She managed a very small, weak smile at the joke but glanced at the floor. Even thinking about Tanzanite made her uncomfortable because all it did was remind her of her failure. She supposed the only way to get over it and work towards accomplishing something was to talk and think about it, though. She traced her foot along the lines of the linoleum on the kitchen floor idly as she listened to Zink tinkering around, then glanced back up at him as he leaned next to her and began to talk.
"Thank you, Z," she said finally, "I can't imagine leaving any of them there. I can't imagine what.." She shook her head and trailed off, glancing up at the kitchen light. She didn't want to finish that sentence. "Just thank you."
She was tired and stressed, sore and stiff, and she really just wanted to sleep. She was useless to everyone with the state she was in but, like she told Khal so many times, the more she rested the faster she would heal. Then the hunt could begin.

He handed her the steaming mug careful not to spill it.
"While you sleep... I will be looking." He told her earnestly. "Everyone will be looking, but -we- will do it with method... there will be no unnecessary overlaps... we will set traps... we will HURT them." He paused for a long moment, those troublesome 'want to' promises fighting to come out again.
"if... we can, we will save them." He added with a nod... it was as close to 'we -will- save them as he dared.
"And we will make them pay." He said as though it were so very simple, though the simplicity of the words never once reached his cold blue eyes.

She took the tea from him, being as careful as he had, and gently wrapped her hands around it while she busied herself blowing at the steaming liquid. Even the smell made her sleepy, but it was comforting at least, even with what Z was saying.
"I know you won't waste time or energy doing anything unnecessary," she took a small sip of the hot tea, then went back to blowing gently on it. "I'll be joining this cause as soon as I can, as soon as I'm able to. They won't keep me down."
She took another long sip of the tea, watching him over the rim of it. It was comforting that he wasn't promising things he couldn't deliver - things no one would deliver. She liked the truth more than she liked to be comforted with unrealistic promises.
"But we will make them pay, no matter the outcome." She gave him a confident, if smirkish, smile and turned back towards the living room where the sofa was inviting her to sleep. She usually took the bed but she'd wanted Khal out of the way to talk about this, so the sofa was just fine. Luckily all the extra blankets and pillows were tucked neatly in a corner.
"Just find out what you can, okay?" She set the tea down on a side table and began to unfold blankets and toss down the pillow. "I'll find you when I'm awake and more helpful."

"I despise waisting energy..." He said in a confidential tone. "Any time I can get other's to do the leg work for me I do... it's verifying what they tell me that's important after all."
He touched a gentle hand to her arm, less tentative at least than before.
"I tell you right now, in utter faith, I am sure that you will be one of our most valuable assets, in returning them... or revenging them...never fear that, because we believe in you."
He nodded quietly.

Alkaid had stopped what she was doing to listen to what he was saying, her hand paused as she stretched out the last blanket for herself. She was tired and looking for comfort to a degree but she hadn't expected the things he said.
"I'm glad you have such faith in me," she said quietly, drawing in a deep breath. She didn't think much of herself, not after such a failure, not after everything that had happened. She had screwed up her mission miserably.
"I'll see you in the morning, thank you for coming over." She flopped down on the couch and rubbed the tips of her fingers against her temple. "Maybe everything will make more sense then."
