She looked back with a smie and nodded. "Sounds silly huh?" She gave a small chuckle as she looked ahead. "I don't mind crossing a river if I have to but to actually swim in something like a lake or the ocean... I'd rather not.. You see.. I had a bad run in with a wave that attempted to pull me out to sea, a friend of mine happened to risk his own life to save me. Unbeknown to me.. I was with foal at the time.... it was early in the pregnancy.. but it scares me to think what would have been had I been swept out to into the ocean." She glanced back once more, her cheerful smile still there. She'd gotten use to explaining to others her fear of the water and wasn't bothered that some one had a hard time believing a silly fear like that.

Though she'd never had such an experience, Celeste tried to think back to before she learned to love the water and how terrifying the thought of being swept out to sea might be. She supposed it must have been something like her fear of heights and after realizing that she started to understand Shoshana a little more, "Ah, it's not quite so silly when you explain it..." Her own fear was more ridiculous than Shoshana's, "But...the water's really not that bad. Especially the lake. It doesn't get waves that often and when it does they're pretty small. They're actually kind of soothing."She loved to sit in the water when it was being slightly disturbed by the wind and let the waves rock her.

"Maybe.. but then After the sea.. I've sort of tried to stay clear of deep water." She smiled as she walked along. "Maybe some day.. I can get past it all.. I know a friend of mine once tried to help me get past it.. but.. it didn't work. I just couldn't go through with it.. Since then.. my daughter has learned to swim though not through my efforts and while she loves the water.. I am stubbornly fearful of it all the same. " She gave a small chuckle that died into a soft sigh.

"Well, if you ever feel like trying to get over that, I can promise this side of the lake is safe. I know the resident kelpi and he couldn't hurt a fly. Well...he could, but he wouldn't. If anything he'd help you back to shore if you started to drown." She couldn't quite figure out what she was actually encouraging someone to go to the lake. Usually she tried to keep others away just because she was pathetically defensive of the lake and its resident. But something about Shoshana was just completely nonthreatening and Celeste even felt a little empathetic towards her. Something in the back of her head was telling her to try and help the other mare and the pessimistic remaining part of her was saying she shouldn't bother because it wouldn't help anyways.

She thought long and hard about this and nodded. "I'd like to try.. give it a shot now that the incident's been put behind me. I think maybe.. just.. maybe it's high time I finally face this fear. After all I wouldn't want my grand foals to live fearfully for the rest of their lived in the future." She laughed lightly. "But then.. I'd have to have grand foals for that to be an issue. None of my offspring have found that special some one.. they all seem content as they are."

Well that was a surprise. She really hadn't expected Shoshana to agree to her suggestion. Celeste almost wasn't sure how to react at first she was so surprised. It took a moment for her to shake off the feeling and she gave a half laugh, "I'm sure they will eventually. Just taking their time before settling down." Or they could end up never finding their special someone. Even better, they could find someone they truly care about but never have the gall to admit their feelings....
Before her mind could wander too far into her situation with Mar, Celeste turned her attention to the previous matter, "If you're serious about it, I can help you, if you want that is. I'm not really that strong, so I probably can't drag you back to shore if you start to drown. But I can try to prevent the actual drowning part from happening in the first place."

She stopped and turned to look at Celeste. "Alright... Let's do it then." She grinned wide. "I'd be a sorry excuse for a herd leader if I let this stand in my way, so.. Let's do it." She was terrified but yet determined and stubbornly so. She'd set her mind on kicking this now and she wasn't about to back down yet. "So.. Shall we get back to that lake of yours and start the process then?"

Celeste gave a half smile, glad to be returning to the lake instead of their original plan. The idea of helping Shoshana was a little awkward though, for some reason. She just wasn't really used to being so....friendly with anyone that wasn't Mar. It was like she'd forgotten how to, "Yeah, sure." Happily, she turned on her hooves and started back towards the lake.

She followed after the other mare, noticing the other's glee to be returning to the lake. She presumed that Celeste was just more comfortable at the lake.. attached to it for some reason or another. Did this mare have no other friends aside from the kelpie she'd mentioned. "So, is it just your and the stallion usually or do you have any other friends?" She wasn't trying to be nosy nor was she going to begrudge the other mare for not being so sociable and making any other friends.

Celeste suddenly got stiff at the question. It really wasn't that offensive of a question, she just really didn't want to answer it. It made her feel pathetic that she really had no other friends. Sure, there were those that she shared the teepee with, but she wouldn't call them friends. They were either too crazy, too flirtatious or just....made her too uncomfortable to be around for them to be considered friends. But Shoshana was expecting an answer and she'd been too polite about it for Celeste to simply ignore the question. So she just tried to act like it didn't bother her, "No, it's just us two."

"I see." She smiled and nodded. She had noticed the stiffening of the other mare but let it slide. It wasn't any of er business, so she wouldn't pry. Perhaps though, She could consider this mare a new friend in the future. After all, she was willing to help her get over her fear and having another friend wouldn't hurt. She only had a handful of friends outside of the herd.

As they made their way back to the lake Celeste did her best not to think about anything related to the subject of friendship. Every time she thought about it she just got depressed and anxious. That always led to her moping through the village after doing something incredibly stupid and getting on Mar's last nerve. It was a process they'd been through on more than one occasion. So, she just focused her mind completely on the task at hand.
When they finally reached the lake she was immensely relived since the actual lact of helping Shoshana would truly distract her from things she didn't want to think about. She approached the lake's edge and turned to the other mare, "I guess we just start from the bottom and work our way up. So the first step would just be getting your hooves wet and move up from there once you're comfortable."

Giving a nod, she edged her way to the lake. It took her a moment of looking at just the water before she picked up a hoof and placed it into the shallow water before finally stepping into the shallows all together. This wasn't so bad.. at least it'd be cooler than the summer heat when summer came around once more. Lifting a hoof, she set it back into the water causing a 'kerplunk' sound as water splashed up some. She couldn't help but to laugh some at this, it reminded her of something from her foal hood. "I forgot how much fun these sounds were when you'd splash through the water like a foal.."

Celeste half smiled as Shoshana talked about the noises of the water, surprised at how quickly she seemed to be getting over her fear, "See, it's not so bad." She grinned encouragingly, though it was hidden behind her scarf, and scooted a bit further into the water, "It's really a lot of fun. Especially if you can swim." She wasn't really a good swimmer but she still enjoyed it, enjoyed the weightless feeling it caused. Even though Shoshana seemed to be quite comfortable in the water now, she decided not to push her. If she felt comfortable enough to go deeper she would.

She was content for the moment just standing in the shallows and splashing about. She grinned at the other mare as water came up , splashing against her neck. "I think.. just for a little bit... I won't go any deeper.. just.. just till I've gotten a bit more... comfortable." She looked at the water and lowered her nose to it. She wasn't staring at her reflection or anything, more like she was just looking into the water to see what she could see. She lowered her nose a bit further, dipping it into the water so that she could blow bubbles in it for a little bit. She almost seemed foal like in that moment.
