She shook her head at the question about Tokyo. It wouldn't really help her at all, either, because it was going to be hard enough with figuring out what the hell was going on in her own hometown without having to decipher Japanese newspapers. Sure, she could read in hiragana and have a rudimentary understanding of what exactly was going on--a result of her ill-spent adolescence, if she was ever asked--but she just needed all the time she had for Destiny City.
Really. It needed to stop, all of this.
"No," she said. "A lot of the articles reference Destiny City's sudden spike in gang activity. That's all they think it is, like I said. Gang activity. Animal attacks, too. Nobody's mentioning weird spacemonaut people with special crystals, you know?"
Tate shook her head, and spun a bit in her beat-up desk chair. "The only way a Tokyo-Destiny City connection would explain anything was if it was some kind of... disease... or there was a sudden influx of Japanese citizens..." The brunette wasn't thinking too hard about it, but she did scribble down a note to check that out. Probably nothing would pan out with it, but she had to give it the old college try, didn't she?
For a moment, she thought wistfully of Giselle. What she wouldn't do for her old friend back!

Tallulah shook her head, "I already looked. Destiny City's actually got a pretty small Japanese population, and there hasn't been an immigration spike or anything."
She shrugged. This visit had been nice, but it was tempting to head home. She'd been out long enough, and she'd kill for a shower and a change of clothes. "Anyways, if we've managed to find all this out and we're... what, not even involved?" If Tate could believe such a bold-faced lie. It hurt Tallulah just to tell it, but she had to keep up appearances. She was already letting her in on more than she should have, really.
"If we know this much, maybe people are just willfully ignorant."
Another shrug. Some people would believe anything if it helped them sleep at night. That was how right wing conspiracies like creationism happened.
"I should get going," she added awkwardly.

Tate nodded. Well, scratch that off her list. Or not--she didn't like Cowden, not really, even if she was proving to be pretty useful. She could double-check the information. Census information could be found easier than compiling ten notebooks of police beat notes, couldn't it?
Definitely.
"Alright," she said, turning back to her computer. "You can see yourself out, right?"
It could be rather clear that Tate was turning into a conspiracy nut. Or else she was just a concerned citizen who really liked looking at videos of superpowered girls frame by agonizingly blurred frame. ******** cell phones. "Thanks, Cowden," she said, giving the teal-haired girl a smile before getting lost in the file before her.

"Yeah," said Tallulah, eyes lingering on the videos. Somewhere in there were clips of Europa, a scout Tate knew well. She turned to leave.
"Let me know if you find anything you think I might have overlooked," she sighed as she opened the door. "I'll see you around."
