Oh boy. That was all he needed. Don't root for the eevee. That would be bad: hot, but bad. Lucas would probably shoot him without hesitation if he accidentally saw anything that the bikini was supposed to cover... Or maybe not, given the last conversation he'd had with the man. Still, it would be bad if Blue managed to get her teeth into one end of the bow and give it a good tug. Yea. Really bad. Mmmh...

Anyway.

Moving swiftly on.

Feigning disinterest in the battle over the bikini strap, Aulus turned to watch Odette preen. "Maybe I'll find out about that if I do get assigned to help look after some of the pokemon... Not really sure how much I want to know about the labs though in the end. Not really my kind of thing." And he refused to say any more than that, just like he refused to let Claire find out that he refused to eat anything that had once been a living pokemon. Only sissy girls didn't eat pokemon, sissy girls and him, but he didn't want to have to beat anybody until they accepted that the second category existed right now. He'd managed to avoid anyone noticing so far, but on a couple of occasions he had kind of had to cobble together dinner in the cafeteria from bits and pieces that hadn't been made from something he might train and battle with.

Claire was incredibly relieved when he turned to look at the Pidgeot instead, so she gave her full attention to trying to detach the stubborn Eevee from her new chew toy. "That's be interesting to find out," she said absently, frowning at the little fluffball. It took a bit but she finally managed to remove the small teeth from her bikini top, only to have Blue scramble further onto her shoulder and between her hair and the back of her neck. Before she could pull the annoying fluffball away, Blue had fumbled her way from one shoulder to the other and set about gnawing on the other strap. "Blue.." Ugh, why wouldn't she stop?

Odette eyed Aulus carefully, but since she had an audience of at least one she resumed her preening with vigor. If he was going to watch, she would make herself look as beautiful as possible. Not that she didn't make herself look as beautiful as possible anyway, but it was different with someone watching.

Oh no. Now what was the eevee doing? He didn't dare look. Look at the pidgeot. She was a very pretty pidgeot instead. Had Blue managed to undo the bow yet? Pretty bird... the pidgeot that was, not Claire. "Yea," Aulus said, mostly stalling for time as he tried to think of something else to say, "would be interesting... I've always found breeding pretty interesting, so I guess cloning or mixing or whatever it is you do here might interest me too. Never know, one of these days you might see me in a lab coat staring intently at test tubes and stuff." Not bloody likely, but it had been something to say, and therefore something to think about other than Claire's bikini top or, perhaps more to the point, the contents thereof.

Odette was indeed a very pretty Pidgeot. Not just pretty, of course - she was beautiful. Beautiful, gorgeous and she knew it. She knew it very well, indeed, and would milk the attention for all it was worth. "Geoot," she cooed, turning slightly then continued to preen.

"There," she sighed, finally managing to detach the determined Eevee from her person. The slightly exasperated young woman held the little menace by the scruff in one hand while she peered down at the strap she'd just freed, running a couple fingers along it with her free hand to straighten it. Fortunately (or unfortunately for Aulus), Blue hadn't managed to untie anything. "Yeah, good breeding is nice but cloning is so much easier." And much more convenient as well as a great deal faster than wasting years with precise breeding, trying to get just the right markings or patterns.

Aulus glanced back just in time to see Claire fiddling with the strap of her bikini, and quickly glanced away again. Do not ogle. Ogling would be bad, or more to the point being caught ogling; last thing he wanted was for her to think he was interested in her, because he wasn't. Not all all. Right... Okay she'd probably stopped fiddling now.

Looking back around, and keeping his gaze firmly north of her neck, Aulus lent casually back against the edge of the pool. "Right," he nodded, "quick results, and probably no significant trial and error for your experienced experts... I've heard that they do stuff down there to... to improve pokemon. Have you let them at any of yours?" He wasn't sure if Claire would know much about what went on down in the labs, and if she did know he wasn't sure he wanted to know what she knew. He couldn't just bury his head in the sand though, he had to know what it was he'd really signed up for, and plus keeping the conversation going distracted him from Claire's, well, Claire.

Ah crap, Blue had managed to twist the strap. Frowning a bit, Claire moved to the edge of the pool and set the sopping wet 'vee on the tiles before slipping both hands behind her neck to fix her top and make sure it was still tied securely. The absolute last thing she wanted was to give Aulus any sort of show, and the thought that he might possibly want one made her extremely nervous. ...moreso than she already was, anyway.

Thankfully it didn't take long at all to fix the minor wardrobe issue, and the young woman finished by gently flicking a section of hair away from the side of her neck where it had adamantly insisted on sticking to. Having a sopping wet Eevee travel from one shoulder to the other - clambering around between the back of her neck and her hair - tended to cause irritations like that. "No, I haven't," she admitted to Blue as she reached up to gently stroke the mischievous normal-type with affection that wasn't as begrudging as she made it appear to be. "I didn't know they could even do that. Security around the labs is really tight, I've heard, so my knowledge of the department is limited to the basics of what they do." That would be beneficial, she thought, to have them somehow improve their performance... But then again that could also come with behavior or attitude changes, and while Zeus could definitely use one, her other pokemon were well-behaved (for the most part) and she had no desire to mess any of that up by getting any of them 'improved,' even if she didn't want any of them to go through such a procedure.

Ack. More fiddling. Was she trying to flirt with him, or was she really just that oblivious? In either event, he refused to be drawn in by her fiddling, or by her hair flip. Look at something else... Look at something else now. Okay, now. Now... Staring at the curve of her neck wasn't a lot better than staring at her chest. Look at the eevee, looking at the eevee was safe... Right. Eevee. Any minute now he was going to look away; if he didn't she'd see him looking, and that was the last thing he wanted...

It really was quite a small bikini top. Not the kind from almost-dirty magazines, but still fairly skimpy. She must be aware of that. She must know she was putting herself on show. She could have decided to wear a full swimming costume, or a more sporty, practical bikini, but she'd chosen to wear this one. Given she'd made that choice, what right did she have to complain if people stared at her chest, especially when she fiddled with the straps like that. Right. So fine, it was her fault not his... he would still probably stop looking.

If Claire could defend herself from his unspoken thoughts, she would have said she had no intention of being in said bikini in front of anyone. It wasn't her fault he'd randomly decided to go swimming at that particular hour, after she'd already gotten into the pool. And now she couldn't get out of it. Not that she'd actively defend herself if she even knew what he was thinking - she'd much more likely fumble for words before fleeing to the nearest utility closet or something.

Anyway.

She happened to glance over and noticed him looking at her, and suddenly felt more than a little bit extremely uncomfortable. A hand raised to cover her mouth slightly as she quietly cleared her throat, hazel eyes flitting quickly from tile to tile to Blue to tile to Zeus to tile to tile to wall space before she smoothed her palms over the curved edge of the pool. "Hold on a second." That said, she inhaled deeply through her nose before raising a hand hold it shut, then suddenly disappeared under the water. Her black hair billowed out behind her as she used both feet to push herself away from the pool wall, swimming underwater from that side to the opposite before flipping around and repeating the action. After a couple moments she surfaced on the original side - though notably several feet away from Aulus since of course she couldn't see underwater, of course not - and immediately wiped the water from her eyes and smoothed her hair away from her face. "Sorry, my hair felt too dry." And she felt way, way too awkward.

Err... Hu? Hair felt too... too dry. Well it certainly looked good wet, slicked against her neck and down her back. She was standing in shallower water now, and that looked pretty good too. "Right," Aulus blinked, trying to focus on Claire's words rather than her body, "nothing worse than dry hair..." Try looking at her face, girls didn't like it when you didn't look at their face when you were talking to them... She had picked that bikini though, and so part of him stood by his right to enjoy the view. Eventually however he more or less managed to overrule that part and raised his gaze to Claire's face. She was quite pretty, really. He hadn't noticed how kissable her lips looked before...

Hang on. No. This was very dangerous territory. Very dangerous. Danger was kind of fun... No! No. Definitely bad. No way he was going to fantasise about her, and definitely not way he was actually going to make a move. She seemed kind of awkward anyway; that was probably the real reason she'd swum off like that, give herself a bit of space or something.

"So... uhh... Zeus had any more run ins with huge amounts of chocolate?" Damn that had been pretty inane, but he'd needed to say something. Talking about something would distract him from thinking anything that he ought not to think... hopefully.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 21, 2011 10:33 am

His thoughts on the real reason she'd swam off were entirely correct, but no way in hell was she about to admit it. "Yeah," she began, reaching up to pull her hair into a ponytail to get it away from her face and the sides of her neck before releasing it, the ends of her hair fanning out and floating in the water, "it just feels sort of weird after a while, so.." Well, if that wasn't an awkward explanation, she didn't know what was. Actually it probably could've been worse, but oh well.

Even though she wasn't looking at him, she could tell he was looking at her. He was looking at her and -- oh, crap. A distinct shade of red crept back into her cheeks as she realized she was too far out of the water for her tastes, and quickly sunk back down so the water rippled around her shoulders from the sudden movement. "Not lately," she said, reaching a hand up to pet Blue's head again since the still-wet 'vee had bounded over to her owner again, "he's been behaving quite well for the most part. So, uhh.. How's Tortie been? With the sudden living situation changes and all." Her attempts at conversation weren't exactly brilliant either, but whatever. Anything to take her mind off of the awkward.

She had nice hair too. Was black her natural colour? Probably not, it seemed she didn't like to have anything natural if she could possibly avoid it. How far had she gone with dyeing? She certainly seemed dedicated enough to deception to have... And that was far enough with that train of thought.

It became a little easier to focus as she sank into the water (although there was still that lovely curve of neck, and her hair floating elegantly in the water around her), and as he shook himself a little he noticed that she was blushing. Oh great, so she had noticed him looking... Was the blushing a good thing or a bad thing? Well, it didn't matter either way, because he bloody well wasn't going to make a move even if that blush meant that she really, really wanted him to. Playing coy but secretly interested. Mmmmh... No! No, no, no: bad Aulus. Think about the conversation, not reaching over to give the tie of her bikini a good tug and pinning her against the side of the pool for a good kissing. Very bad thoughts.

"Oh, err, Tortie's alright," he managed eventually, glancing up at his pokemon partner. "Much like me; she's bored, looking forward to better quarters and more interesting duties. She's quite enjoying the chance to get in lots of battles though... Maybe we could have a battle sometime? I'd like to test her against one of yours." Battling, right, that was a nice safe topic. Battling. Not boobs. Think about battling.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 21, 2011 12:25 pm

"Well that's good," she commented partially absently, still stroking Blue's head and frowning at the little menace as she felt small teeth on her thumb. "Hm, battles? Oh, sure, of course." This question required more thought - which was obvious due to the furrowing of her brow - because she wanted Tortie to be a good match for one of her pokemon. Definitely not Blue, more than likely not Alexina.. Maybe Zeus or Odette, depending on the Absol.

"How strong is Tortie?" Claire asked after a moment, turning to glance at Aulus with hazel eyes. Oh good, he was looking at her face now. Or at least, she thought he was looking at her face, but at least it was obvious he wasn't trying to look at anything too low. "I think either Odette or Zeus would be a good match for her." A brown-tipped ear twitched at the mention of his name, but the lazy Pikachu didn't move from his comfortable position on the floor. The Pidgeot, however, perked up and extended her wings, turning a bit to display the results of her preening. She wasn't finished, of course, but then again... she never really was ever finished with things that involved her beauty.

"Oh... Well I'm not sure," Aulus frowned, shrugging slightly as he struggled to focus on the conversation. "I've had her a couple of years now, and she's been my only pokemon. We've not gone off and got gym badges or anything but we usually fare well in battle. Not saying we have a perfect record of course, we don't, but the more time we're together the more battles we win... So I guess we could start her off against one of the other, just see how it goes?"

It wouldn't hurt either of them to lose a battle if they did turn out to be outmatched by either the Pikachu or the Pidgeot. He thought it more likely that it would be Odette that proved too much for them (she was fully evolved after all, and had been with Claire a while), but it was possible that determined little Zeus would have enough grit to win out while the Pidgeot failed. Of course, it was also possible that Tortie wouldn't be able to beat either of them; he supposed the only way to find out would be to try it.

Hazel eyes traveled over to the multi-colored Absol as Aulus spoke, studying the beautiful coat and trying to gauge her power by looking at her and from his explanation. It really wasn't a very good way to estimate, but oh well. "Hmm.." Odette was rather powerful, which she was very proud of, and Zeus seemed to be her second most powerful pokemon. Oddly enough, especially because she had yet to evolve him. She supposed she should evolve him at some point, but he was much easier to manage when he weighed less than 20lbs, rather than.. However much a chubby Raichu would weigh. Oh well. "Zeus would probably be a good match for her, I think," she said, turning back to her company to find that Blue had wandered away and plopped herself down in front of Aulus.

Well, not so much 'plopped' as 'butt wiggling in the air while hunched over the edge of the tiles and pawing at the water.' Being in it was fun and she wanted to get back in! Plus she hadn't had a chance to chew this man yet and she absolutely had to chew him and explore and figure out who he was and what he tasted like and and and she just absolutely had to chew on him.

Eh? Oh. Eevee. Well that worked, good distraction. Aulus reached out to the small pokemon, closing his large hands gently around her and lifting her back into the water so that she could paddle or whatever. "That sounds good to me," he agreed with a nod, "and maybe afterwards we could pitch her against Odette anyway; wouldn't hurt her to lose a battle badly, make her see she can't rest on her laurels."

At this, Tortie gave a low growl. It was one thing for him to ignore her for the female human, and the female human's pokemon: she could deal with that for a short while. What she could not deal with was having him imply that she would get lazy if she didn't get her tail thrashed ever so often. Both of these annoyances combined (oh yes, and the fact that he hadn't even told her they were going to come and live here, let alone asked her if she wanted to) were enough to to make her want to show her displeasure. Huffing in distaste, the patched pokemon got to her paws and sprung away for the deep end of the pool. Once there, she tossed Aulus' locker key into the water and turned to him with a satisfied expression on her face; that would teach him.

"Uh... What?" Still holding onto Blue, Aulus blinked at the dark type in confusion. "What was that for?" he demanded after a moment, his confusion giving way to annoyance. "Really mature, Tortie; I've half a mind to make you fetch that key out yourself." Not only was what she'd done kind of annoying, it had also kind of shown him up in front of Claire... Still, at least his pokemon didn't try to drown itself in chocolate.
