that from the mouths of lions that had seen more, but the point wasn’t achieving a fair world or complaining. The first was impossible and the second was as useless as crying. The point was…. Something about the challenge, something about taking on a battle lost long ago, but she hadn’t yet figure out how to explain it, so she held her tongue.

Bad gave out a sigh and some of the tension eased from her shoulders as if she simply couldn’t keep up with holding onto it all at once anymore. “No, I won’t want my mother or anyone knowing. Thank you…” She was quiet for a moment before sitting herself down. She was still troubled – that much was obvious – but she was willing to struggle for patience. “I’ve already thought a little about how to handle it, but if you have any useful ideas it could be helpful…”

Through a few minutes conversing, Badiah discovered most of Mirsajadi’s hints were common sense. In fact she was probably going to have an easier time keeping a secret than he. That fact he had managed to, despite the disadvantage, was something of a relief to Bad, and after getting the gist of things she said her farewells and pushed out a wry sort of smile before turning and heading back to the den. She wanted the distraction of her siblings most of all at the moment.
