Eklyx was tending to his shop, it took him some time but he FINALLY saved up enough to build it, when he came back from visiting his family in Celadon, after the war had started, he had vowed to build a Pokemart/Center to cater to both sides of the battle, cause not only did it mean that he'd see both sides of his family, it also meant more MONEY, but just as soon as the war had broke out...It ended, not with a bang, but with silence.
Two years later, here he is, tending his shop, it was a slow day...Slower than usual actually "Man...Where the hell is everybody? Not one customer today..." even on a slow day he'd see one customer, and even then it was so quiet out, eerily quiet, "...What's going on out there? I smell smoke..." grabbing up his Pokeballs, Eklyx headed out of his store, to find where the smoke was coming from.
As he walked towards the source of the smoke, Eklyx saw the blood stains on the ground, and what carnage was left, after walking for a while, he finally came upon Roland, Kerri and Raiu, "Guys....What the hell happened?" he asked to his friends as he came up to them "I knew the shop was being slow today but...." Eklyx said, looking on as Braviary flew off and Bisharp was working on the memorial.

~~*~~ ~~*~~ Kerri found herself lost in meditative contemplation, absorbed in staring at the monument Bisharp had carved, both thinking and trying not to think. This always happened when she was confronted with death, a certain stillness seemed to fill her, a wall between her emotions and her heart. She could still feel them, the sorrow, the fear, the hope for peace... but a certain icy wall made is so they did not consume her. It somehow reminded her of Wynn, though, and she shuddered a little at the thought, before a familiar voice broke through her reverie.
"Killy?" Kerrigan asked, turning around to blink, stunned, at her friend. It took her a moment to remember that he ran the local Pokemart and Pokecentre. "Oh, Killy! There was... everyone died," she blurted out, gesturing at the town with her cane before putting it down quickly as she felt herself swaying, losing balance. "We think it was Verin. They all... fell from the rooftops. Jumped or pushed or something. Wait, were you in town all day? How did you survive?" ***

Walking closer to his friends, Eklyx felt the warmth from the pyre, it gave off a somber glow, flickering with a deep feeling of forlorn and sorrow, "D-di-died?!...How...Verin...of course....But I thought he was gone! he said thinking back on the stories of the war he missed while overseas, all the havoc that had happened in such a short time
"I'm not sure...I went downstairs to restock and when I came back, all my customers were gone, one even left his Pokemon in the midst of being healed...Are you all alright? Well...I mean...yeah." he said with a look of sadness on his face, what could Verin be up to now, was there always going to be something to tear this land, and this family, in twain?

As the avenging Braviary flew high in the clouds, a darkness loomed far beneath it. The monster had done it, the city of fire had lost the spark that made it roar, and would soon fade into an icy silence. As the weight of what he had done began to sink in, the monster began to laugh, a deep resounding noise that chilled the foundation of the tunnels around him. This revere lasted until he reached a lavishly decorated door, made of the finest obsidian and clad in blood-red rubies. Stopping his mirth, the "Man" placed his hand upon the left hand side of the door, laughing once more as his limb passed through the solid stone with no trouble. With a sudden burst of movement, the ghast had moved into the adjourning room, computers lined the walls here, small children at their controls. The young ones were watching the screens with empty eyes, devoid of emotion and life as they watched the scenes of carnage and death before them. Looking at his "Class" with a sneer, a man in a white coat stepped forth from the shadows, bowing to the grinning beast. "My lord.....the Bloodstream Project is in full motion, they will be ready to see the field of battle soon." Looking up, the man spoke in a frightened tone. "MY lord....if i may ask of you...why these children? What need do you have for them?" Instantly the grin faded, replaced by a look of boredom. "Archeron....i have told you before, the trainers of this land will remember that anyone can die by ANYONES hand. I will show them that death can come from anyone, and innocence is nothing before the power of the night." Soon again, the rooms and tunnels of the Nightwalker re-education center were awash in peals of omnicidal laughter.

Before anyone could realize, Raiu released Zoroark and slipped away after the Braviary. Kyle's arrival created the perfect distraction. He followed the Braviary, hoping to find that monster who did this. He split his family once, and he wouldn't succeed in doing so again.
"We're invisible, right Zoroark?"
Raiu often forgot that he was invisible and it can be very unnerving, looking right into the eyes of someone when they can't see you, but you know you're there, and you have this horrible feeling they can see you.
The Zoroark gave a nod and he set off again.
"If we continue to follow Rol's Braviary, we should find Verin. While invisible, I can attack him. I doubt I'll kill him. The bad guy never loses in the beginning of the war. Horrible law of nature."

❄SILVER·GURUFINE❄
『 She was astride a Lapras, the transport Pokémon's shell freshly polished, waxed and glimmering. The young woman's boot-enclosed toes barely skimmed the surface of the river that carved through the landscape. They slowed to a stop, and the Lapras swerved to the riverbank to let her master descend. With a pointed jump, Silver thrust her body down deliberately onto the wet silt, her clunky winter boots slamming down with a wet, squeaky thud. She turned slowly, her silver hair tossed in a gentle breeze. A Glaceon known as Yuki, with a pink ribbon tied around his neck, hopped down elegantly, immediately jumping up the the higher grass and licking the wet dirt from his scrupulously clean paws. "Larune, return," Silver commanded, holding up a Pokéball. The Lapras disappeared in a red flash, and she reclipped the ball to her belt. She gave a passive glance to her vulpine companion, and set off on the road. The river couldn't take her any farther; she would have to continue on foot. She wasted no time; it wouldn't do to be anything but punctual to the Pokémon Contest. It wasn't to be, though, as she approached the city; the trainer entered on an unimaginably grim scene. Her normally unfazeable Glaceon cowered in fear of the flames that rose from the enormous fire. As she approached, she noticed that charred shapes of bodies were at its base. She winced. She heard a whimper from her Glaceon, and she stopped to lift the creature into her arms, taking comfort in its cold body as she faced down the heat of the fire. She came into the midst of her acquaintances in silence; her lips were drawn into a thin line, her body shaking slightly, her gray eyes fixated hopelessly upon the dancing flames. They pirouetted frivolously, as if to mock the sombre mood that was betrayed by the faces of the few lives still present. The flickering patterns emerged from the incineration of the flesh of the lost souls that fed the fire's madness. She clutched Yuki tighter to her chest. She turned her head deliberately, her unreadable expression betraying no emotion but a certain solemn haplessness. "What....happened."

~~*~~ ~~*~~ Kerri flashed a sad smile at Eklyx. "I'm as alright as I can be, I suppose, considering the circumstances." She glanced worriedly at Roland. For some people it was hard to read his emotions, but to her he was usually an open book, and what she read in his face now didn't bring her much comfort. She slipped her hand into his and gave it a small squeeze, trying to subtly remind him that though he'd lost much, not all was hopeless, and there were people there for him. He was not alone in his grief or anger.
So very inspiring, a voice languidly hissed in the back of Kerri's mind, and a cold shiver ran up her spine. I don't suppose you've told him about me, have you, Little Miss Comforting?"
Kerri shook her head and pretended to sneeze, trying to shake the voice out of her head, even though she knew it wouldn't work. Soft, cold laughter seemed to bubble up from the corners of her mind, twisting and trailing about like seeping dark mist, numbing feelings of warmth and happiness.
I didn't think so. My, how will he feel about you when you do tell him, will he feel like he can trust you at all?
Kerri shook slightly and a tear rolled down her cheek. Shut up. I hate you. More cold laughter.
You hurt my feelings, Kerri, because I just love you. As I recall, it was your hate that caused this problem in the first place.
That's enough. You're going back away now, Kerri told the voice, and slammed down the barriers in her mind that usually kept it out. In her overemotional state she must have let the barriers grow weak.
Before she could think further about what had just transpired in her head, another familiar voice - one that lived outside her mind - spoke, and Kerrigan gladly latched onto the distraction.
"What....happened."
"Verin," Kerri told Silver, turning to the girl as she wiped the tears from her cheeks. "Verin happened." Quickly Kerri went over how she'd found the people, how the only people who'd survived were out of the city, or Eklyx; who'd been underground at the time, and that Roland had just sent out his Braviary to hunt for Verin. "So I guess now... we prepare for battle." ***

Roland glanced over at Kerri and noticed that there seemed to be something troubling her. Unsure if it was the recent tragedy or something else, he almost asked. He then realized that whatever it would be, he probably wouldn't get a straight answer. Too many people around for personal stuff to be discussed. He decided to watch her and see if he could get a private moment to ask her.
As Roland was lost in thought and worry, Arcane returned from looking for Toph. Roland petted the big fiery dog and asked "Did you find him?" He frowned as the Arcanine shook his head. "Well, what should we do now? Verin's great at hiding, but I don't want to sit around and wait for the next attack. I want to find him. What do you guys think?"

Raiu was already getting bored of this. The Braviary couldn't find anything and neither could he. The bird almost soiled him a few times, and he was getting annoyed.
"Okay Zoroark, maybe we should head back now. We're not gonna find him, let's just go."
With that, Zoroark released its illusion and they ran back to the pyre. Upon arrival, he found that Silver had joined the group. He slowed down his pace and eventually found his place among the small crowd. He was glad to see Kyle here. After both of his parents were lost in the war, Eklyx sort of adopted Raiu as a little brother.
"Hey bro, what's up? And hi there, Silver. What brings you guys here?"
Raiu was trying his best to keep a fake smile on and act like everything was under control and it was gonna be okay, but the horrid looks on their faces was too much for him. Eventually, his fake smile fell away and a sad look came over his face. Then Rol brought up the question of how to find Verin.
"Well, as much as I hate to say it, do we really have a choice of whether or not we can wait? We have absolutely no idea at all. He could be on another planet for all we know. I think it's best to wait for another attack. But no more lives will be taken. We'll have some sort of decoy..."
Raiu tried his hardest to think of the perfect decoy. Maybe... Zoroark! Yes, that's perfect! We could set a perfect trap harnessing the power of Zoroark's illusions. But is he strong enough to create such a large-scale illusion? What if...
"Okay, I thought of something. We can use the power of illusions! Zoroark could create an illusion to set up the decoys. This way, Verin will believe it'd be real. But it won't. However, there's one small discrepancy. I don't think my Zoroark alone can handle that large of an illusion. But I know where we can find Zorua and Zoroark. We can catch as many as possible and then we'll be able to create a powerful illusion."

Eklyx gave a wave of greeting to Silver who had just arrived, it looked like she came to the city for the contest...alas her ribbon wouldn't be coming today. As Kerri went on to explain to Silver just what all had happened, Eklyx couldn't help but feel sorry for all the Pokemon who lost their trainers today, never again to see their smiling faces, never again to share in their sorrows.
After a few moments passed a familiar voice broke the silence once again, it was Raiu, "Hey kiddo, shouldn't wander off like that heheh..." Killy said flashing a sad smile at his brother, Raiu never was one to listen to him, but he knew Raiu could handle himself, "As for what brings me here" he glances at the pyre, "Work seemed oddly slow at the shop....."
As Roland spoke, asking for ideas on the next course of action, Raiu spoke up, the idea he had, while well thought out, was flawed, "It's not a bad idea bro, but, we all know Verin, do we really think an Illusion could trick him that easy? If he can do something like this" Killy points to the pyre, "What good would an Illusion do?...Though I can't think of any ideas myself..." Eklyx never was all that good with ideas, at least in his mind, and as much as he hated to admit it, Verin still felt like family, even after all the betrayal. Every one of the Gym Leaders of the PWF, every trainer, every challenger, EVERYONE, had taught him a lot, despite the hard times they were all his family.

A pillar of smoke rose up ahead, tainting the morning sky with its sooty haze. A young man walked down the empty road, alone in the morning hours with no one but his Empoleon beside him. He was dark-haired and bright-eyed, but there was an odd sense of quiet about him, almost a tangible pressure. He stopped in the road. He held his head at an angle, as if contemplating a riddle. "There's something unusual about that smoke, Neptune. Something is not right this morning, my friend."
His Empoleon squawked in agreement. They took off at a slightly quicker pace, still heading directly towards the smoke. As they crested a hill, the young man stopped with a lurch. It was a town...just there, a few miles ahead. The young man stared for a second, and then took off running towards the town, shouting behind him, "Hurry, Neptune! It may be a fire! We have to help! Go, Giovanni!"
Still running, the man threw an Ultra Ball ahead of him. With a flash, the big, scarred Nidoking emerged, letting out a roar that echoed down the path. With a leap, the man landed on the beast's back. "Go, Giovanni! We need to get to that town! Now!"
With another roar the big brute took off at a gallop, closing the distance to the town at a break-neck pace. Neptune hurried to keep up, but was starting to fall behind. "Neptune, return!"
As Neptune's pokeball returned to his hand, the young man caught sight of a group of people at the edge of the town. They were standing near the flames, which were still lapping at the sky, as if to burn the clouds themselves. It was a funeral pyre. He slowed his approach and walked towards the gathered Trainers. They were a battle hardened bunch, you could tell by their eyes. Every one of them had seen death, and too much of it. He leaped off of his Nidoking, staring at the piles of bodies...until he could stare no longer. He turned to the group. "My name is Chaos. Would anyone tell me what has happened here?" As he spoke, his eyes swept over the group-and stopped. His jaw dropped for just a second before snapping back up. It's impossible...there is just no way...can it be? "Roland...is that you?"

Roland listened to the idea Raiu proposed, then put his input out there. "Not a bad idea, though it's risky, as Eklyx said. Also... Assuming Verin's patterns are random, which they seem to be from previous encounters, it'd be hit and miss." After a bit of thinking, Roland added "Maybe we should offer Groudon as bait. Verin wants it, no doubt..."
As Roland spoke, the new trainer joined the group and introduced himself as Chaos. "Chaos... I knew a Chaos once... A long time ago. Could it be...?" Roland had just finished his thought as the new trainer started his aloud. Roland looked at Chaos and nodded, then removed his glasses to show his face. He left his modified Xtransceiver, which took the form of his headset-eyepiece combo, on in case someone tried to contact him about things that were going on, in case someone saw Verin. "It's been a long time, Chaos. Haven't seen you since I left Sinnoh. As much as I'd love to sit and catch up... now is not the time. We seem to be under attack again."

"Attacked? Attacked by who? Who did this?"
Chaos stared again at the bodies of the villagers, burning away. Never again will they laugh, or play, or sing and dance again. This was wrong. So very wrong.
"Tell me who did this, and I swear I will help hunt them down and make them pay!"
Chaos turned to the rest of the group, meeting their eyes one by one. He could see past the pain, the sadness. There was a strength in these Trainers, But something was odd. There was pain in those faces. Anger. Resolution. But no fear.
He turned to the young woman next to Roland. There was something else in her eyes. He couldn't quite place his finger on it, but...something.
Once more he turned to Roland.
"Ok Rol, we'll catch up later. But for now, you mind telling me what the hell is going on?"

"Ok. Long story short. You hail from Sinnoh, as do I. I'm sure you remember the whole Team Galactic incident. Here we have Team Nightwalker, which is far worse than any of those other teams. Team Nightwalker is who we suspect did this. We beat them two years ago, but they seem to be back. I don't know of anyone else vicious enough to do this..." Roland shook his head and turned to Kerri, and gave her a hug. "I don't know what to do right now. We need to find Verin. Without Verin, we will make absolutely no progress. He's really good at hiding, though. What did everyone think of my idea of using Groudon as bait?"

~~*~~ ~~*~~ "An old friend of yours, I assume?" Kerri asked Roland, a bit of amusement twinkling in her eyes. "Hello there... Chaos, was it? It's nice to meet you, I'm Kerri, Roland's girlfriend" she introduced herself, before Roland launched into the story of what had gone on here. At his hug, she wrapped her arms tightly around him and kept one arm slung around his back as he backed away, not wanting to let go. Not wanting all this to happen again. But she'd stand by Roland this time.
"Using Groudon as bait is risky. Verin's crafty, what if he actually gets Groudon? Then you'll have handed that superweapon right back into his hands. But contrariwise, I can't think of any better ideas," Kerri replied, a sheepish smile splayed across her lips. "Where?" ***
