He doesn't have 11 strength or a halberd...but I named the ROM fe8 and the ips file fe8, so I don't know what the problem is...

...Okay, so i've named the clt, ips, and gba file all fe8. Now I need to do some complicated (to me) patching stuff involving software? Ugh...

Soft patching doesn't work for all patches, and I guess if you want to call clicking the ROM you want selected hard, in any case, it works for every S/NES, GB/A, etc game out there.
(You're going to have to learn how to use Lunar IPS if you want to play FE5)

Okay, you're being too general for me...what exactly should I do? I have the ips file and renamed it Fe8. I have the rom and renamed it Fe8. I have the clt and renamed it Fe8. What now?

...do you have Lunar IPS? From the way you're explaining, soft patching doesn't work for this kind of patch.
If you really want me to, I can do a step by step guide on using it with pictures.

I've never even heard of Lunar.ips. It is true that I have played Fe6, but it took me a while just to figure that translation patch out (and then it was only renaming the file name).
I couldn't ask for pictures, but perhaps a quick step-by-step would do me some good.

Use only people you get at the start of chapters (Gilliam, Franz, Moulder and you rest, sorry).
